View Full Details of Hillcrest House LtdThe care home is warm and comfortable. The staff are excellent and very caring, looking after residents, working without complaint and cheerfulness. The food could be better.
Mum was moved from another care home in Liskeard at the request of ASC due to finance. The move has gone extremely well. Mum has settled very well, staff have been excellent with Mum. Lots of activities going on. Mum has been out of her room every day and mixing with other residents, which has helped her settle in well. I have found Mum more expressive and more able to hold a conversation, which was not so good before. We as a family are really pleased with Mum's care.
The staff at Hillcrest were extremely helpful and thoughtful throughout. My step-dad's brief visit. They healed him extremely well in quite difficult circumstances. In particular, Dom's - dealt with his passing in a kind and thoughtful manner and made the experience more manageable. Thanks all!
Staff are generally very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Mum doesn't participate in all the activities provided, but does enjoy the social element of being able to watch some of them.
The guest rooms are ok, not overly warm. The bathroom door needs replacing, a bit tired and worn. Also should be more than 1 shower rooms - times limited for guests to be showered. My mum only given 1 shower in 13 days, having requested more. Food never very hot. More activities to include going off site occasionally. High standard of cleanliness. Staff are considerate of all residents and show real care.
Mum is being well cared for. Staff show concern and warmth toward her and are active in her health care. Her family are warmly welcomed also. Mum enjoys the range of meals offered. She likes her room and having her own bathroom. Mum has a pleasant outlook onto the garden.
Care home seems to be run very well, always clean & warm & staff are very caring.
Everyone seemed very relaxed. My mother appeared clean and chilled out in the day room. As good as I could wish for.
I am happy that my wife has lived in Hillcrest House for over 4 years, as she is well looked after. Care is given consistently and with genuine affection. There appears to be little turnover of staff, and the carers know the residents well, although sometimes information is not passed over from shift to shift. I am always amazed at how the carers cope in the advanced dementia unit, displaying seemingly endless reserves of patience. The physical fabric of the home is slowly improving, but Trevena upstairs needs new windows. More staff dedicated to activities would help.
Mum was at Hillcrest for end of life care, and we cannot thank you enough for the wonderful care that has been provided. Everyone has been so friendly to her, and she told me that she loved it there. It has given my sister and I such peace of mind to know that she has been looked after by such lovely people for the last six months of her life, and the compassion that we have been given during and after her passing has been much appreciated.
My father was a recent resident at Hillcrest for approx 9 months, and the care & kindness he was shown in his final days was incredible. Each time I visited, I was always given a warm welcome, and then some much needed support towards the end of his time. Every single member of staff is fantastic, there arent enough words to describe how amazing they all are. The food is great, and you can add touches from home to the rooms so Dad felt more settled. Dad was treated with dignity and compassion, and it's something I will forever be grateful for. Thank you all so much.
I would like all the staff to know how much we as a family valued the care my father received in the last few months of his life in the Trevenna Unit of Hillcrest House LTD. On our visits there was always a friendly member of staff to discuss Dad's health. We were all kept well informed. Everyone was very kind, patient and professional. Dad was very well looked after, with individual personal care and friendly words. Our mother was also welcomed each day on her visits, being given cups of tea and chats and even lunch. Dad had a lovely room where family photos were displayed on the walls, his own blankets, cushions and accessories were accommodated giving a homely touch. Thank you.
This review is hard to write as my Mum only passed away on 17th October 2024 but the care/compassion/dignity she received from everyone at Hillcrest certainly made her passing slightly less painful. Every step of the way everything was explained as to what they were doing. My mum looked so comfortable and at peace with nothing ever being too much trouble. They promised they would look after her/make her comfortable and never be in pain and that is what everyone did. Everyone there made us as a family feel at ease and welcomed from the cups of tea and friendly faces.
My mum has spent 8 weeks respite at this nursing home this year. 4 lots of 2 weeks. Each time my brother and I have felt at ease leaving her in the care of such warm and kind-hearted staff. Mum has dementia but the staff treat her like family. I have no doubt she is looked after very well. I would not want any other care home to look after her.
My sister was recently admitted to the Hillcrest Nursing Home. She was very ill and died after 11 days of being there. I wanted to say how very kind and caring all the staff were, from the management to the cleaning lady. There was a family feeling, but on the other hand, everyone was very professional and compassionate. I can recommend this nursing home.
Having had the experience of our elderly neighbour being admitted to Hillcrest House, we found a very kind and welcoming atmosphere from all the staff, in a difficult time, but with the kindness and empathy given to my husband and I and our elderly neighbour. We would just like to say thank you very much for the care shown at Hillcrest House by all members of staff. They are a credit to the profession.
Always get a warm welcome from the staff when I visit and are very caring. Also, lots of activities are organised for the residents. Good atmosphere especially in the Trevenna/Hendra unit and staff are interested in their whole background which must help in looking after them.
On visiting my friend who resides at Hillcrest, I found the home to be friendly clean and caring. The staff were lovely and could not do enough for the residents. It's really nice to see that my friend has settled in so well.
The staff at Hillcrest House work tirelessly for the residents. Whenever I visit, the residents are well turned out and treated as equals by the staff. Hillcrest's strength is that the staff create a community atmosphere within the home. A community that is a privilege to be a part of when I am there. The home attends to all areas of need in life. Activities, spiritual needs, as well as the usual care you would expect. The staff in the home seem to constantly go above and beyond the expected. I cannot recommend Hillcrest highly enough.
Awesome experience.
