My dad stayed at Avocet Court from the middle of Jan 2026 after a stay in hospital. The care he got was amazing , whatever their role was they all went above and beyond , not only for my dad but for his family too. Any problems we had they were on it straight away. Whilst in there it was my mum & dad's
59th wedding anniversary and Avocet made it really special for them. The staff especially in Cilgerran were outstanding

My mother has been here for 4 1/2, in all that time, she has been treated with exceptional care. The carers, nurses, and reception staff are all excellent. I cannot fault the care home, the staff work very hard and are always very friendly and supportive. I know I can relax and know my mother is ok,
and if there are any concerns, they will call me. I recommend this care home to anyone. A big thank you to everybody.
Reply from The Manager, General Manager at Avocet Court Care HomeThank you also for your recommendation and for your continued confidence in our team. We will be sure to pass on your thanks to everyone.

Overall, we have no complaints, the staff excellent. Chef does lovely meals, trying to tempt mum into eating more. Care, couldn't wish for better, sometimes a small delay answering the buzzer, but we understand how busy they are.
Everyone has made mum feel welcome and are interested in what she says.
If mum is happy, we are happy. Thanks to everyone.

From the moment mum came into Avocet Court, we were made to feel so welcome. Chris welcomed me with open arms and a cuppa and cake, reassuring me that all would be ok. Mum's care has also been excellent. The staff are so caring and have built a great rapport with mum. The activities they provide are
so engaging and varied, something for everyone. And the food is lovely and plentiful. Thank you so much for caring for mum, and us too.

The care I receive is excellent. I am well looked after. I enjoy my time here and join in
with the activities. I enjoy the company of other residents. The food is good and I can choose an alternative if I am not keen on what is on offer. The carers are lovely and really looked after me. I especially
enjoy playing bingo and listening to the singers who visit us. I am happy here and I am glad to call her my home.

My mum has been looked after very well, she has been fed well, and there has been plenty of fluids.
She has been treated very well and the place is very clean and tidy.
The carers, staff and management are all very nice. The cleanliness of the home has been ok but needs a little more attention.

My mother in law is a resident of Avocet Court Care Home and is very happy with her carers and the care she receives. During my weekly visits I have seen a big improvement in my mother in laws general happiness. She has been takin part in the entertainment activities which she has really enjoyed the
social side of this interaction with staff and fellow residents.

The management are very good at making sure everyone is aware of the activities being organised and making sure that family members are welcome at all times.

Overall both my wife and I are very happy with everything that the home provides and the support given to us as family members of our loved ones in the care home

I can't thank the lovely staff enough for the consistent care they gave my mum.
She had an awful fall in London and was in a London hospital for 3 weeks. Then transfered to Advocet court for rehabilitation.
From the time she arrived. The staff were wonderful.
It really is a home from home.
The
place has such a happy atmosphere with people that treated my mum with the upmost respect and dignity.
It was such a relief knowing she was being looked after by such caring upbeat people.
The food always looked delicious and there was always some kind of entertainment going on.
It was a weight lifted from my shoulders knowing I didn't have to worry about her.
She came on leaps and bounds with physio and has now returned home with carers going in twice a day.
I was quite sad she had to leave as it was such a joyous place to be.
I could not have asked for better care for mum.

My dad has stayed at two other care homes in Suffolk that were more show homes than care homes. I found at Avocet Kayleigh and all the staff were so helpful, most caring and friendly. It cannot be an easy job at times, but nothing was too much trouble. I would say the care was outstanding. All the residents
looked happy, well cared for and relaxed. There was no smell, and everything was very clean although some walls could of done with a paint! But it all made most homely. A pity was full and I couldn't get a permanent place for my dad but highly recommend if you can.
Reply from The Manager, General Manager at Avocet Court Care HomeThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful feedback. We're truly touched to hear your positive experience with Kayleigh and the team at Avocet. We understand how important it is for a care home to feel both welcoming and homely, and we're glad this made a difference to you. We're sorry we weren't able to offer a permanent place for your dad at this time, but we truly appreciate your recommendation - it means the world to our team. Please don't hesitate to get in touch if we can help in the future.

Slightly dated room but excellent care, which was the most important aspect of my mother's stay after a spell in hospital before going home.
The carers were very attentive, the food appetising and it was generally much better than the private care home we had used previously.
Thank you for all you
did for my mother while she was with you.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.735)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.735) out of 10 for Avocet Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 61 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 60 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.735 for Avocet Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (547 Excellents x 5) + (141 Goods x 4) + (24 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 712 Ratings = 4.735
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Avocet Court Care Home is based on 60 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 153 registered maximum number of service users is 30.6, which has been reached with 60 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
