View Full Details of Devonshire House and Devonshire Lodge Care HomeStaff are all nice and helpful. They take care of Mum well. It does take time if Mum steps on mat for them to come, but I appreciate staff shortages at times. The home is usually clean.
My mother came to Devonshire just over a year ago and it has been lovely to see her blossom over this time. The staff who care for her are so very kind and considerate of her needs. I would love to decorate her room but she is having none of it and is happy how it is. I must give a shout out to the entertainment/activities team who go above and beyond with so many ideas to engage Mum. Also Lynda in reception answering my endless enquiries.
I visited my dad for 5 days - 13th to 17th Aug - and spent an average of 5/6 hours per day in the home and took him out into the community. The staff are good in general. Manager? No one there, which was poor. 12' x 10' room + toilet unacceptable! Food needs improvement. Budget windows need replacement glass. There are concerns!
My friend seems very settled here, and the Staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful. She doesn't seem interested in joining in any social activities, which I think is a shame, as she spends most of her time watching TV. She is frail, however, and over 90 - so perhaps this is understandable. It would help if she would wear her hearing aids.....!
My mother has been at the Devonshire House and Lodge for 2 years now and we have been so pleased that we chose this home for her. The way the home is set up is great for residents to be as independent as they are able to be, the facilities are fantastic, with many communal activity rooms and wonderful outside areas and gardens to enjoy. The staff are caring and attentive, friendly and welcoming. There is also a brilliant activities team who do a great job in engaging with the residents and involving their families in the various activities arranged.
Staff very caring. Treating resident as an individual and discussing their interests. Keeping an eye on them. Taking to (common) room. Also discussed an issue with management (only TV-related). Sorted out happily. Had a cup of tea.
Mum had dementia and was a resident at Devonshire House for 11 months when she passed away last week. The care, compassion, understanding and patience shown to her during her stay there was superb. I would have no hesitation in recommending Devonshire House to anyone looking for a care home for a relative or friend.
An excellent care home, my father is very well cared for. The food and activities are excellent and every taste is catered for. My father has ongoing health issues and his medical care is second to none with hourly obvs when necessary which is a great comfort to me and my family. Dad is very happy here.
Mum has been really well looked after at Devonshire House and Lodge and the staff have shown her great kindness, compassion and dignity. This care has been extended to family too and communications are very good. The facilities are excellent here with a really good choice of activities and the surrounding gardens are just delightful.
Devonshire House is an excellent care home providing home from home comforts. The staff have always been kind and caring and treated mum with dignity and respect. There are many activities on offer should mum chose to join in. The home is clean and tidy at all times, and as visitors we have always been made welcome and invited to various events throughout the year. The whole team of staff have created a lovely professional care home that I would highly recommend.
We are very happy with the care our mother receives from Devonshire House. The facilities are excellent, as is the lifestyle program. The food can be a bit variable but steps are being taken to try and improve this. All the staff are friendly and approachable.
My mum seems very settled and well looks after.
Every time we come here the home is clean, and well kept. The staff always greet us with a smile. My mum is always happy. The entertainment team always keep the residents occupied and not just sat around in chairs which is good to see.
The home is a wonderful home for my mother. The staff are very caring and professional. The home its self is well set up and provides for all the clients. The Lifestyle Team provide a great experience for everyone, making sure everyone is engaged in all of the activities.
Mum is very well cared for and seems very happy. It is a relief for the family that she is in a safe environment. Mum especially enjoys all the activities provided. A special thanks to the Activities Team.
I volunteer weekly every Wednesday with coffee mornings and activities. The staff interact so well with the people who live here with songs and dancing. The home is always clean and tidy. The manager is very welcoming and is very visible and approachable. She is very supportive of the lifestyle team and I was very happy to read that they achieved a good rating in a recent CQC review.
Great friendly proficient staff. Excellent nurses and management. Very helpful polite and friendly. Good food, facilities and entertainment etc. Lovely garden. My only moan is being woken up every hour in the night by a knock or door opening to check on me, but I can see it was necessary for quite a lot of the other residents, I have no complaints at all other than that one.
Mum has been a resident at Devonshire House since November 2023. I cannot fault the care and compassion she has received. The staff value her and understand the importance of her dignity and privacy. She is warm, comfortable, content, and extremely well-looked after. If she is unwell or her lovely carers are at all concerned, we are phoned at once, meaning we are always in touch with her latest progress, even if we have already visited the same day. When visiting her, we have always been greeted with smiles, offers of tea, and the latest reports on Mum's welfare. We chose well when we decided on Devonshire. The staff treat Mum like a much-loved Grandmother and encourage her to take part in activities. Our whole family is relieved that she is so well cared for and content in her new home.
My mum is very happy and settled in Devonshire House. The home is excellent and the staff brilliant. It gives me a peace of mind knowing that she is being cared for so well. The activities that Mum gets involved with are excellent and the activities team are outstanding. The week I spent with Mum was very pleasing. Thank you to the whole team.
My dad was moved from Torrs to MV2 recently to ensure his safety. He was very comfortable in Torrs, it was quieter so the majority of the time he was very happy. His carers were truly amazing with him. Nothing ever too much trouble. Since moving upstairs he has seemed less comfortable, lots of residents whose dementia is more advanced which can be disturbing for him. His room is now smaller and he has lost a private shower facility. I was told that he would be moving to a room with a shower. I have left a few messages for management to call me to discuss this but not heard. I cannot fault his care. He often doesn't have a pillow and his bedding is minimal. The food is very good. He has a good appetite, a larger portion would be good. The carers and the activity leaders are really great and try to get Dad involved, which takes away the boredom. There was also going to be a 'Walking Club', however no news on this. Now we are in Spring this and Minibus trips would be welcomed.
