My dad has been at Abbey Park for almost 3.5 years. He’s had some poor health in the last few weeks and the care he has received is second to none. The staff show genuine affection for Dad and can always get a smile and twinkle in his eye. The care staff are an absolute credit to Abbey Park. Thanks
to 2 staff members in particular, for being so approachable with any concerns regarding my dad's health and ongoing health.
Had a lovely visit today with Dad, it was nice to see him out of bed and looking so smart, even the little touches of Dad wearing his aftershave.

My review covers a period of almost 4 years during which time our frail, vulnerable elderly mother who is totally blind and has progressive Alzheimer’s, continues to be let down by inconsistent poor care. (Self-funding)
Whilst there are many kind carers, the home is poorly led, poorly managed by the
incumbent manager who is not accountable for poor decision making and epic fails. Frequently off site, she appears not to be motivated by delivering safe nor compassionate care.
The latest let down ( there are numerous - all evidence based) our mother‘s lunch was deposited on her lap. She was left in her room with no light bulb and no TV on. She is supposed to be supported with food/is all care but frequently neglected on key aspects. This home needs an urgent CQC review without advance notice.
A high turnover of staff. A home that needs a competent new manager with a finger on the pulse. Numerous fails monthly. No accountability by the post holder. Evidence based.

I am aware of several complaints that you have made to the home and external bodies during your mother’s stay at Abbey Park, in relation to both care and management concerns, all of which have been thoroughly investigated at home level and via CCG, CQC and Safeguarding. I am also aware you been kept informed of findings and outcomes following any investigation. It is important to note that the home has never been requested to take any action in relation to your mother’s care, however, the Home Manager adopts a positive approach to all concerns raised to consider ways to continually improve the service.
The Home Manager is very experienced and alongside her team, work well together to ensure the home is safe, monitored and that residents are supported appropriately. I am sorry you do not feel this has been your experience but to offer you reassurance, the Home Manager is currently working in partnership with local CCG to achieve a positive outcome for all parties involved.

My grandma has been in Abbey Park Nursing Home on respite twice and now is in permanently. She has dementia and was currently living with my mum but it was too much for my mum to cope with Since being in Abbey Park permanently, we have been so happy with the care, the staff and manager and deputy have
been absolutely amazing and so great. My grandma looks amazing and is well looked after having no concerns, my grandma looks amazing there and is happy there, they have a great understanding of dementia. I know what my grandma is like, I know she is very tearful and can be hard at times but the staff are very reassuring. I love coming to see my grandma, she looks the best she has ever looked and I know she wouldn't get care like she gets there anywhere else. There is plenty there and everyone there goes above and beyond. I've brought my children there and they love coming to see my grandma. The activities they offer there are brilliant for people with dementia and elderly, the staff do an amazing job.

From the time we met the management staff and Dad moved in we knew it would be the right place for Dad. He arrived at the Abbey Park Nursing Home on a Thursday after two spells in hospital and needed nursing care. Straight away the staff on the Arden Suite made my dad and family very welcome. Dad was
97 years old he was treated with dignity, kindness, and respect. The end-of-life care was very good during which time the family were given all the support and help we needed. We were glad Dad spent the last days of his life in a kind, caring, loving environment. All the staff from the nursing staff to the kitchen staff are a credit to Abbey Park Nursing Home.

Have found it difficult to find a place I felt comfortable with for my wife who is in the late stage of early-onset Alzheimer’s. In Abbey Park, I have found a place where the quality of care and the friendliness of the staff ensure my wife returns home after respite both content and relaxed. First and
foremost, it is so reassuring to deal with staff on a specialist unit who are so well informed and equipped to deal with younger people with Alzheimer’s. They are very professional in their care and quickly respond to any concerns or questions you as a carer might have. Home is always spotlessly clean and staff make a determined effort to become well acquainted with their residents. My wife has been in for three periods of respite, yet the care continued to be of a high quality each and every visit. For me and my family, this is our first port of call when respite is required and we will make arrangements to fit in with the availability of a bed. I can think of no higher recommendation.

I chose to move my dad to Abbey Park 4 years ago following a change in his home circumstances. I was apprehensive about sending him to a care home but from the moment I walked in on my first visit, I could tell that this was an amazing place. Prior to the move, Dad had received care at home following
a severe stroke. From day one in Abbey Park, his quality of life was so much better and his physical and mental health improved greatly, he absolutely loved it and never tired of telling everyone so. He was so well cared for and visiting family and friends were always welcomed. Abbey Park staff also did a fantastic job throughout the pandemic keeping him safe and keeping us well informed and involved. I could not have wished for a better place for him to be during that difficult time. When Dad passed away recently his end-of-life care was professional and dignified. The staff at Abbey Park are amazing and I cannot thank them enough.

As a family, we cannot speak highly enough of Abbey Park. The Home Manager is an inspirational leader of a team of staff who are caring, friendly, welcoming, and everything you could wish for your loved ones. They cared for both Dad and Mum and the challenges of covid. They go above and beyond, providing

Over the past few years, we had both our Mum and our Dad at Abbey Park and both of them enjoyed the very best of care. We are confident that they were well looked after, and we also appreciate the way in which we were welcomed whenever we were able to visit. Even during the pandemic, they made every
effort to allow us to see Mum. All of the staff go over and above what is expected of them and we would have no hesitation in recommending Abbey Park, as a very suitable alternative to living at home, when this is no longer safe or possible.

Following her peaceful death I write this as I reflect on the care my Mother-in-Law received at Abbey Park over the years. The first thing to say is that overall the care she received was exceptional, truly exceptional! I have experienced a number of care facilities in relation to the care of my own
Mother and none of them came close to that delivered by Abbey Park. As I reflect this level of care so clearly comes from the top and permeates through the staff. The Home Manager and her staff cared for my Mother-in-Law with such wonderful compassion and skill it is hard to describe it adequately. We never had any doubts that she was being looked after as if she was their own loved one. This reassurance made us all as a family supremely confident that she was in the best place and living her life in the best way possible. Thank you Abbey Park, the Home Manager, and the staff. Absolutely brilliant!

My father-in-law stayed at Abbey Park for a few days for emergency respite. The staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for him, checking if he was comfortable or needed anything. Management were very friendly and answered any questions we had. Very clean and tidy and good options for food. Overall
the experience for my father-in-law was fantastic, couldn’t ask for a better place for respite!

My daughter and I visited my aunt on Saturday and were met by friendly staff. We were impressed by how clean and fresh the complex was. My aunt’s rooms were spacious and contained everything she needs. We had a tasty meal in the dining room. My aunt enjoys the activities on offer and seems very happy

We initially considered, following a glowing reference, Abbey Park as residential accommodation for Dad. However, unfortunately, his health deteriorated after two spells in hospital, and he required nursing care. The Arden Suite team were amazing; compassionate, loving and caring for both Dad and the
family. On arrival from hospital, Dad, ninety-seven, and the family were welcomed with a kindness that continued throughout his all too short stay. His end-of-life care was exemplary. This nursing team is supported by excellent administrative, welfare and kitchen staff. The complete Abbey Park Team create a peaceful, thoughtful, dignified, and Christian family atmosphere in which we had total confidence. Thank you.

We are more than happy with the care my mother receives at Abbey Park. She is well looked after and all the staff know her well and she is spotlessly clean. We have great admiration for all the staff. They work extremely hard and are always very pleasant.

I cannot fault the care my mum had at Abbey Park. Sadly she was very poorly when she was moved from hospital to the care home and she passed away after only 2 weeks. But the care she received was fantastic - nothing was too much for the staff. They treated her in such a dignified way, talking to her
so kindly and making sure she looked lovely. They were so kind to me too and took the time to support me after mum died. Huge thanks to all.

I could not speak more highly of Abbey Park and the staff there. Sadly my association with the home was short - but the staff - especially the care home manager and several others in particular - went above and beyond to ensure my Grandad was comfortable in his final days. The home itself is very safe,
clean, welcoming, and bright, with a peaceful atmosphere and beautiful rooms. The staff care and they treat each resident as an individual, not just numbers. The manager worked so hard to help facilitate my Grandad’s move - and we were just in time. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Abbey Park to anyone - and I will never forget their kindness.

From the moment my mum entered Abbey Park the staff, both carers and admin were so helpful and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff also made sure that my dad was okay even though they didn't have to. All my family would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for providing

From the moment dad moved to Abbey Park, I breathed a huge sigh of relief. For nearly 5 years, dad received fabulous care and was incredibly well looked after. I have found the manager to be so very kind and compassionate, always looking to do the right thing to enable my dad to have the best possible

I am extremely happy with the care provided - especially under the current covid visiting restrictions. The person who arranges the visits is extremely helpful and always goes the extra mile to ensure my contact visits are the best possible under the circumstances. All the care home staff I talk to
are extremely helpful and talk of mum with affection. I look forward to being able to pop in and just visit mum soon.

    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. She qualified as a nurse in 2000 and has worked with MHA for 22 years, progressing from a nurse to deputy manager, and now proudly leading the home as manager for the past 16 years.
