View Full Details of Wisteria House Dementia Care (Woolwell)My mother was admitted as an emergency placement. The staff are wonderful, helpful and understanding. They have been amazing with mum, who has had a number of issues medically, which they are dealing with or have dealt with in a professional manner.
Wisteria House at Woolwell have taken exceptional care of my mother. She was very weak and frail when she arrived and now she has improved so much physically. They encourage her to take care in activities and respect her choices. They keep me informed and updated with any changes, issues, or concerns. Wonderful staff and ethos.
My mum has been at Wisteria for almost a year. During that time myself and the rest of the family who visit regularly have been impressed with the facilities available as well as the whole team of staff that contribute to the care and wellbeing of my mum. Wisteria House is a welcoming place with a number of different areas that the residents can undertake different activities. The staff are always kind, helpful and welcoming to my family and also to my mum. There are numerous people that visit Wisteria to entertain the residents (singers, Plymouth Argyle staff to demonstrate light exercises, and even small animals). Mum enjoys the food, which is home cooked and healthy and on nice days she likes to sit in the lovely garden with us. Overall I'm very happy with the care my mum receives at Wisteria House at Woolwell.
Mum has been at Wisteria House over 2 years now and the care she is receiving is truly 5 star. The Home look after her every need from The lovely meals, the entertainment, the cleanliness of her room and most of all the wonderful staff, who are very experienced in dealing with Alzeimers/Dementia residents. Wisteria House is run in a very professional manner which is why mum seems to be happier in herself all credit to the staff and management.
Lovely staff, friendly, always makes us feel welcome, would recommend this home, they have great activities, have singers in, they do very good raffles at Easter time and Christmas time, and they also do a summer fair with a raffle too.
Wisteria House stood out as being by far the best in a large selection that I viewed for my father. The home is extremely welcoming and the staff are genuinely caring and knowledgeable. Dad has been there for 5 months now and has settled in very well. I know he is happy, content, safe and all his needs and more are met. The staff take the time to go at dad's pace ( he can take an hour to eat a meal and only with full assistance) and anticipate his wishes. The food is home cooked and appetising and tastes good ( I've eaten there), and even though dad is on a special diet it's prepared with care and thought. His bedroom is homely, as is the rest of the house. The home doesn't have an institutional feel and it's been carefully designed around the needs of dementia residents. I couldn't wish for a better place for dad to be.
It was a difficult decision to place my Mum in a care home after the passing of my father. My mum has complex health needs that I am simply unable to help with. The staff at Wisteria house are friendly, kind l, always smiling and nothing is ever too much. They keep me informed on all her needs. They have made the transition for her the smoothest it could be and looked after my Mum. I am truly grateful to you all.
My partner moved into Wisteria House two years ago, suffering from dementia/Alzheimer's. Over the intervening years, the staff have looked after him cheerfully and kindly and I am truly grateful. I had come to the end of my ability to cope with our situation and it was difficult for me to transfer the burden but Wisteria has more than met my hopes and I am now able to relax knowing that they are doing what is necessary.
I can't thank all the staff at Wisteria House Woolwell enough for the beyond excellent care they continue to give to my darling Mum and to our family. Mum went into Wisteria after a few stressful hospital stays and it was a difficult time for us all. Since being at Wisteria, Mum has thrived. She is so well cared for by everyone. She has the most wonderful friends, the food is amazing (very fresh and wholesome and always available), the gardens are so beautiful and so peaceful and Mum has her sparkle back again. When we visit and take Mum out, the staff are all warm and helpful and professional and we are always welcome. Mum says she is happy and never wants to live anywhere else now. That is testament to the wonderful staff, the ethos and environment. Thank you for supporting us, and especially Mum, and enabling us to make more happy, quality memories with Mum.
Mum enjoys the day care at Wisteria House. The staff are very kind, helpful, understanding and there is always a happy atmosphere. Staff have also been support to me. Mum enjots seeing the other ladies and gentleman and having a chat. Mum loves the activities provided and enjoys the food.
My dad has been at Wisteria for over 3 years, as his behaviour has become more & more challenging the staff have been very good at adapting to his increasing needs. He is well cared for, his anxieties have diminished and he is given opportunities take part in the many activities offered. A very important thing for me is that although I visit often, there is a very good line of communication with carers, team leaders & management, although everyone is always busy, they can find a moment to talk. It is awful to see a loved one suffering from dementia, I feel the staff at Wisteria House have given Dad the best substitute for feeling 'at home' as his health allows.
I love Wisteria House. The facilities are incredible. The grounds are beautiful. Her room is bright and clean. The best thing, far and above all others, is the staff. I couldn't do what they do. Just amazing.
Wisteria has such a fantastic setup, especially for dementia residents. Colour-coded doors for toilets. The staff wear casual clothing to lower the feeling of authority and formality. Nan can be challenging and they deal with her so well. Being overstaffed enables efficiency. Nan enjoys the food and there are activities almost daily! Food tasting, sports, live music, dressing up and having a good laugh in the process. Parting thoughts - you'd struggle to find a better quality of life given the circumstances for your loved ones.
Care is the 5-star element of Wisteria House. The staff are wonderful and show such kindness and empathy to the residents. The house is bright, warm and beautifully furnished and the bathrooms are modern and spotless. A beautiful home. I can not fault Wisteria for its dedication to delivering quality of life to its residents.
Very nice here, settled recently.
Both the home and staff are fantastic, our father is happy and safe. The facilities are wonderful and the home is extremely clean. We wish to thank the wonderful staff for all they do for our father.
The whole building is used by the residents as their own home. There is nothing regimental, they can do anything they wish to do - watch TV, cups of tea in their room, and activities are plentiful, entertainment. The staff are all well-organised and nothing is too much trouble - all in all 5 stars!
We have found Wisteria House (Woolwell) Dementia Care to be a loving, caring home for all its residents. It is everything a care home should be. The staff are a dedicated, friendly team and cares deeply for its residents. They offer lots of activities and have various people coming in to entertain the residents. The accommodation is excellent. The grounds are kept immaculate. Meals are varied and nutritious. Alternatives are available if a resident doesn't want the main choices. The standard of cleanliness is excellent. All homes should be at this standard. So, it's a big thank you to all the staff and managers for making my sister and the other residents stay as homely as possible.
Wisteria House (Woolwell) Dementia Care has been a breath of fresh air, having had to place my mother in two other care homes first. The home does have excellent activities but my mother is bedbound in her room and not able to take part. The staff have tried to engage her more (lights, music, very large PC screen). We do wish the home could provide more information on the residents' actions, behaviours etc. But they are very quick to inform us of any critical change. I thank the staff and the homeowner wholeheartedly.
I have been visiting a long-term friend who has been here for a couple of months and can't help but admire the care and attention given to the residents, nothing seems too much trouble. I have never visited a residential home with the cleanliness of Wisteria House. The nice thing that struck me on my first visit is the fresh homely smell. The residents all seem very happy here. Ten out of ten to everyone!
