A bright and cheerful welcome was how I remember my first day visiting the home to look around. We celebrated when a bed became available some weeks later. Without fail this is a great place with such caring people who do everything and more to ensure all are safe, well supported and cared for with
dignity and respect. The whole home is full of smiles and laughter and within each section of the home, the care needs are met with compassion and understanding. We are so thankful our dad is there with you all and can’t thank you all enough for all you do each day with such energy and enthusiasm. Well done team Devonshire. Outstanding in every way, every day!

I can highly recommend this home. My mum has been here for nearly 2 years, it has been very hard as mum has Dementia. Mum was still aware of her surroundings when she went in and was very scared. The love and support from everyone there, when times are hard, they not only support mum but me as well.
I know mum is safe, very well cared for, mum has been in a few homes, this is by far the best with just the nicest people who really do care. I can’t thank them enough for taking mum through each stage and comforting her, mum isn’t the easiest they are so patient. In this current situation they know it’s been hard but they kept her safe and busy and family involved. Thank you, everyone, at Devonshire.
Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Devonshire House and Devonshire Lodge Care HomeMany thanks for your review. It's lovely to read what a difference the team have made not only to your mum but also to you.

My mother stayed here for 5 weeks after a bad fall at home. She settled in very well and we found all the staff to be very caring. Nothing seemed to be a problem with the care taken to make my mum feel at home. She very quickly made friends with other residents and would meet them for meals and activities.
So from my sister and I a big thank you to all the nurses of all grades. And to maintenance guys for help with tv and lighting. And activities staff for all they put on mum enjoyed it. Cleaning staff too, the place is so clean. The meals there are fantastic all cooked fresh in open kitchens you can see into where again all the staff were friendly. The food is also grown in the gardens and stunning in summer I have heard but its Jan and cold. Even on leaving I was helped out by a member of staff with the heavy items. So a big thank you to all.
Reply from Honor Keatley, Managing Director at Devonshire House and Devonshire Lodge Care HomeMany thanks for taking the time to write this lovely review. As you suggest it really is a whole team effort to create such a wonderful home for our residents. It will be great for the team to see how what they do makes such an impact.

The staff at Devonshire House showed Dad the utmost care and love, you would not have imagined. From their sheer professionalism to the little things that make a difference, the care Dad received was first class and I write this review to counter the horror stories one hears about some nursing homes.
I give the Devonshire top marks!

It was the first time taking the father in law to a group. As it was a lovely day, we went to the garden. It was great to listen to the short stories read by the carer/activity person but was even better to hear the memories of the residents in the group. There was plenty of smiles and laughter which
was great to see. The group leader engaged the whole group well.

My mum was put into Devonshire House after a series of hospital visits lasting from 1 week to 5 weeks. She is being cared for in the best way. Her health has improved due to staff ensuring she is eating and drinking well and her meds are being taken care of. Also, the extra bits of care as social interaction
are taken care of. All staff going that extra mile.

My sister has only been there for 3 days but I have been impressed with the care and attention she has already been given.
From our first visit, we have witnessed a calm, clean and very caring environment with happy staff who genuinely care for their residents. After a lengthy hospital stay my sister
needed a lot of attention and reassurance which she was immediately given, this has enabled her to already make progress with her mobility and environment awareness.
Experienced and dynamic staff have encouraged my sister to be more active. All our concerns as family members have been addressed swiftly and efficiently. We are always made to feel welcome and really well looked after ourselves, as family members.
The management team seem to be making many positive changes including in the garden which will look stunning in the summer with a new pond, a mini butterfly farm and numerous patio areas. We are just so grateful to the manager and the activities coordinator and all the staff who are all so kind and caring.
Reply from Alison Foreman, Commercial Director at Devonshire House and Devonshire Lodge Care HomeThank you for your great review, your kind words are much appreciated. Being able to write such a review after a relatively short stay at the home is a testament to how much of an impact the dedicated staff team can have on a residents daily life. They are a super team with great leadership and they continue to do the very best they can to ensure that new residents become 'part of the family' very quickly. As for the garden, that is going to be 'second to none' in the whole of the southwest!! Kind regards

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.665)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.665) out of 10 for Devonshire House and Devonshire Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.665 for Devonshire House and Devonshire Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (236 Excellents x 5) + (60 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 316 Ratings = 4.665
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Devonshire House and Devonshire Lodge Care Home is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 77 registered maximum number of service users is 15.4, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
