View Full Details of The Priory Care HomeThe whole experience of getting my husband in & settled was great. He seems happy & well cared for. Every need is anticipated & catered for.
It became apparent that care was needed in order to figure out the requirements as care needs were becoming demanding. The Manager and staff could not have been more understanding and responsive to this new and daunting situation. The Care home is exceptional and residents are treated to a very high standard of care.
I was generally happy with the care my father received at the Priory. The nurses and careers looked after him well, they were kind, caring and respectful to him and always greeted him with a smile. He enjoyed the activities at the home that he was able to participate in like a visit from the therapy dog, shetland ponies and bird of prey as well as the singers who wold come up to sing to him. The nurses and other staff made his stay comfortable for him and his bedroom feels a bit more like home. It was nice having the bird feeding tray outside the window too. Only issue was with the plugs/sockets in the room which needed fixing that took some time to resolve.
My husband was in The Priory Nursing Care Home from November 2023 until May 2025. He had Parkinsons and dementia, was bed ridden from the start and needed a lot of care. He also had a peg stomach tube, as swallowing was a problem. He was always looked after with great care and utmost respect. All the nursing staff and carers were amazing and were always there for the family too, when we were upset. I would recommend this home to all I know and meet.
My Mum has been at the Priory since the beginning of March 2025. She was discharged from hospital under an end of life care package and I cannot thank the staff enough at the Priory for all they have done for my Mum. Thankfully Mum's health has improved and I believe that is due to the expert nursing care and attention that she has received since arriving at the care home. Thank you so much to Cheryl the manager for her support and assistance. Her team are a credit to her and without them I don't think my Mum would have improved in the way she has under their care.
Mum was a resident for 5 1/2 years until her passing this month. The nursing/care staff looked after her well and she was happy to be a resident. However when I needed to deal with management (manager) it was extremely hard and disappointing. The bills were huge, so I feel the manager needs to be available and efficient when queries are raised.
My mother was admitted in December 2020 during Covid. It was quite difficult at first due to the restrictions, but the staff were very friendly and patient with her throughout. During her stay (nearly 5 years) every member of staff who very pleasant and kind, and she really enjoyed her trip there before dementia robbed her of her ability to fully participate in all the activities on offer. As she began to decline, both mentally and physically, she was always treated with dignity and kindness, and as a family we were all very happy with her care right up to the end.
The Priory has been my mother's home for nearly ten years now Over that time I have seen a turnover of staff and managers From my perspective I feel the home is running better than in any previous years Weekend activities is a big plus and the staff seem to have a better focus on their job.
Excellent introduction and tour of the care home, with a professional and friendly manager. All our questions were answered fully. Transition from hospital to The Priory was seamless. Her room was ready, although it hadn't been redecorated from the previous occupant. There were initial issues with the comfort of the bed, but these were addressed immediately. All staff are professional, courteous and friendly. Activities are available, but as yet my sister-in-law hasn't participated very much. She will take time to settle. I would recommend the care home.
I have been overwhelmed with the care and support offered to my mother, and to me, as we negotiated the move. It is a big step and it could have gone badly wrong but the friendly, caring and supportive atmosphere have made such a difference. I see other reviews complaining about the size of bathrooms and the food and whilst I acknowledge they may have a point I would like to add that given the number of people being catered for and the choice I think what is offered is amazing. The en-suite space isn't large but there is always help to go to the bathroom or to a larger bathroom, the staff work to overcome the restrictions placed on them by the layout and it is better there is more room in the room and, frankly, that the price isn't too large. Larger spaces will ask for larger amounts of money and, from my experience, The Priory offers truly excellent value for money. I have no hesitation in recommending The Priory.
On our introductory visit, we were impressed with the care home. We believed that my sister would settle down and thrive there. We had visited another care home to compare and contrast, but decided that The Priory Care Home would suit my sister's needs better. I am pleased to report that she has settled in well and is beginning to participate in the various activities that are on offer. She likes the staff, who are very professional in their approach. Also, the staff are very friendly and approachable.
The care home staff really work hard for the benefit of the residents. Theres always a varriaty of activities going on. The staff a very supportive to relatives / visitors of the residents, it's a really friendly atmosphere.
My dad is extremely well looked after by every member of the team. Staff have taken time to get to know my dad and therefore understand him and his needs. I honestly have only good things to say, I am so happy we chose here for dad.
We were greeted by an extremely professional worker who conducted a tour of the care home, before we decided it was the right place for my Auntie. On the day she moved in, a kind and friendly worker assisted with unloading the car and offered to bring a trolley to help with the move. All staff have been extremely warm and welcoming and have answered all questions. All staff have been quick to assist - nothing is too much of an ask e.g. my Auntie requested a different mattress and that was changed that day. We were particularly impressed with the activities officer, who was extremely friendly and understanding. The room is brilliant, it has a lovely view of trees from the window. Overall, a really great first impression. The only thing I have found is that there can be limited parking.
Staff are very approachable and friendly, and caring. My father has only been here for a few months, but so far it's been good. He has settled in now - If you need help with TVs, radios, etc, or any advice, there's always someone to ask.
The best thing about this home is the staff who remain polite and cheerful despite having to work with minimum numbers on duty, caring for patients requiring 2. I have seen the Manager only 4 times and then only because I have asked for a meeting to express concerns The food on offer is appalling, Bland , unappetising and poorly presented . The en-suite is too small to allow use of standing frame. Nurse call often not answered in a timely manner because staff are too busy or on their break
My sister moved into her new care home after her previous one closed with minimal notice. The manager and staff were very helpful, considerate and professional. We had lots of help moving in her belongings and helping her to settle in. There are lots of well organised activities which my sister joins in with. She hardly engaged at all in her previous home. Well done team!
My mother was in this care home for over a year. She was very happy and comfortable there and the staff were really lovely to her. I would like to thank everyone for looking after her so well.
I spent 11 years at my last care home. Now I am at The Priory Care Home. I am impressed by the good care I get here. All the staff are friendly and give good care to us all. I love the many activities we take part in. I am looking forward to the arts and crafts. I love doing drawing and painting. I look forward to making new friends.
Personal attentive service & care which bought my mother back to life! Despite the shock of having to require respite care, I saw my mother blossom & flourish during her time at the home. The nursing & care staff were excellent and went out of their way to meet her personal needs. Yet it was the social activities ladies that achieved more than I ever thought would be possible with my mother. Whilst becoming a social recluse in her own home, at Priory Court my mother thoroughly enjoyed the various social activities, put on for her & the other residents [& I have photos to prove it!]. My mum was safe, cared for & happy & I can't thank the staff enough for such personal attentive care. Bless you all!
