View Full Details of Abbey View Nursing & Residential HomeIt is difficult to portray in words just how wonderful this home is. I put my mother here for respite back in January and she has stayed here ever since. What makes this home so wonderful is the staff who are amazing. Every member of staff is happy and always willing to help, regardless of their official role and what is being asked. The staff and the home have a real family feel. When something is happening with mother, such as a hospital appointment, every member of staff knows who I am and what is happening with my mother. This is a reflection of the communication amongst the staff and it really shows. I have seen newer more expensive homes where the staff isnt such a positive. This is one of, if not the, best home I have seen. Anyone looking for a home for an elderly relative, whether for respite or permanent residency, will be very hard pressed to find anywhere as good as Abbey View
I came in for four weeks as my family were all away at the same time and they do my shopping/washing etc. If I was here, they would not worry. I know most of the staff as I take a Bible study group once a fortnight and also several residents. Also, my mother was here 10 years. I had a wonderful welcome, which continued throughout the four weeks. The staff was so caring and attentive. The food was excellent and varied. I slept well and made good friends. There is such a warm, friendly atmosphere here.
In my search for a good care home for my older sister, my priorities were to look for a home that was rated highly by, the CQC and where the staff showed kindness, compassion and good nursing care. In addition the home had to be comfortable, well furnished and with a good atmosphere. I was struck by the warm welcome I received in reception and throughout the home. The staff in their distinct uniform to indicate their roles, are a very united team who treat a resident with dignity, make them feel nothing is too much trouble.
My mother has been at Abbey View for 1 year this week and we couldn't be happier. Her health has improved no end now that she is receiving all the care and support that she requires. Not only is she well fed and watered but the activities keep her fit, healthy and engaging with the world. I truly recommend Abbey View.
An excellent service in all respects. The personal care of my condition was very caring and sympathetic by both the nursing and care staff. The medication was always prompt and well organised, and as initially I felt a little confused at times, there was never any problem in when or what should be taken. The personal care was very good, The meals were always varied and encouraged me to eat more. Being also Coeliac, was not a problem for the excellent chef, As I became more mobile, it was possible to visit the garden every day, to exercise my rather reluctant legs, I was initially rather reluctant to go into respite care, but whilst I hope not to repeat the experience, I have retuned home in a much better state. There are no complaints, all the staff were so kind, understanding and supportive, and I thank them all with respect and gratitude. They put me back together. Thank you
My mother came to Abbey View in April 2023 and settled wonderfully during the eleven months she had with you. From the first time we visited, we have been treated with care, kindness and friendship. Mum became increasingly fond and used to care, nursing and activity staff alike and was able to share important aspects of her long and happy life with people who really listened so well. As a family, we can not thank all the staff enough, particularly in their support and care of us in her final week with you. You are just a super, super team.
The whole team at Abbey View are efficient, calm and caring. The purpose-built home is comfortable with great rooms and several comfortable spaces for social interaction. The nursing staff are both responsive and proactive in monitoring my mother's health. The activities coordinator is inventive and committed. All very good.
The level of care and support our whole family received during a very difficult and emotional time was truly outstanding. My mother-in-law could not have received better care. The whole staff team were so thoughtful, gentle and understanding. It is clear that the home is incredibly well led cultivating a team ethic which is second to none. We cannot thank you all enough for your professionalism and kindness.
Abbey View ticks all the boxes and fully merits its grading as 'excellent' on all counts. It is well-run. Without exception the staff are kind, competent and enthusiastic and always helpful. I cannot find fault with Abbey View. Its fees are money well spent, I cannot say more.
From the moment I first visited Abbey View, I knew it was an amazing place for Mum to stay. Every member of staff is so friendly and helpful in every way. My sister and I think the same. Cleanliness is pristine - in fact, more like a five-star hotel. Everywhere smells fresh. The room Mum is in is perfect and always clean and tidy. Her clothes well looked after and she always looks so nice when we visit. We know Mum is now safe and secure and that is peace for us. I know Mum does not eat much, but what we have seen of the food is amazing!
Abbey View provided Dad with the care he needed and as his needs grew, so did the support he received from the staff. Nothing was too difficult. As a family, we were kept informed and were able to help Dad make informed decisions. Obviously, we rather would not need the services provided or Dad to have been in care but I could think of no better place for him to have lived when that level of care was required.
My 3-month stay here has been excellent. The staff are always pleasant and happy to help. There have been some entertainment group activities. My ongoing situation is uncertain but if I need permanent residential care I would be very happy to reside at Abbey View. My appetite isn't good hence the slightly reduced rating.
This nursing home is providing homely and yet professional care for our friend. We really have nothing but praise for all that happens at the home. We are welcome whenever we call. The "coffee shop" is a particular boon. It is never smelly or unkempt. We have another friend who has been in Abbey View Nursing & Residential Home for two years and he is equally lovingly cared for.
A short service was needed for respite care. From the very start, the welcome and support could not have been better. As the recipient, I was made welcome from first contact. The assessment was deep and took into account my needs, social, medical and emotional. From the start, and now four weeks in, the support I have been given has been excellent at all times. And my wife has been supported equally well. My stay is short-term, but if needed, I would happily stay here.
As a nurse, I am very aware of all aspects of the care of older people. My mother has been a resident at Abbet View for over a year, and her care has been really excellent. During her "well days", she has been looked after with a "light" touch, and on her frail day, she has been cared for with impressive attention to detail. All the staff I have had contact with have been great.
Our experience here has been excellent, everybody has been very friendly and helpful and the whole atmosphere is very cheerful.
A very friendly atmosphere with all the staff being very helpful. A lovely place.
Friendly staff and residents and many opportunities for hands-on and mental activities to keep us occupied.
My Mother was a resident at Abbey View for over 7 years. She was beautifully cared for throughout that time. The home was always clean and fresh. The staff were fantastic and caring. The staffing ratio in my experience was very good. Many of the staff were long-serving members which indicates the apparent good morale. During her final illness, my Mother could not have been cared for better and she was given a huge amount of time and care by all the staff. Abbey View and especially the Staff were fantastic.
Very friendly and comfortable.
