View Full Details of Abbey Park Nursing HomeMy dad has been in Abbey park since December 2024. Dad is always clean, well shaved and in clean clothes every day. His meals look absolutely delicious and he is eating better now than has done in the last few years. My dad has come on so well in the months he has been here and that's down to the excellent care he receives, nothing is to much trouble. The carers as very passionate regarding their jobs ,my dad is treated with respect and dignity at all times. The activity program in place for the residents and for visitors to join in too is excellent ,painting, sing alongs , craft making , visits to pubs and so much more. The activities coordinator goes above and beyond to help keep the residents busy and minds active. We as a family are very happy with the care dad receives at Abbey park.
Staff are very kind and treat guests with respect. The visits are very nice. Residential apartments are unique in having private lounge area/kitchenette. Guests are very well cared for. Concern- when lift was out of order (10 days), there was no alternative for guests to leave the room if on 1st floor as stairlift does not work. What would happen in case of fire? Would be good if staff checked weekly for out-of-date produce as part of cleaning routine.
My mother-in-law, who suffers with vascular dementia, became a resident of Abbey Park some years ago. My father-in-law visited daily. He was in his 90's and the staff showed just as much concern for his welfare as they would for their residents, which was reassuring for the family. They were both treated with such kindness and consideration. My mother-in-law requires full assistance with her daily needs and is always clean and well supported with her dignity respected. When my father-in-law's health deteriorated, he was happy to join his wife at the care home and felt very welcome. He was relatively independent and this was respected. As his health continued to deteriorate, it was closely monitored. Sadly it reached the point where he required hospital admission and he passed away. We are very grateful for the care and kindness shown to him for the year he was resident at Abbey Park.
My Sister was a resident for just over three years before passing away. She was in a suite which she enjoyed very much and valued. She was able to appreciate her situation, adapted to getting around safely with the help of a walking frame and was able to visit other residents in their rooms as well as to make her way to the dining room for lunch. The varied activities programme was something that she enjoyed and would encourage others to participate in. She valued the services provided by the Home Chaplain and was glad to help with the Services. She was also happy to be a Residents representative on the house committee and would represent their needs as part of that role. Medication was dealt with efficiently, especially the numerous eye drops which she required each day. Occasionally problems with laundry occurred and responded to. Financial matters were efficiently dealt.
My sister was sent to Abbey Park from hospital. She was received warmly and made welcome which made her happy. She was cared for very well and eventually became more independant with care in showering and washing. Her tablets and eye drops were administered by the nurse. She joined in all the activities . A minister and recently Salvation Army Officer came to the home and conducted a service and communion which was important to my sister. She sadly passed away recently but was happy and content to the end.
My mother was a resident at the care home for nine months, but has recently passed away. It took her a little while to settle in as she really wanted to stay in her own home. However, the care home is clean, warm and comfortable and the facilities are excellent. Thanks to the kind, caring, professional attitude of the staff, who are very approachable, she soon settled. Mum was treated with dignity and respect as her individual needs were met and was well looked after. She formed a close bond with some members of staff and always looked forward to seeing them.
Overall we found the care home be very good however, Mum felt it was understaffed she didn't like to press her call bell because they were busy so she often struggled to make a cup of tea or to get herself dressed. She also stated some staff would insist she could do things for herself and others said she shouldn't due to her frailty. Although there is entertainment through the week, I felt this could have been better and there was nothing at the weekend whereas it should have been staff led activities. All in all though, staff were pleasant and mum was looked after. For mum, some staff were excellent and she reaped their praises.
My mother recently passed away peacefully in hospital after almost a years residency at this wonderful caring and compassionate care home. Her time here was, full and engaging, the aptitude from staff is excellent, my mothers needs were well catered for, she was treated with dignity, grace and compassion from all staff, top to bottom. This is a care home that provides real care to real people, whatever their needs and should I ever need assisted living, this is the place for me.
My Mum is 93 and has been a resident at Abbey Park for almost four years now and I consider that she is very fortunate to be there. From the outset, they cared for Mum with great kindness, dignity and patience and became like an extended family to her and us. All the staff really do care about their resident's mental and physical wellbeing and they extend that to the wider family as well. They always try to encourage everyone to treat Abbey Park as if it were their own home and join in with the daily variety of stimulating sessions and regular events. With their help, Mum has eventually settled down nicely and has even regained her sense of humour which makes visiting a lot more pleasant and enables us to spend quality time together now. I honestly think that Abbey Park is a lovely place with a nice atmosphere and the dedicated staff have worked wonders with my mum, for that I am truly grateful.
My nan's very happy here - all the staff are great and she loves the different activities that she can get involved with and that there is such a range of activities. Thanks to the staff and everyone involved.
My wife always says she likes the staff and the home but she would rather be at home. She has never once in 10 months passed a negative comment re the home. I, her husband appreciate how well the staff is coping with the never-ending query "When am I going home?". Please keep up the very good work.
Our Mum and Dad were residents at Abbey Park. Mum initially in Avon and then she moved to Arden when Dad joined her there. Our parents were cared for with compassion, care and respect. Any problems or questions we had were dealt with quickly and communication with us was open and honest. The staff on both Arden and Avon were for the most part incredible. They worked hard to develop trust and understanding, particularly with Mum. It's not easy when you work with people with Dementia. Thank you all for taking care of our parents with such care, commitment and fun. Sadly both of our parents have now passed away, Mum on 15th July 2024 and Dad just 11 days later on 26th July. The whole team at Abbey Park were kind and respectful towards our family and supportive. Thank you all.
The staff and care is excellent. Lovely gardens lovely food. I'm made to feel welcome here. Mum does lots of activities and enjoys them, my mum had been on trips and has settled in really well. Recommended to all.
My mum has been in Abbey Park for just over a year now. When Mum moved in she was nervous and anxious but soon settled and made friends with the staff and residents. The staff is hard-working, patient, kind, and caring and treats residents like they are their own family. When I visit I feel welcome and often chat with Mum and the other residents who are all lovely, we often have a bit of a sing song, even though I may cause it to rain with my singing. The food is fresh and tasty with choices which is good, as mum can be fussy. Mum likes activities like Bingo, crafting, and singing, especially if there is a singer on. The managers are all friendly and approachable, so if there are any problems, queries, or anything I need help with regarding Mum, I know I can knock on their door. The building is spotless, clean, and tidy, with a lovely smell of air freshener, as the cleaning staff work hard to ensure that it is kept this way. I would recommend Abbey Park to everyone.
My auntie has been a resident at the home for almost three years. On arrival, she was unhappy and confused, and continually questioning why she couldn’t be in her own home. But, despite the restrictions of the Covid pandemic, she settled in well, and is now a happy member of the Abbey Park “family”. She looks well, and it is obvious that the staff are looking after both her physical, and mental health. As a member of her family, I am made to feel welcome, I always feel comfortable when visiting, and all members of staff are approachable and friendly. Residents are encouraged to socialise, and have regular entertainment and activities. I have visited several care homes over the past few years, and Abbey Park is, by far, the best I have encountered.
My mum has been at Abbey Park Nursing Home for eleven months and every dealing I’ve had with all staff has been excellent. My mum is looked after extremely well and has improved in herself since being here. She has a great interaction with the staff who have also built up a good relationship with my dad who says he feels like part of the Abbey Park family himself. I cannot recommend the home highly enough.
My dad recently stayed at Abbey Park for a short period. The staff were so kind and welcoming. Everybody was so helpful from maintenance and kitchen staff, nurses and cares, nothing was too much trouble. The office and management staff were wonderful and couldn't do enough for us as a family, highly recommended to all.
My father was only at Abbey Park for a short time, but I cannot express the professionalism which we encountered from every member of staff at Abbey Park. The staff in the Arden Ward made my dad's last few months comfortable and peaceful - we were shown nothing but kindness. For this, we will be forever grateful.
I believe the staff deliver a high quality of care in very, very challenging circumstances. Are there any occasions when I could make a negative comment, of course, the answer is yes. However, we have to consider all of the patients will be asking for attention often at the same moment in time. I personally could not deliver anything the quality of care that Abbey Park Nursing Home provide. I have always found the care home manager extremely approachable and willing to listen to any comments I make. I can't think of a better care home than Abbey Park.
My step father was cared for over a period of time throughout the summer, allowing our family some time to celebrate our wedding abroad knowing he was cared for just as we could have hoped for. During his respite stay, the staff and management could not have been any more accommodating. The food, activities and staff were excellent. We could not of wished for a more perfect care home for him to stay. A huge thank you to all the staff at Abbey Park.
