My mum has been a resident in the dementia/nursing side of Devonshire house lodge for seven weeks . Her care has been out standing ! The staff are so caring and friendly toward my mum and do their upmost to keep her comfortable and happy . Always asking and giving her choices of food drinking and where she would like to be at different times of the day . Ie in her room for rest or in the communal areas for company and or activities .
She has become a different person after 18 months of being in a different home where she was constantly anxious and aggressive both physically and verbally a lot of the time .

It is always a lovely visit now as mum is back to her witty fun and cheeky person that she was before this terrible dementia took its hold of her . Staff always seem happy and always welcoming to us as a family on our visits . Usually offering a cup of tea and biscuits that we can have with mum on our arrival . Even though they are all so busy all of the time .

Dad has been in the home for just over a year now. The staff have treated both him and me with the upmost care and respect; helping with sensitive matters and reassuring me when I've been upset. This home is ideal for anyone suffering with Alzheimer's or Dementia. The general layout, wide hallways so residents can stroll around, the bus stops in the corridors, the activities area, which has toys for a visit with grandchildren; the room names on the door, which is a nice personal touch. I sleep easier at night knowing Dad is safe here and will be well looked after. He's on MV2 and I send my Thanks to the staff there, for all they do.

I've put 'don't know' on the value for money question as I don't know how it compares. To me , you can't put a price on this kind of care.

I would like to thank the management team and all the staff for welcoming my mum into the care home. The transition from her previous home was difficult for her, but it is clear that the diligence, kindness, patience, and attentive care shown by everyone have helped her return to her usual self far more quickly than we ever expected.
I live abroad, but I speak to my mum every day on a messaging app (with the help of my daughter), and I often see staff coming in to carry out their checks. They have such a wonderful manner with her, and their compassion and professionalism have helped her feel more comfortable, secure, and independent. She now happily accepts support from the caring staff, who have shown remarkable patience and dedication in helping her settle in.
I cannot remember the last time I saw her looking so well or sounding so happy. Knowing that she is safe, cared for, and genuinely settled gives us tremendous peace of mind.

Thank you for the outstanding care and support you provide

My mother had a stroke 7 months ago. She has had care needs but has consistently said she wants to go home. I have written and video evidence of this. The care home have worked together with the state to ensure that not only is the bond with my mother severed, but that my mother will be illegally kept within the confines of the care home for the rest of her life despite her desperately wanting to go home.

They claimed I was stealing the food, they insinuated all kinds of terrible things about me. They would make me wait hours just to see her. They never contacted me when I should be the main point of contact/next of kin, they would contact my sister instead who doesn't even understand my mother. They have worked with the state to ensure that my mother never leaves that building despite her saying she wants to go home every time I see her. It's kidnap - no other word for it. I will now have to repeatedly take actions and raise awareness in order to ever see my mother again/get her home

Mum has lived here for 5 months and

is treated with dignity, kindness, respect, her needs are met safely in a person centred and timely manner. On her birthday, carers entered singing "Happy Birthday," and every staff member wished her well. Residents joined in too one brought a card, another recited a verse. It was good to see Mum happy and settled after such a traumatic year. The home has a real sense of community among staff, residents and families. They decorated a private room with balloons and banners, and the chef made an IDDSI level-5 cake so she could safely enjoy it.Tea and cake for her guests, such thoughtful touches. Mum beamed all day. We are deeply grateful for the compassion, dignity and warmth shown daily by ALL staff in ALL areas. The Devonshire has turned a difficult time into comfort and belonging. Thank you all.

I have visited my aunty on a number of occasions before her recent passing. I can honestly say the care and compassion shown to my aunty and us as a family was exemplary.
The care assistants really do care and all seem to really enjoy their jobs. There is a lovely atmosphere in the home. My aunty never had a bad word to say about anyone there, and also really enjoyed the food.

I would recommend this place to anyone looking for care.

I visited my dad for 5 days - 13th to 17th Aug - and spent an average of 5/6 hours per day in the home and took him out into the community. The staff are good in general. Manager? No one there, which was poor. 12' x 10' room + toilet unacceptable! Food needs improvement. Budget windows need replacement glass. There are concerns!

My friend seems very settled here, and the Staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful. She doesn't seem interested in joining in any social activities, which I think is a shame, as she spends most of her time watching TV. She is frail, however, and over 90 - so perhaps this is understandable. It would help if she would wear her hearing aids.....!
