It was a hard decision to put my mum into a nursing home. My family and I agree that Oake Meadows Nursing Home was the best choice. My mum feels happy and cared for completely. Nothing is too much trouble. She is respected and her needs are met. Well done to all the staff there and thank you.

Very welcoming home. Carers have always made me feel reassured that my friend is well cared for. The staff here are so nice, calm and nothing is ever to much trouble. They have gone above and beyond always for my friend. Sharon is amazing, such a lovely carer who is a credit to the home!

As I said before I am pleased with the care Willow Ward carers & sisters there are looking after my husband. The carers are all very friendly to me and my sons.

This review relates to the Willow Ward. The staff and management have been very good in care, and we have been kept informed of any developments. Food good. Carers a bit thin on the ground at times. Obviously not there 24/7, but on the whole we have had a good experience.

Mum has been at Oak Meadows for just over two years. She has just made the transition from residential care to nursing care.
The staff took care of everything whilst she was hospitalised and her new room is perfect. Clean, comfortable, her pictures and furniture all in place, making the room as
she likes.
As she enters palliative care the staff are nothing short of magnificent. As always, we can visit anytime, day or night, and if we are not here staff sit with mum to ensure she is not alone.
Mum is kept comfortable and treated with the utmost respect by a caring and loving staff who engage with the family to ensure all needs are met or exceeded - especially when it came to facilitating mum returning to the home from hospital.
The home is undoubtedly the best place for her. I cannot thank the staff enough for all their care and love, and that is everyone from the bottom to the top.
Thank you all at Oak Meadows.

My mum received the most amazing care with compassion and professionalism at all times. When myself and my husband came to visit my mother, we were made to feel very welcome. Thank you to everybody at the care home for caring for my mum.

I wouldn't wish a homeless person coming in here. This isn't a care home but a dumping ground for the elderly people who have dementia. My poor mum was shut in a shed-like room. We were told she couldn't go into the lounge or dining room or take part in activities, that's if they had any. Her room
was clean but that's it. Mum's Christmas gift went missing including most of Mum's clothes. It's certainly not a loving homely place at all. Prison is better than this place so please be aware of you choosing this place to care for your loved one.

The whole experience my nan and us as a family received here was awful. My poor nan was left all day every day in her room, the majority of staff were far from professional and the care in general was terrible. The notes weren't always the truth as they used to write that she had declined food even
though I sat with her and assisted her with many of her meals which she ate all of, and the staff could never give us proper updates and were very cold hearted and didn't seem to actually want to be there. We were told she wouldn't be able to take part in activities or sit in the lounge diner with other residents which was a red flag for me from the start. Also they lost half a wardrobe of my nan's clothes which were labelled, as well as loosing some sentimental items of hers which yet again they didn't care. I was a HCA in a nursing home and my god, I've never seen such a cold hearted run down place in my years. Some days I would visit my nan and felt I was having to do their job for them.

My wife has been a resident for three years. My experience has been very positive. I have nothing but praise for staff and facilities.

My mother was on the willow ward at Oake Meadows, Trull in Taunton. The staff were very kind compassionate and caring to my mum and our family. They allowed dogs in to visit which all residents loved. We are so very grateful for everything. Mum was 94 and actually died of frailty, we could not have
asked for better interactions from all staff, nurses, helpers, and cleaners, everyone was wonderful and respectful. They treated the whole family with dignity, genuine care, and support.

My mum came into Oake Meadows at a very stressful time for the family, coping with dementia with both mum and dad and not knowing how to manage the future. The staff without exception have been incredibly supportive and understanding, prioritising mum's needs but also huge empathy for dad too,
making him feel so welcome when visiting and helping him to understand what is going on. The communication from the team is excellent, we visit a lot and they keep us updated and have always rung immediately to update us if there is an issue. The connection with Musgrove Hospital and doctors is very effective. The rooms are very well laid out and the outdoor courtyard is a lovely relaxing space. We have visited Oake Meadows at many different times of the day and mum, when not dozing, has always either been chatting with a carer, enjoying the great food or the team have been carefully engaged in her well-being. I cannot praise enough the staff and the high standard of care, thank you all.

As we approach my nan being in the care home for almost a year I wanted to share how wonderful the care home has been for her.
The staff are always so kind and welcoming. My nan adjusted to the setting really well & she is clearly well-liked and cared about. There is an array of activities that
are planned well in advance including reptiles, lamas, bingo, Elvis singers & family favourites such as bingo. The care home has a lovely homely feel & there is always improvements being made. They have their own resident cat called Petal and a dog we often see going around with the staff. We are welcome any time of the day and all family members plus pets are welcome too. I am truly grateful for the incredible nursing staff who look after my nan so well. I wouldn’t want her to be anywhere else. The home is always very clean and tidy. Meals are varied & there is always more available. I’m so pleased we picked this as my nan’s home.

I cannot thank the staff at Oake Meadows enough for the care that my mum (96) has received since going into Willow Ward for respite in January 2023 following a fall and breaking her leg, then transferring to Rose Ward in September 2023 as a permanent resident. I really couldn’t have chosen a better
home for her. The staff are fantastic, caring, helpful, polite and sympathetic to all her needs. Each person is treated as an individual. Their care for the relative of the resident is second to none, always on hand for advice, a sympathetic ear and a never-ending supply of tea. Arranged activities including singers, alpacas, snakes, birds of prey are all looked forward to by my mum along with the bingo, word games, skittles and colouring. I can now relax, knowing my mum is safe and well cared for. Thank you Oake Meadows.

My husband has received friendly, empathetic and professional care since his entry into this care home. Nothing is too much trouble, and the staff all seek to provide care tailor-made to each resident. This has greatly reassured not only my husband but us as a family. We are welcome at any time and
to any of the varied and innovative events organised for the residents.

I would like to express that we are very satisfied with the care and cleanliness of Oake Meadows Nursing Home where my father has been a resident for the last 7 months or so! All the staff that we have come into contact with over time have been very friendly/professional and always welcoming! Also,
I would also like to mention the fantastic housekeeping that a particular staff member and his family do, he and his wife and daughter are always friendly and happy, and do a brilliant job! Thank you!

The care and support given to my partner during his time at Oake Meadows was amazing. All of the staff were kind and caring. Myself and my family were always made to feel welcome, and I always knew that my partner was well cared for. His final days were made as comfortable as possible for him, and
he was treated with the utmost respect at all times. S,o thank you to all the staff at Oake Meadows; you are truly amazing.

My dad 92 came to Oake Meadows Nursing Home, Chestnut Unit in August 2023 we were very sceptical as the home he had come from had been the wrong type of placement. All I can say is that we need not have worried as my dad settled very quickly. This is down to all the amazing staff at Oake Meadows
treating Dad with amazing care and looking at him as an individual and not someone that just has dementia and wouldn't know any better. The staff are amazing and I have to single out one staff member as her support for myself has been without doubt invaluable. Nothing is ever too much trouble. My dad's stay at Oake Meadows was always temporary until a care home nearer and the right placement was found. I know Dad will miss Oake Meadows and as a family, we will too. I cannot thank all of them enough as they have made a very difficult time for our family easier than we could have ever imagined.

Kind, friendly staff. Very caring and considerate. They looked after my cousin, who was diagnosed with a terminal illness, for three years until he passed away. The staff did a wonderful job and made my relative as comfortable as possible during his time at Oake Meadows. Very impressed and very
grateful. Thank you everybody.

Mum was transferred to Willow unit at Oake Meadows Nursing Home following a long stay in hospital. All of the staff were welcoming and friendly from the moment she arrived. Unfortunately, Mum was very poorly and passed away after only a week, however, the end-of-life care she was given was
outstanding. All of the staff showed compassion and care and ensured Mum was respected at all times. The staff also went above and beyond to support us as a family. My niece and I spent the majority of the week by Mum's side. They provided us with refreshments and even bedding to make us more comfortable, as well as invaluable emotional support. Having a resident cat and allowing other pets to visit also added to the warm and friendly atmosphere. I cannot thank Oake Meadows enough for making a very sad and difficult time easier.
09 November 2022
My mum has only been at Oak Meadows around six weeks or so, but I've felt that she's settled well and is looked after.
I visit three to four times a week and have always walked into a calm, chilled environment. I would recommend anyone to view or visit this care home and meet the lovely friendly
staff there. Nothing is too much trouble for them. I appreciate all they do for my mum.
