View Full Details of Avocet Court Care HomeThe staff are the real stars here. They were so kind and caring and always happy and upbeat. I couldn't fault the care. The kitchen were always happy to work around the menu to cater for mums likes and dislikes.
Staff work hard and very kind.
My mother in law went to Avocet Court for assessment following a spell in hospital. The staff were friendly, helpful and caring. She was well cared for and treated with dignity. The facilities were very good and helped her transition from hospital to her current care home.
When my husband was referred for rehabilitation did not know what to expect but can happily say need not have worried. He received excellent care and was kept informed. All staff were lovely and it really put my mind at rest that he was getting the best care and treated with dignity. The setting is lovely and the overall experience was positive. Thank you from us both.
Both receptionists are very friendly and informative. Refreshments available, drink in or takeaway cups for hot drinks. A nice place to sit. Mum in for rehabilitation following a hospital discharge. All staff very welcoming in the house. Good care taken with mum, her every need catered for willingly. Mum settled very quickly and is enjoying watching the wildlife out of her window. No negative comments.
The care for my father is very good. They are very caring & supportive to my family.
Generally I am impressed with my husband's care. Maybe, the building itself is rather old and tired in places.
I visit my husband 5 days every week. Who is contented to be here, for rehabilitation and physio. He enjoys the food which is variety and well presented. cups of drink, tea, coffee and of course cold drinks are served during the day. Entertainment is organised daily by a staff member. Staff are helpful and very caring. Enabling my husband to progress in his walking and balance with frame.
Mum has received excellent care and support from the staff. We have had regular contact from the staff with updates on mum's care. Nothing seems to be too much. I would recommend this unit for other carers. Cannot comment on activities or cost as discharged from hospital to some. Mum unable to participate in the many activities arranged by the staff.
The reception we got as a family was very welcoming from day one. The colleagues are very friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. We feel we can ask any question and they answer straight away and if not come back with whats happening. Alot of care is taken to settle mum in. Cannot comment on activities as Mum has not tried them yet. But when passing, sounds good and clients laughing and clapping, music playing. The day room is bright and always cheery.
Mum has settled in nicely, feels at home and gets the care she needs. Friendly and helpful staff always around to answer questions. Regular updates online and over phone about activities and health.
My mum has been with Avocet for nearly 6 months now. The care is second to none. All of the staff are amazing, kind friendly, attentive. They all make you feel welcome. They hold some fantastic events all year round. I couldn't ask for a better care home for my mum amd her needs. So thank you to all of you!
Very caring staff - reception and management. Mother inlaw as well looked after and had a good 2 years with the home. She enjoyed the activities and food and always stated that all staff met her needs.
My mother was on respite after being in hospital after various falls. Once in Avocet Court she settled well and the professionalism of the care support was very good. No complaints by my mother only praise and very thankful for the service/support she had. The staff very pleasant and willing to assist with a smile. My mother enjoyed the activities and meeting others enjoying their company. Always good food/drink at regular intervals. Many thanks for looking after my mother.
I found Avocet Court a warm, welcoming environment. I could see it was committed to serve the needs of each individual, understanding the difficulties that increasing cognitive impairment brings. Placing someone you love in the care of someone else is a huge step but my questions were answered and I felt supported during this difficult time. It's a transition for my sister-in-law as well as us.
Mum spent just under a month at Avocet Court in an NHS funded reablement bed. The facilities were good if a little dated with a lovely bright and airy communal lounge and a large bedroom. On some occasions there was a lingering odour in the lounge. Mum was well fed but often left drinks untouched. Some staff were lovely, welcoming and friendly, others less so. They were usually very busy and staff availability to discuss any queries or concerns was variable but overall they were responsive when available. One or two of the team stood out as natural carers and nothing was too much for them. There were issues with equipment function and availability which took a couple of weeks to resolve (call alarm, crash mat and sensor mat). The reablement came to an early end as the therapists felt they could do no more for Mum. Within less than a week in a new care home Mum's mobility and continence have improved beyond our expectations, leaving us disappointed with the provision at Avocet Court.
My fathers first time going into a home. Myself and my family were so worried about leaving him. We should have never been worried! The staff are so lovely, the home is lovely and clean. My dad is having the best care.
My mum has been a resident at Avocet Care Home (Harlech House) in Ipswich for over a year, and throughout that time the staff are always been compassionate and caring towards my mum. Whenever I have asked questions the staff are always helpful. I am really impressed by the positive attitude shown by all of the caring team.
My mum is happy and settled here, which is the most important thing to my sisters and I. While not the most modern care home, there is a constant programme of improvements taking place. The carers are fantastic, as is the activities coordinator. The food is excellent, good quality and plentiful.
My aunt died on 23rd January in your care. Her care with you over the past 7 years was very good. Care and communication with relatives was 9 out of 10. She loved her time with you and considered it her home.
