I volunteer weekly every Wednesday with coffee mornings and activities. The staff interact so well with the people who live here with songs and dancing. The home is always clean and tidy. The manager is very welcoming and is very visible and approachable. She is very supportive of the lifestyle team
and I was very happy to read that they achieved a good rating in a recent CQC review.

Great friendly proficient staff. Excellent nurses and management. Very helpful polite and friendly. Good food, facilities and entertainment etc. Lovely garden. My only moan is being woken up every hour in the night by a knock or door opening to check on me, but I can see it was necessary for quite a
lot of the other residents, I have no complaints at all other than that one.
Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Devonshire House and Devonshire Lodge Care HomeThank you so much for your wonderful review and for the 5* rating! It's great to hear about your experience of living at Devonshire House. I have asked the Management team to look into risk assessing the night checks you have to see if they can reduce the frequency safely. They will have a chat with you about this. Thanks so much once again for taking the time to write such a great review. With best wishes.

Mum has been a resident at Devonshire House since November 2023. I cannot fault the care and compassion she has received. The staff value her and understand the importance of her dignity and privacy. She is warm, comfortable, content, and extremely well-looked after. If she is unwell or her lovely carers
are at all concerned, we are phoned at once, meaning we are always in touch with her latest progress, even if we have already visited the same day. When visiting her, we have always been greeted with smiles, offers of tea, and the latest reports on Mum's welfare. We chose well when we decided on Devonshire. The staff treat Mum like a much-loved Grandmother and encourage her to take part in activities. Our whole family is relieved that she is so well cared for and content in her new home.

My dad was moved from Torrs to MV2 recently to ensure his safety. He was very comfortable in Torrs, it was quieter so the majority of the time he was very happy. His carers were truly amazing with him. Nothing ever too much trouble. Since moving upstairs he has seemed less comfortable, lots of residents
whose dementia is more advanced which can be disturbing for him. His room is now smaller and he has lost a private shower facility. I was told that he would be moving to a room with a shower. I have left a few messages for management to call me to discuss this but not heard. I cannot fault his care. He often doesn't have a pillow and his bedding is minimal. The food is very good. He has a good appetite, a larger portion would be good. The carers and the activity leaders are really great and try to get Dad involved, which takes away the boredom. There was also going to be a 'Walking Club', however no news on this. Now we are in Spring this and Minibus trips would be welcomed.

We cannot praise all the Devonshire House staff enough for making my mum's last year so happy. Physically she was not mobile but she loved so many things, like having her hair and nails done weekly: the activities including bingo, games, chats and visiting singers. Mum loved meeting her new friends
for lunch every day. So many times we visited and had to find her in one of the many social rooms or in the garden. There was always someone at hand to help her manage her pain or even to chat with. A truly amazing place for a special Mum and her visiting family. Thank you!

Would like to say that this is a message to the lady/nurse on the Leemoor suite, firstly we would like to congratulate her on her position. What a lovely person she is, she cares so much for her residents and has a wonderful nature.
My dad has been at Devonshire since March 2023 coming from another
care home that closed. My dad is so happy and very well cared for and the nurse is a very special person to my dad. The care is so wonderful and all the staff are so helpful and caring. Congratulations to the nurse and all her team.
Thank you from all our family.

It would be great if you would let the Home Manager, know the name of the nurse you mentioned so that she can have formal recognition of the great work she does. I'm glad that you feel your dad is happy and well cared for.

My dad came to Devonshire Lodge on the 10th March 2023 after a previous home closure.
We didn’t have much time to find another home for Dad and when we called Devonshire Lodge the management worked quickly and so hard to welcome and give Dad a home.
On the day of moving Dad, the management and all
staff were so kind and helpful and made my dad so at home.
So very grateful for everything here, my dad is enjoying his new home and receiving better care.
Such a lovely home and Dad, I think, is going to be very happy here at Devonshire Lodge.
Thank you to everyone.

My father was a resident at Devonshire house and lodge for a number of years until his sad passing in February this year and we could not have asked for a better place for him to call home. The staff are absolutely amazing, Dad had the best care and he managed to be involved in activities each week
and loved being out in the garden when the sun was shining! He made some wonderful friends and it really did bring him out of his shell.

The chef catered so brilliantly for all his dietary needs and he very often got his favourite meals cooked just for him and some gorgeous desserts which made him smile so much. The staff also treated us like family and we ourselves made friends for life. I will always be eternally grateful to all the staff for how they made dad's last years so wonderful and so much more exciting for him. He was always treated with dignity and love and we couldn't ask for anything more. An amazing home and amazing people. Thank you.

The care my mother has received since arriving at Devonshire House Care Home is so high.
As a family, it was so difficult to make the decision of finding a new home from home for our dear Mum.
Devonshire House Care Home has made Mum feel 'at home' again.
She is now doing things she would not have
done at home, joining in daily activities, such as crafts, singing, quizzes and even bingo.
The staff are so much part of the family; we are welcomed when we come to visit.
I would not hesitate in recommending this care home to others and cannot thank the staff enough for helping us adjust as a family, knowing Mum has the care she needs night and day. As a family, it gives us peace of mind.

My aunt was brought directly from the hospital to Devonshire House rather late in the day due to transport difficulties from the hospital. We arrived shortly after her to ensure she settled in - we needn't have worried! The staff could not have done more for her, despite the late hour. She was comfortable
in bed, had a snack/tea, and her possessions were being inventoried and put away. We visited with my aunt, and she said it was the best care she had received. My impression of her first month, care was provided, top-notch and excellent communication.

My mum went to the Devonshire House Care Home for post-op respite care for approximately 3 weeks. This was the best decision we made for Mum as a family. The care she received from the moment she arrived to the time I took her back home was amazing. We were greeted on arrival by the care team who went
above and beyond to ensure Mum was settled in her room and she was immediately offered refreshments and time to get settled, followed by a full induction of the care setting, which was a real home-from-home. The staff were attentive, caring, supportive and very kind. The home was spotless and beautifully decorated with a calm homely feel and we could not have wished for better care and support for Mum during this challenging and difficult time for her. I cannot thank the staff at Devonshire highly enough for all the care and support they gave to Mum and the reassurance they offered to me. It gave Mum the security and confidence to adjust from her operation - thank you.

My father, who has advanced dementia and complex health needs, has been a resident at Devonshire House since August. The staff have worked hard to improve his quality of life by overcoming his fear of hoisting. On arrival he was bed-bound but through their perseverance, he is now out of bed daily, mixing
with other residents and able to feed himself. Staff work incredibly hard but are unfailingly kind and helpful to residents. They are pleasant to deal with and respond quickly and efficiently to any queries or requests. This is a well-run home and I'm very happy that Dad was able to move here.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.665 for Devonshire House and Devonshire Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (236 Excellents x 5) + (60 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 316 Ratings = 4.665
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Devonshire House and Devonshire Lodge Care Home is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 77 registered maximum number of service users is 15.4, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews.
