My mother has been a resident since July 2024 and has been looked after both with excellent care from carers and nursing staff.

The home is split into 4 units. Each unit has a lounge and dining area which we are all able to use. Activities are undertaken on each of the units and residents can also

be taken to another unit for entertainment. Entainment is provided by 2 excellent activities co-ordinators. External entertainers also attend home such as singers.

As a relative I feel it is like being a member of a big Abbey Park family. If you want to make a cup of tea for mum and I. I am free to do so. Also I am allowed to stay with mum at mealtimes and have a meal with her.
Also can visit anytime. Well done.

The staff at Abbey Park have done everything they can to help my Father, nothing has been too much trouble. Everyone is so friendly, knowledgeable and committed to caring for him as well as they possibly can. He has a cosy flat where he can potter around, making himself drinks and snacks as he wishes,
and he can join others in the communal dining and lounge areas for activities and meals, giving him both the freedom to maintain his independence or to join others whenever he wants. Management are approachable and effective, his care team, activities team & chaplain are caring & professional and everything is clean and tidy due to diligent domestic and maintenance staff who are on hand every day. Deciding to move a loved one into a care home is never easy, but we know with Abbey Park, we've made the right decision.
Reply from Tina Thompson, Home Manager at Abbey Park Nursing HomeThank you so much for your lovely comments, I will pass these on to all staff involved. I hope your father enjoys his stay with us and is able to maintain as much of his valued independence whilst residing here

Writing this review with a heavy heart after the passing of my wonderful mum. When my mum had to go into a nursing home back in August 2025 I was nervous, sad and anxious about this , on arrival at Abbey Park Avon suite we were made to feel part of a caring community it felt like a family environment
which was so welcoming from day 1 we could tell my mum was going to get all the care and support she needed.
Abbey park staff from all cleaners, carers both day and night who are just amazing my mum thought a lot of you all and you all were so supportive to us as a family and made us feel so welcome and your caring of my mother was exceptional thank you to everyone who cared for my mum and supported us, then the nurses what can I say you were so amazing with the nursing care you gave my mum keeping her out of pain and in her final two weeks keeping her comfortable and pain free so thank you . Chaplin Hayley just a big thank you .

My aunt was cared for at Abbey Park for 5 years. She enjoyed all of the activities on offer at Abbey Park and being a life long Christian she attended the services on a regular basis. The staff were caring and kind and the place has a homely feel. It was always clean and very well kept and when we as
family visited from far away the staff were always friendly and very accommodating. We as a family were always kept up to date about our aunt and they were always happy to take the phone to our aunt when she could no longer use her own. It was reassuring to our family knowing that she was so well cared for as we were so far away.

From the moment I entered Abbey Park I was made welcome. The staff were friendly and easy to get on with. So I chose to spend 3 weeks of respite care at Abbey Park following a hip operation. It was the right decision. I needed some personal care - help with dressing and showering: it was always prompt,
willing, and effective. The food was excellent, especially in terms of variety. I welcomed the chance to join other residents for lunch in the communal area - though many chose to eat in their rooms. My stay included the run up to Christmas, so there was a lively Christmas Fayre and several carol concerts including one led by a Salvation Army band. Otherwise, there would have been organised activity sessions. My accommodation was spacious, consisting of bedroom, lounge, and wet room. The lounge was ideal and convenient for entertaining visitors. I could not have wished for a more caring and supportive environment in which to quietly recuperate. My thanks to all the staff and management.
Reply from Tina Thompson, Home Manager at Abbey Park Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind words Peter. We really enjoyed meeting you and as discussed I hope you feel able to come back and have a cup of coffee or lunch with us one day. I hope you continue to make good progress following your operation

My father was resident at Abbey Park nursing home during the last period of his life. The service he received was of a very high standard throughout. He had his own personal flat with ensuite which was kept scrupulously clean. Food was provided either in the dining room downstairs or brought up to him
in his flat if he ever preferred to stay upstairs. The food was of high quality, and plentiful. Carers were at all times attentive and truly caring towards my father. He would tell us of his lovely chats with carers, cleaning staff, cooks, and the chaplain. We found the level of service to be very high and it was particularly reassuring that Dad really liked his carers, and it was obviously that they really cared for him as well. In the last weeks of his life, they also supported us and kept us informed throughout. It will always be difficult to find a suitable and caring nursing home for a relative, but we definitely felt that we had made the right choice in Abbey Park. Thank you!

I think everyone is nervous when a parent goes into a care home, even though it often becomes a necessity at some point in life. We had other friends who had stayed at Abbey Park and feedback from their families and online reviews gave us the confidence that it was the place for Dad to move to when
the time came.
In all his time at Abbey Park, our Dad was genuinely cared for rather than just looked after, and it gave us all a peace of mind to know that he was in such good hands. His room was always clean, the staff looked after him with dignity, the food was excellent, and he was always clean and well dressed when we went to visit him.
Thank you to all the team, particularly in Sherbourne, where Dad stayed, who made Dad's final few years as comfortable as they did - all the family appreciate your efforts.

My dad was a resident of Abbey Park Care home in his final years. He had a lovely room (flat) that was kept spotlessly clean at all times and was always nice and warm. The staff were excellent - really committed to first class care and very warm, caring and efficient. Dad was very fond of them all.
We could not pick out names as from the carers to the cleaning staff, they all had the same warmth and commitment to giving the residents the best possible experience. There is also a lovely chaplain who regularly visits the residents.
The food is excellent - dad never complained about this apart from to say there was too much of it! Really good quality.
There is a nice garden at the back which dad liked to sit out in with visitors, and a nice dining area with a library of books.
The staff really went above and beyond for him, especially in his final weeks, making sure he was comfortable and we were kept informed at all times. We are so grateful for all everyone did for him, as was he.

My dad has been in Abbey park since December 2024.
Dad is always clean, well shaved and in clean clothes every day.
His meals look absolutely delicious and he is eating better now than has done in the last few years.
My dad has come on so well in the months he has been here and that's down to the
excellent care he receives, nothing is to much trouble.
The carers as very passionate regarding their jobs ,my dad is treated with respect and dignity at all times.
The activity program in place for the residents and for visitors to join in too is excellent ,painting, sing alongs , craft making , visits to pubs and so much more.
The activities coordinator goes above and beyond to help keep the residents busy and minds active.
We as a family are very happy with the care dad receives at Abbey park.

Staff are very kind and treat guests with respect. The visits are very nice. Residential apartments are unique in having private lounge area/kitchenette. Guests are very well cared for.
Concern- when lift was out of order (10 days), there was no alternative for guests to leave the room if on 1st floor
as stairlift does not work. What would happen in case of fire? Would be good if staff checked weekly for out-of-date produce as part of cleaning routine.
Reply from Tina Thompson, Home Manager at Abbey Park Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to complete a review, I am pleased to hear that our staff are kind and treat guests with respect and that you enjoy your visits to Abbey Park. With regards to the lift unfortunately the works required were not predicted therefore we were unable to provide an alternative at that time. However, in the event of a fire we practice horizontal evacuations as you cannot use a lift in a fire situation.Nevertheless, you raise a valid point, and we have recommissioned our stair lift so in the event of a future breakdown there will be an alternative means of mobility between floors.Once again thank you for your review

My mother-in-law, who suffers with vascular dementia, became a resident of Abbey Park some years ago. My father-in-law visited daily. He was in his 90's and the staff showed just as much concern for his welfare as they would for their residents, which was reassuring for the family. They were both treated
with such kindness and consideration. My mother-in-law requires full assistance with her daily needs and is always clean and well supported with her dignity respected.
When my father-in-law's health deteriorated, he was happy to join his wife at the care home and felt very welcome. He was relatively independent and this was respected. As his health continued to deteriorate, it was closely monitored.
Sadly it reached the point where he required hospital admission and he passed away.
We are very grateful for the care and kindness shown to him for the year he was resident at Abbey Park.

My Sister was a resident for just over three years before passing away. She was in a suite which she enjoyed very much and valued. She was able to appreciate her situation, adapted to getting around safely with the help of a walking frame and was able to visit other residents in their rooms as well
as to make her way to the dining room for lunch. The varied activities programme was something that she enjoyed and would encourage others to participate in. She valued the services provided by the Home Chaplain and was glad to help with the Services. She was also happy to be a Residents representative on the house committee and would represent their needs as part of that role. Medication was dealt with efficiently, especially the numerous eye drops which she required each day. Occasionally problems with laundry occurred and responded to. Financial matters were efficiently dealt.

My sister was sent to Abbey Park from hospital. She was received warmly and made welcome which made her happy. She was cared for very well and eventually became more independant with care in showering and washing. Her tablets and eye drops were administered by the nurse. She joined in all the activities
. A minister and recently Salvation Army Officer came to the home and conducted a service and communion which was important to my sister. She sadly passed away recently but was happy and content to the end.

My mother was a resident at the care home for nine months, but has recently passed away. It took her a little while to settle in as she really wanted to stay in her own home. However, the care home is clean, warm and comfortable and the facilities are excellent. Thanks to the kind, caring, professional
attitude of the staff, who are very approachable, she soon settled. Mum was treated with dignity and respect as her individual needs were met and was well looked after. She formed a close bond with some members of staff and always looked forward to seeing them.

Overall we found the care home be very good however, Mum felt it was understaffed she didn't like to press her call bell because they were busy so she often struggled to make a cup of tea or to get herself dressed. She also stated some staff would insist she could do things for herself and others said
she shouldn't due to her frailty. Although there is entertainment through the week, I felt this could have been better and there was nothing at the weekend whereas it should have been staff led activities. All in all though, staff were pleasant and mum was looked after. For mum, some staff were excellent and she reaped their praises.

My Mum is 93 and has been a resident at Abbey Park for almost four years now and I consider that she is very fortunate to be there. From the outset, they cared for Mum with great kindness, dignity and patience and became like an extended family to her and us. All the staff really do care about their
resident's mental and physical wellbeing and they extend that to the wider family as well. They always try to encourage everyone to treat Abbey Park as if it were their own home and join in with the daily variety of stimulating sessions and regular events. With their help, Mum has eventually settled down nicely and has even regained her sense of humour which makes visiting a lot more pleasant and enables us to spend quality time together now. I honestly think that Abbey Park is a lovely place with a nice atmosphere and the dedicated staff have worked wonders with my mum, for that I am truly grateful.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.750 for Abbey Park Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (209 Excellents x 5) + (52 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 268 Ratings = 4.75
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbey Park Nursing Home is based on 23 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
