Overall Experience

Over the past few years, we had both our Mum and our Dad at Abbey Park and both of them enjoyed the very best of care. We are confident that they were well looked after, and we also appreciate the way in which we were welcomed whenever we were able to visit. Even during the pandemic, they made every effort to allow us to see Mum. All of the staff go over and above what is expected of them and we would have no hesitation in recommending Abbey Park, as a very suitable alternative to living at home, when this is no longer safe or possible.

Following her peaceful death I write this as I reflect on the care my Mother-in-Law received at Abbey Park over the years. The first thing to say is that overall the care she received was exceptional, truly exceptional! I have experienced a number of care facilities in relation to the care of my own Mother and none of them came close to that delivered by Abbey Park. As I reflect this level of care so clearly comes from the top and permeates through the staff. The Home Manager and her staff cared for my Mother-in-Law with such wonderful compassion and skill it is hard to describe it adequately. We never had any doubts that she was being looked after as if she was their own loved one. This reassurance made us all as a family supremely confident that she was in the best place and living her life in the best way possible. Thank you Abbey Park, the Home Manager, and the staff. Absolutely brilliant!

My father-in-law stayed at Abbey Park for a few days for emergency respite. The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for him, checking if he was comfortable or needed anything. Management were very friendly and answered any questions we had. Very clean and tidy and good options for food. Overall the experience for my father-in-law was fantastic, couldn’t ask for a better place for respite!

We initially considered, following a glowing reference, Abbey Park as residential accommodation for Dad. However, unfortunately, his health deteriorated after two spells in hospital, and he required nursing care. The Arden Suite team were amazing; compassionate, loving and caring for both Dad and the family. On arrival from hospital, Dad, ninety-seven, and the family were welcomed with a kindness that continued throughout his all too short stay. His end-of-life care was exemplary. This nursing team is supported by excellent administrative, welfare and kitchen staff. The complete Abbey Park Team create a peaceful, thoughtful, dignified, and Christian family atmosphere in which we had total confidence. Thank you.

We are more than happy with the care my mother receives at Abbey Park. She is well looked after and all the staff know her well and she is spotlessly clean. We have great admiration for all the staff. They work extremely hard and are always very pleasant.

I cannot fault the care my mum had at Abbey Park. Sadly she was very poorly when she was moved from hospital to the care home and she passed away after only 2 weeks. But the care she received was fantastic - nothing was too much for the staff. They treated her in such a dignified way, talking to her so kindly and making sure she looked lovely. They were so kind to me too and took the time to support me after mum died. Huge thanks to all.

I could not speak more highly of Abbey Park and the staff there. Sadly my association with the home was short - but the staff - especially the care home manager and several others in particular - went above and beyond to ensure my Grandad was comfortable in his final days. The home itself is very safe, clean, welcoming, and bright, with a peaceful atmosphere and beautiful rooms. The staff care and they treat each resident as an individual, not just numbers. The manager worked so hard to help facilitate my Grandad’s move - and we were just in time. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Abbey Park to anyone - and I will never forget their kindness.

From the moment my mum entered Abbey Park the staff, both carers and admin were so helpful and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff also made sure that my dad was okay even though they didn't have to. All my family would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for providing my mum with such excellent care.

From the moment dad moved to Abbey Park, I breathed a huge sigh of relief. For nearly 5 years, dad received fabulous care and was incredibly well looked after. I have found the manager to be so very kind and compassionate, always looking to do the right thing to enable my dad to have the best possible quality of life. The staff have always been of the highest standard, have been calm and unflappable at all times, down to earth and gentle.

I am extremely happy with the care provided - especially under the current covid visiting restrictions. The person who arranges the visits is extremely helpful and always goes the extra mile to ensure my contact visits are the best possible under the circumstances. All the care home staff I talk to are extremely helpful and talk of mum with affection. I look forward to being able to pop in and just visit mum soon.

I want to say thank you to all the wonderful staff for the absolutely fantastic care that was given to my recently deceased mother for the last five years. I have, myself, worked in mental health care for some years, and am aware of many of the difficulties involved. I spent a long time choosing which care home would be the most pleasant, suitable and comfortable for Mum as her dementia progressed, and can only say how gratified I am that I chose Abbey Park Nursing Home.

She has always, without fail, been treated with the utmost respect and dignity by all of the terrific staff there and I am truly grateful to all of them. It was a huge effort to get her out of hospital and home to Abbey Park for her final thirty days but was definitely worth it. She eventually passed away peacefully and painlessly, which would not have been the case had she remained in hospital.

My dad came to Abbey park for end of life care after he was too ill to be at home. Although it was awful knowing he wouldn’t come home, I cannot recommend this home highly enough. He had a lovely room that was very bright and very clean. The staff went above and beyond to take care of him. Because of COVID, I couldn’t visit him, but they kept me up to date with his daily life. My dad had terminal cancer and vascular dementia, but the staff made sure he was washed and clean-shaven every day which to us as a family and my dad meant the world as he was a very proud man. I was called in on numerous occasions because he deteriorated so much, and every time the staff were very caring and came in to check I was ok and ask if I needed anything. My dad was always very clean and in clean pyjamas every day. I also know that when he was near his time, staff members would pop in and sit with him. I can’t thank everyone enough for the wonderful care they took of my amazing dad.

Since visiting my grandma for the first time at Abbey Park, I was amazed by the excellent staff and facilities. It's unlike any other care home and is the best. We chose this home for my dad as when we looked around it, the feeling was warm and the staff were lovely. We were not disappointed. My dad passed away in March and the last 10 months he was with Abbey Park were the nicest since his dementia was diagnosed. We genuinely felt like he was in a home from home. The staff not only looked after my dad but they got to know the family too and my mum always enjoyed visiting, being able to make a cup of tea and never felt that anything was too much trouble from providing updates or inviting her to join in the activities too. I know mum misses the staff at Abbey Park as I do too. They made my dad's dementia bearable and treated my dad in a kind, loving and respectable way. Well done Abbey Park I would recommend you to anyone.
