My wife entered Oake Meadows in February, when her advancing Alzheimer's and the Covid crisis started to seriously worry me about continuing to look after her. I have been very much delighted by the care she has received, in particular, that everyone uses her name, and that she has settled in so well. Much to my surprise, she is now spending more time awake and is communicating better than when she first came in. I am also impressed by the way in which the staff treat visitors, even in the crisis.
I feel that my mum is in very good hands, and the staff are very kind and patient. The facilities, rooms and common areas are spotlessly clean. The organisation, in general, has coped very well with the Covid situation, and my mum has been protected extremely well. No complaints from me.
The staff have been excellent throughout the nearly year that my father has been in Oake Meadows. They have cared for him brilliantly and tried to provide for his difficult needs. My mother and myself have been kept informed throughout, and the positive and helpful inputs have helped to make the beat of a dreadful time. I cannot thank them enough for their care in the true sense of the word tremendous.
My mother was placed into an NHS funded bed on Willow for physio and rehab following a hip replacement. She has dementia. Initially, I fought against this, preferring a community hospital bed where I could continue to visit her. However, although I could not visit Mum due to COVID restrictions, she appeared to settle well. The one thing that makes this Home exceptional is the staff. I am not allowed to mention them by name, but I hope they know who they are. They went out of their way to ensure I could FaceTime Mum every evening, to the extent that they gave me their personal mobile numbers to facilitate this. They went far over and above their role by ensuring I always knew who was working on any one particular evening and responded to my text messages, even when they weren't working that day. I cannot thank them or praise them enough. Care work is a difficult and often thankless task. These two colleagues were just amazing in their kindness and dedication.
I came in after a fall and a broken hip, which was repaired by surgery at hospital. I have been recovering here, and received good physiotherapy and help with walking. My experience has been generally positive, and the staff have been very kind.
The home always looked clean and well maintained. Dad’s needs were always delt with.
When they moved Dad across to the nursing side the extra care that he needed by the staff was brilliant.
I have been very impressed with the empathy and consistent kindness of all the staff. I never announce my visits and have never witnessed any bad practice. I cannot praise the staff enough for their overall care and kindness.
Oake Meadows is the second care home he has lived in since leaving hospital in March 2019. There is no comparison between the two as Oake Meadows excels in all aspects against the previous one. The management staff took great care to ensure a smooth transition and everything has been very upbeat and positive since then. The staff here are inspirational, warm and caring and will always go the "extra mile" to ensure the very best for all residents. My father is very fortunate to be here! Thank you! Awesome!
The only slightly negative point to be made is that it is sometimes quite difficult to contact the staff by phone. However, the staff always keep us informed if my dad is ill or has suffered any minor mishaps.
I give Oake Meadows a 100% recommendation to anyone looking to join Oake Meadows in the future you will find a lovely home.
A very happy home, very helpful, cheerful and hardworking staff. My husband is being well looked after and is very happy here.
Oake Meadows is by far the greatest home! The staff there is amazing and so helpful! The loveliest people! I’ve been in Oake Meadows working and it has been an absolute privilege knowing these people and how hard they work for the residents there! There’s never anything too much for them to help anyone out!
I now feel that he is safe and secure and this has given me my life back.
The food is lovely and he has managed to even put on weight. The place is lovely and clean and nothing is too much trouble.
The staff who do the entertaining with the residents are very talented and have lots of patience with them.
I have looked at quite a few nursing homes and I can honestly say that I feel that, with the really friendly staff and everything else that goes with it, you would have to go a long way to match it.
My mum is a long-term resident and I would like to say that what makes Oake Meadows stand out for me is the fantastic team of dedicated and professional staff and the love and care that my mum receives. It is also very reassuring to see so many of the same staff members when I visit, many of whom have been looking after my mum since she first arrived. Since the new management, I must also say that things have gone from strength to strength, not only with the leadership but the whole place has also been spruced up and is very welcoming and homely. I would recommend Oake Meadows to anyone facing the difficult decision of finding a care home for a loved one.
Only a short stay until the end but found The Manor was very good. Staff were excellent. Would recommend to friends and family.
During the time of my Father's stay at Sherford we have witnessed significant change. If you spend time researching this home there is evidence of challenges that have affected the business with the lack of communication that had caused issues with daily care. I can wholeheartedly say things are changing towards a more positive direction.
My father began his time in the residential space and came across to his current part of the home when he needed more specialist care. During this time we have been blessed to meet kind hearted people who provide the best possible care for him when guided by leaders in professional standards. I am pleased to report that there are key individuals in all regions of Sherford who excel in seeing the person behind the illness. The home has been given fresh ideas and a makeover which respects the happiness and space of a person who receives the care of Sherford and all it has to offer. I sincerely hope to see more of the same from the team.
Lovely care home. The home is currently undergoing a refurbishment and is really starting to look inviting and homely with a happy and positive atmosphere from the staff who are all very helpful and friendly.
