My mother has moved to Eschol House following a fall and a long stay in hospital. Her recovery whilst with Eschol House has been a pleasure to watch with her mobility improving markedly and her spirits improving all the time. The staff have been relentlessly positive and supportive and have made a huge difference to my mother who is regaining her confidence and cheerful disposition.
Right from my initial contact with the team at Eshcol to Mum moving in nothing has been too much trouble and the move has been made as smooth as possible. All the staff are lovely, friendly and very caring and have made Mum feel very welcome. They have also encouraged her to join in some of the activities which is great. It has been a tough few months for Mum after a bad fall and breaking her hip meaning she could no longer live at home and finding Eshcol has been a great relief for the family knowing she is in a friendly local home and receiving all the care she needs. The food is great and this too has improved Mum's outlook not to mention the lovely sea view from her room. Thank you to all the team at Eshcol. Angus [son of new resident]
My father was in Eshcol House from November 2024 until late May 2025. In that time I was able to visit regularly and always considered him to have excellent care. Although the facilities were fine, the most outstanding feature was the care given by the staff. This was of huge importance to me and I was always very happy with it. I believe that made all the difference to my dad's happy time there.
I'd visited my friend several times before and as usual, I was favorably struck by the tidiness of Eschol House. A nice pleasantly clean atmosphere. My friend who has been bedridden for around 4 years was pleased to see me and settled in for a long chat. Intermittently, a knock on the door, a head poked around it and a voice "everythin ok" offer of refreshments for my friend - and for me. Staff demonstrated a caring attitude throughout.
A fantastic care home set in the beautiful Cornish village of Porthscatho. The staff are brilliant and truly care about their residents. My Mother in law has been living there for about a year and had been extremely ill prior to moving to Eshcol. With their care and support she has made a full recovery. A definite recomend!
Lovely caring staff the food is excellent quality mum well looked after with a great choice of activities to keep her occupied we are always made to feel very welcomed. When we visit even the children are well happy with the treats provided which is a bonus
My friend absolutely loves being in Eshcol House. She cannot speak highly enough of all the staff and feels very safe and cared for. She often says to me, "Don't worry about me, I am very well looked after in here" Staff are doing their utmost to get her mobile again and have brought in special equipment to help her.
My friend is vegetarian and there is little choice or variety in the food provided.
My friend was only in Eschol for a short time before she passed away but I would like to say she was well looked after, the staff are so friendly and all her needs were met, great home and staff, they even changed her room when one with a sea view became available which was very much appreciated.
The transformation in my friend was astonishing. She was unwell before visiting and very unsure and resistant to the idea of even going into a care home. When I invited her two days later, she was relaxed, happy and had regained her zest for life, and was very glad to be in Eshcol. She felt looked after, enjoyed the company of the staff and wants to move in! She loved her room and being able to see the sea and being able to easily access the garden - her favourite place to be!
Friendly, caring staff in an attractive sea-view location in this pretty old fishing village. As a visitor made very welcome. Excellent pub close by for meals with indoor and outdoor seating. This review will not be accepted unless I submit at least 200 characters, so this paragraph will hopefully fill this objective!
I experienced great kindness, consideration and warmth while I was staying at Eshcol. The staff did all they could to meet my needs and made me feel very welcome. The room I stayed in was just right, sea view, access to the garden and fresh air.
The staff were very caring and helped my mother-in-law to make her stay as comfortable as possible. They even let us visit with her cat, which was a great comfort. The lady on reception was great and regularly suggested things that could be done to help my mother-in-law while keeping us informed of any changes during her stay. We were always welcome to visit at any time and were very confident that she was being looked after and in safe, caring hands.
I spent half an hour with my relative. Two staff left as I arrived having given her some care. Snacks and drinks were available by her bed if required. The atmosphere is bright and happy. All the staff are cheerful and polite. Residents were either visiting in their rooms with door ajar or in the lounge chatting. We recalled that my mother spend 18 happy months there at the end of her life.
When I arrived at Eschol House I had a lovely greeting from the staff which put me at ease straight away, as I was very frightened and bewildered and from that day every member of staff has been absolutely brilliant and fantastic to me they cannot do enough to help me nothing is to much trouble they go above and beyond and my health is improving and it's all down to the care, help and support I'm getting from these wonderful people. I also have a lovely room with everything I need in it and feel very happy here.
My mother spent the last seven weeks of her life at Eshcol House - first on respite care, then as a permanent resident. Aged 96, her health was failing when she arrived at Eschol House but the level of care she received was excellent. The staff really care about the residents and could not have been kinder to my mother. I am sad that my mother was not able to be at Eshcol House in better health or for longer but I recommend this nursing home to others.
From the time my friend first came to Eshcol House the overall care has been excellent. All staff I have come into contact with have been both professional and friendly. Never an easy visit, but Eshcol staff make it as positive as possible. I always leave feeling assured friend is well cared for.
My mum has settled in really well at Eshcol House Nursing Home. She particularly likes how friendly the staff are and she has already made a friend with one of the other residents. She has been enjoying jigsaws and scrabble. She also appreciates having a balcony with the amazing view of Gerrans Bay which she can enjoy on fine days.
We are very impressed when we visit our good friend the home is always very clean and fresh and the staff are always very helpful and friendly.
