We recently visited my Nana to celebrate her 92nd birthday, and it reminded us just how wonderful this care home is.
From the moment we arrived, she was sitting comfortably in her favourite chair, which had been moved over from her previous flat, making her room feel familiar and like home. Her room is always clean, and everything she needs such as her glasses, tissues, reading material, drinks and TV remote is thoughtfully kept within easy reach, which is especially important as her mobility is limited.
She always greets us with the biggest smile, and it's even more special when her great grandchildren come to visit. Seeing her so happy and content means the world to our family.

As it was such a sunny day, we celebrated her birthday in the garden. The outdoor space is absolutely lovely, with beautiful flowers, ornaments, comfortable seating and plenty of shade. It's also fully wheelchair accessible, making it easy for our whole family to spend time together and enjoy the occasion.

Mum stayed in Powys House as a temporary resident following discharge from hospital. The carers and Powys staff were all amazing, helpful, professional, friendly, quick to respond to call bells and always polite and very smiley :) Special thanks to Rakia, Cayleigh + all the office staff too for answering my endless questions! Mum settled in very well. Staff have been very good, pleasant & kind, there so much care giving. She's always clean & smiling. And looks like she's put on a bit of weight. We love the 'cafe' and its a pleasant gift to know that you are generous with lovely coffee & cakes. We have had nice walks around the court, and I feel happy to leave Mum knowing she's well cared for.

I can't thank the manager and staff enough for the exceptional care they provide. The manager was more than helpful-she was absolutely brilliant in what was an incredibly stressful situation, offering support, guidance, and reassurance throughout.
Every member of staff has been friendly, approachable, and genuinely helpful, even while caring for a loved one with dementia who can be very challenging at times. Their patience, kindness, and professionalism have been outstanding.
The food is excellent-I'd happily eat there myself every day! The home is always clean, the rooms are well maintained, and the safety and security are top-notch, giving us complete peace of mind.

There are always activities taking place to keep residents engaged and entertained. Both of my loved ones who have lived there, including one who has sadly since passed away, were genuinely happy and well cared for. Knowing they were treated with such dignity, compassion, and respect means more than words can express.

My dad stayed at Avocet Court from the middle of Jan 2026 after a stay in hospital. The care he got was amazing , whatever their role was they all went above and beyond , not only for my dad but for his family too. Any problems we had they were on it straight away. Whilst in there it was my mum & dad's 59th wedding anniversary and Avocet made it really special for them. The staff especially in Cilgerran were outstanding

My mother has been here for 4 1/2, in all that time, she has been treated with exceptional care. The carers, nurses, and reception staff are all excellent. I cannot fault the care home, the staff work very hard and are always very friendly and supportive. I know I can relax and know my mother is ok, and if there are any concerns, they will call me. Overall, we have no complaints, the staff excellent. Chef does lovely meals, trying to tempt mum into eating more. Care, couldn't wish for better, sometimes a small delay answering the buzzer, but we understand how busy they are.
Everyone has made mum feel welcome and are interested in what she says.
