As a family it was one of the most difficult decisions we had to make to put him in a care home but it became impossible to keep him safe with his unpredictable behaviour due to him suffering from Alzheimer's.
From our first encounter with Oake Meadows, they put us at ease and reassured us that he would be well cared for and we would be informed of any changes to his health or behaviour that we needed to be made aware of and they were true to their word and this has always been the case .
We are regular visitors to Oake Meadows and we see first hand the care and dedication that the staff gives to the residents . They manage to keep them calm and safe and we often attend the entertainment that they provide including regular singers , bingo , church services and much more .
I would have no problem recommending Oake Meadows to anyone who is in the same situation as us .
We understand how difficult the decision to move a loved one into a care home can be, so it means a great deal to know that we were able to reassure you from the very beginning. We are delighted to hear that you...
I was taken to Oake Meadows following an accident and hip replacement surgery. The room was bright and light, with an amazing view of the fields behind. Any service and maintenance issues were addressed promptly to make my stay as comfortable as possible. There were a variety of nursing care requirements / ages of resident in the same Wing (Willow). These included dementia which was a bit unsettling on first arrival (my dad died of Lewy Bodies in 2016), but I soon joined in with the rhythm of the care home and enjoyed speaking with the residents & the care staff. Special thanks to the chefs who always took my allergies seriously and cooked delicious home made food and the maintenance staff. I'm hoping I won't need to return - but I was actually sad to leave as it's a very supportive and authentic care home. Hopefully in the future they will get funding for a Taurus in the Physio dept as that helped me get back on my feet - but I got the next best thing.
We are delighted to hear that your stay with us was a positive and supportive experience. It means a great deal to know that you felt comfortable in your room and enjoyed the peaceful...
Mum moved here a year ago, we were reluctant as the home she was in she was settled and well looked after. However I couldn't ask for better care or a better place for my mum to be! The team and management are some of the most wonderful people I have ever met. The facilities are wonderful the care and support they give not just my mum but myself as well I couldn't ask for more.

My Mother has been at Oakemeadows since September 2025. The staff are very friendly and caring, and they make my wife and I feel very welcome when we visit. She is very happy there which makes us happy. She enjoys the entertainment which is very good. We would recommend this home.

The staff at Oake Meadows are all so caring, compassionate and helpful. Nothing is too much for them. My mother-in-law can be quite awkward at times but they remain very patient and always will help her. I would recommend Oake Meadows Care Home to anyone looking for a Care Home/Nursing Home.

Very welcoming home. Carers have always made me feel reassured that my friend is well cared for. The staff here are so nice, calm and nothing is ever to much trouble. They have gone above and beyond always for my friend. Sharon is amazing, such a lovely carer who is a credit to the home!

As I said before I am pleased with the care Willow Ward carers & sisters there are looking after my husband. The carers are all very friendly to me and my sons.

This review relates to the Willow Ward. The staff and management have been very good in care, and we have been kept informed of any developments. Food good. Carers a bit thin on the ground at times. Obviously not there 24/7, but on the whole we have had a good experience.
We're really pleased to hear that you have felt well informed and supported by both our staff and management team, and that you've been happy with the care provided and the quality of the food. Keeping families updated and ensuring residents receive compassionate, high-quality care is extremely...
The staff took care of everything whilst she was hospitalised and her new room is perfect. Clean, comfortable, her pictures and furniture all in place, making the room as she likes.
As she enters palliative care the staff are nothing short of magnificent. As always, we can visit anytime, day or night, and if we are not here staff sit with mum to ensure she is not alone.
Mum is kept comfortable and treated with the utmost respect by a caring and loving staff who engage with the family to ensure all needs are met or exceeded - especially when it came to facilitating mum returning to the home from hospital.
The home is undoubtedly the best place for her. I cannot thank the staff enough for all their care and love, and that is everyone from the bottom to the top.
Thank you all at Oak Meadows.
My mum received the most amazing care with compassion and professionalism at all times. When myself and my husband came to visit my mother, we were made to feel very welcome. Thank you to everybody at the care home for caring for my mum.
Thank you so much for your kind words with are much appreciated by everyone. We love caring for our residents and making sure they feel happy and safe. It is so good to know that all the team's hard work is recognised.
I wouldn't wish a homeless person coming in here. This isn't a care home but a dumping ground for the elderly people who have dementia. My poor mum was shut in a shed-like room. We were told she couldn't go into the lounge or dining room or take part in activities, that's if they had any. Her room was clean but that's it. Mum's Christmas gift went missing including most of Mum's clothes. It's certainly not a loving homely place at all. Prison is better than this place so please be aware of you choosing this place to care for your loved one.
We are sorry that you feel your experience of our home was not positive. We are always happy to discuss individual concerns with residents and their families and we have been talking with a member of your family. Our home is a happy and welcoming place and this, and the care and support given, is reflected in the many five-star reviews we receive.
The whole experience my nan and us as a family received here was awful. My poor nan was left all day every day in her room, the majority of staff were far from professional and the care in general was terrible. The notes weren't always the truth as they used to write that she had declined food even though I sat with her and assisted her with many of her meals which she ate all of, and the staff could never give us proper updates and were very cold hearted and didn't seem to actually want to be there. We were told she wouldn't be able to take part in activities or sit in the lounge diner with other residents which was a red flag for me from the start. Also they lost half a wardrobe of my nan's clothes which were labelled, as well as loosing some sentimental items of hers which yet again they didn't care. I was a HCA in a nursing home and my god, I've never seen such a cold hearted run down place in my years. Some days I would visit my nan and felt I was having to do their job for them.

My wife has been a resident for three years. My experience has been very positive. I have nothing but praise for staff and facilities.
This is so lovely and the whole team really appreciate your kind words. We aim to care for our residents in a happy and safe environment and it's lovely when it is appreciated.
My mother was on the willow ward at Oake Meadows, Trull in Taunton. The staff were very kind compassionate and caring to my mum and our family. They allowed dogs in to visit which all residents loved. We are so very grateful for everything. Mum was 94 and actually died of frailty, we could not have asked for better interactions from all staff, nurses, helpers, and cleaners, everyone was wonderful and respectful. They treated the whole family with dignity, genuine care, and support.
Thanks, your kind words are much appreciated by everyone at Oake Meadows. We always strive to do our very best for our wonderful residents.
My mum came into Oake Meadows at a very stressful time for the family, coping with dementia with both mum and dad and not knowing how to manage the future. The staff without exception have been incredibly supportive and understanding, prioritising mum's needs but also huge empathy for dad too, making him feel so welcome when visiting and helping him to understand what is going on. The communication from the team is excellent, we visit a lot and they keep us updated and have always rung immediately to update us if there is an issue. The connection with Musgrove Hospital and doctors is very effective. The rooms are very well laid out and the outdoor courtyard is a lovely relaxing space. We have visited Oake Meadows at many different times of the day and mum, when not dozing, has always either been chatting with a carer, enjoying the great food or the team have been carefully engaged in her well-being. I cannot praise enough the staff and the high standard of care, thank you all.
Thank you so much for your kind words. This means a lot to everyone at Oake Meadows.
The staff are always so kind and welcoming. My nan adjusted to the setting really well & she is clearly well-liked and cared about. There is an array of activities that are planned well in advance including reptiles, lamas, bingo, Elvis singers & family favourites such as bingo. The care home has a lovely homely feel & there is always improvements being made. They have their own resident cat called Petal and a dog we often see going around with the staff. We are welcome any time of the day and all family members plus pets are welcome too. I am truly grateful for the incredible nursing staff who look after my nan so well. I wouldn’t want her to be anywhere else. The home is always very clean and tidy. Meals are varied & there is always more available. I’m so pleased we picked this as my nan’s home.
I cannot thank the staff at Oake Meadows enough for the care that my mum (96) has received since going into Willow Ward for respite in January 2023 following a fall and breaking her leg, then transferring to Rose Ward in September 2023 as a permanent resident. I really couldn’t have chosen a better home for her. The staff are fantastic, caring, helpful, polite and sympathetic to all her needs. Each person is treated as an individual. Their care for the relative of the resident is second to none, always on hand for advice, a sympathetic ear and a never-ending supply of tea. Arranged activities including singers, alpacas, snakes, birds of prey are all looked forward to by my mum along with the bingo, word games, skittles and colouring. I can now relax, knowing my mum is safe and well cared for. Thank you Oake Meadows.
My husband has received friendly, empathetic and professional care since his entry into this care home. Nothing is too much trouble, and the staff all seek to provide care tailor-made to each resident. This has greatly reassured not only my husband but us as a family. We are welcome at any time and to any of the varied and innovative events organised for the residents.
Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We really do appreciate your feedback and kind words. We are pleased that you are happy with the care your husband receives. Our staff always strive to look after our residents with a person-centred approach, and it is nice for this to be recognised. I will certainly share your kind words with our team. Regards
