All the staff are very kind and caring. They show great patience with my mother, who can be very awkward.

My mother arrived at Deerhurst in such poor physical and emotional condition after being physically and emotionally abused by carers at a large, big brand care home.
The carers at Deerhurst were horrified by her condition, swollen legs, cellulitis and wounds on her shins that had been
ineffectively treated for quite some time.
My mother has dementia so the move was quite distressing for her but the staff at every level are so patient and kind that she settled in much more quickly than we anticipated (and has never been so moisturised in her life!).
She's been at Deerhurst now for two years and is content, there's so many things going on with themed weeks, incursions, excursions there's no time for boredom . The care Home staff are so committed and dedicated to the residents physically, emotionally as well enabling as much as possible my mother's sense of self and agency.
At Deerhurst respect is a guarantee not an added bonus. I'm delighted and relieved mums here.

This care home is just simply wonderful! The staff are all lovely, friendly and welcoming.
The care home itself has a warm cozy and relaxed feel. All the staff go above and beyond to make not just my father but every resident happy content and safe. There are activities every day, this is something
that is very unique as we have had an experience before with a different care Home that my father was in. They have singers in, all different types of
entertainment. Art classes, cooking classes, lots of choices of board games and books from library. They have relaxation time, which is just lovely. Farm yard animals and even reptiles. The children from the local school write to the residents. The local church pop in and sometimes they have a sing song. The food and choices of food, it is in my eyes outstanding different choices of bread, lots of choices of breakfasts whatever drink that they would require Deerhurst has. Deerhurst always smells clean and everything is alway clean

My partner has been in Deerhurst care home for just over a year now. He is very settled there, he knows and likes all the staff and they all know him and his likes and dislikes, his needs and his medical issues. All the staff are unfailingly kind, considerate and very alert to the residents needs. I
have observed on many occasions whilst visiting my partner how quickly the staff respond to any situations that might arise, usually defusing problems before they happen. It really is an excellent care home, I wouldn't want my loved one to be anywhere else.

Mum has been resident at Deerhurst for two and a half years now. She will not ask for the help she needs and when living on her own was making unsafe decisions. Staff respect her wish to remain as independent as possible whilst being very caring and mindful of the need to keep her safe. To achieve
this they have made adjustments that suit Mum.
It is a huge relief to our family seeing Mum both content and so well cared for. There is such a variety of daily activities and outings, many of which Mum really enjoys. I have never encountered a staff member who was anything but kind, caring and cheerful. Internal communication is brilliant as is that with relatives. The leadership is excellent and it shows in every aspect of Deerhurst.

I can not praise Lesley and her team enough.
My husband has Huntingtons Disease, which he was diagnosed with on the 16th October 2007. It was devastating news as you can imagine but we grabbed life by the horns and travelled the world.
As Robins conditioned worsened he started having respite
at Deerhurst then on 30th July 2020. Not being political, but that was the day the prime minister held his party in the middle of Covid when we were not mixing at all .
This meant I was unable to visit Robin for 3 months. However, i waved at him through thr front doot of home. Lesley contacted me immediately a room was available and he moved in full time.
Lesley and her team do not only care for Robin but me and my family, which is wonderful and I have made many new friends within the wider Brunelcare organisation.
They thoroughly deserved this recognition.
Many, many thanks

Visited my sister as I do most weeks. She was having her breakfast with other residents, dressed as I would expect to see her re.expressing her personality in her matching clothes, jewellery and hair neatly done.
Staff work hard to ensure residents individuality shines through, even when the
individual can not longer express themselves.
All staff on duty that morning said hello and expressed an interested in what we were planning to do during the visit.
The qualified nurse gave me an update on current health concern and what was happening to follow-up a referral.
Always reassuring that my sister is being cared for by people who know her well (previous job role, interests and activities), and are always happy to support family who visit.

The atmosphere of Deerhurst is bright, warm and welcoming. The mood of the entire staff is without fault. They are accessible, available, genuinely interested in the residents and their families and the trained staff go above and beyond to liaise with next of kin to ascertain the best course if
action for each resident and include the resident in any decision making should they have capacity.
Visiting is a truly heartwarming experience.
Activities are stimulating, conducted at a suitable pace and all are encouraged to take part to the best of their ability if they so wish.
I gave never regretted my choice of Deerhurst.

My lovely daddy was in Deerhurst for 3 years. He died there in the middle of last year. During his last weeks, (and the 3 previous years) all of the staff were so kind and helpful. They went above and beyond in talking to him, looking after him and keeping me informed at all times. Two of them were
with him when he died in the early hours of the morning and I'm incredibly grateful for this. Deerhurst is the place where I was happy to leave him after a visit (or as happy as you can be, given you can't be with him 24/7). He had dementia and at times could be very grumpy (enough to try the patience of a saint), but they all, without exception, were so caring and lovely. There are huge amounts of daily activities, trips out, visitors etc. If he had chosen to do them all, he would have been a very busy man! I would highly recommend Deerhurst, run by Lesley and her team of absolute stars. You are very, very, unlikely to find a better, happier and more caring community of people.

My wife, who has Dementia, has been a resident of Deerhust sine May 2025 and the care they provide for her is excellent. The staff are very attentive and there are many activities every day. The home management is very good and there is also a very good approach to the way the staff dress (no
uniforms) and the decor, which is casual and homely. I visit my wife every day so I see the operation of the care home daily. My wife was at another care home for a couple of months prior to Deerhurst, as we had to wait for a room to become available at Deerhurst. Whilst the other care home was good, it was not at the same level as Deerhurst for the care my wife requires. I would highly recommend Deerhust.

I honestly cannot rate Deerhurst highly enough.
This has been my Mum's 'home' for almost 2 years and previously my Dads too. The staff are absolutely fantastic, the activities provided are geared to involving those who wish to do so and that includes visitors too! I would without doubt recommend
Deerhurst as a safe and caring place.

Dad has been at Deerhurst for 4.5 years now. Mum and I took the difficult decision that it was time for him to go into full time care in 2021 when it became obvious that he could no longer stay at home, regardless of how much support we had. This was in 2021 when there were still Covid
restrictions around ... of the shortlist of homes we wanted to view, Deerhurst was the only one that said we could come in and have a proper look around, the manager said 'of course you need to see it in person, it will be his home', and it is. Dad is immobile & non verbal (most of the time) and yet despite this is still included in as much as possible. There is a wide range of events, trips and activities at Deerhurst from all types of music/singers/bands to visits from mums and babies, donkeys and reptiles and craft and parties are always going on, often with an international theme. The care and love that is shown to dad is amazing and I can't express how grateful I am to the staff there.

Having looked at many care settings for my mother we were recommended Deerhurst care home and went to have a look, we were met with kindness and shown around.
I wasn't sure mum would ever be able to settle into a care environment, we began with day care where mum enjoyed the mum and baby groups as
well as other activities.
By the time a residential place was available, the transition was so easy.
All care home offer activities but deerhurst goes above and beyond, mum is always so busy that she doesn't have time to be unsettled.
All of the staff are wonderful, communication with family members is really good and there is a family feel right from the beginning.
Mum has made a new best friend, she's never bored or lonely and most importantly she is safe and well cared for.
A few months ago as a family, we were stressed, doing our best to manage and constantly worried, Things are so much better now, we can relax knowing that all mum's needs are being met.

Deerhurst has been an absolute lifeline for us as a family. My mum has dementia and attends Deerhurst 3.5 days a week but she's also just spent a week there for respite. The whole team are amazing, they are so kind and caring and always have time for us as a family as well as for my mum. The
activities they provide are engaging and varied and we love the fact that families are encouraged to get involved if they want as well. Everyone is so accommodating and my mum absolutely thrives when she's there. Thank you all for being so wonderful!

I can't put into words how grateful I am of this home. My best friend of only 46 years old, unfortunately has dementia was placed in a nursing home for the last couple of years. Her previous home she was neglected in many ways. I was looking for a new home for her and came across Deerhurst and oh my
goodness me from stepping through the doors. I knew this was the place for her. The manager, her team go above and beyond to ensure every resident is valued and cared for to the highest standard. They look after all of their residents like they are part of their family. You can see this as you wonder around the home there's not one resident is in their room. They are all enjoying the amazing amount of activities that are going on. My friend has improved so much her mood has been lifted every picture of her. I see of her smiling away, brings me so much joy. I'm so grateful to you all. Five stars is not enough.Xx

Shhh...don't tell anyone about the fantastic caring home nestled between Kingswood and Soundwell called Deerhurst. Mum has been a resident for over a year. Every time you think they cannot improve on the care or experiences for the residents living there, they do. The residents have the opportunity
to live their final years fully, doing things they enjoy with love, care and support from all the staff and volunteers. Nothing is too much trouble or beyond the staff to organise. It is not only the residents that are supported and cared for, the relatives are as well. When we first walked into Deerhurst I noticed a poster saying "Our residents do not live in our workplace - we work in their home" and it is so true, it is their home filled with love, laughter, fun, care and support.
When mum moved into Deerhurst she was lost and haunted by her dementia but now she has a lovely rapport with all the staff, her eyes say it all, they are sparkly and she smiles a lot. I couldn't ask for more.

My father in law has been a resident of the home for the past year. We made the very difficult decision to move him to the home after his dementia and general health declined. It was the best decision the day to day worry about his well being and safety has been removed. All the staff at Deerhurst
have been very welcoming to him and us. The home provides a bright and cheerful environment. They have take time to get to know his likes and habits, nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. There are a huge amount of activities on offer in the home, which are enjoyed by the residents and relatives are always welcome to join in. The manager's door is always open and all the staff are approachable and knowledgeable. I would recommend this care home to anyone looking for care for a loved one.

This year, my father moved to Deerhurst after previously living alone. From the moment he arrived, the entire team has worked hard to make him feel welcome, adapting to his needs and making him feel at home. I have confidence that any issues that arise have been and will be addressed promptly, and
we will always be consulted and can feel secure that he is as safe as he can be.

Every time I visit my friend in Deerhurst, I am improved by the pleasant, welcoming and colourful decor, the friendly acceptance of the very caring and capable staff. I also love their attitude to the residents, calm, loving and understanding. Nothing is too much trouble. My friend is always clean
and tidy. His needs are immediately noted and dealt with. There are plenty of varied and nutritious meals, served individually for each resident.
