View Full Details of Highwell House Nursing & Residential CareYou're reading this review because you're thinking of Highwell House for your loved one. My advice is DONT THINK about it, go ahead, book a visit, you wont regret it. Life at Highwell is exceptional, my husband sadly passed away recently but the kindness shown to both my husband and myself throughout his time there was remarkable. I will be forever grateful for the memories I have of us enjoying tea outside on the patio one last time. The consideration shown to us by the staff, enabling us to have our time together, was so thoughtful. My husbands complex care needs required visits from additional healthcare professions, Highwells team worked skilfully together with them and always kept me informed. In the latter stages of my husbands life he experienced challenges linked to his illness, but the team at Highwell managed these with kindness, professionalism, and always dignity. I cant praise everyone enough, Thankyou for your compassionate care with kindness. So book your visit today
Highwell House provided a calm and relaxing environment for my late uncle during his stay and I cannot praise the team highly enough. The facilities are outstanding, but it's the staff members who truly make this place special. In particular, 4 members of staff went above and beyond their duties. Their care, empathy and genuine authenticity were second to none. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Kindness and professionalism were constant and consistent. The open-door policy at Highwell House reflects the home's honest and transparent approach to care.....what you see is truly what you get. It was a kind and amazing experience for my uncle and one for which my family and I will always be deeply grateful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
My father has been a resident at Highwell House for nearly 3 years. This week, 14 members of our family visited to celebrate his 90th birthday. We had arranged to meet him in their magnificent new entertaining suite and when we arrived we found it decorated with fresh flowers and lots of balloons. The very well equipped kitchen area was available for us to use and iced water, coffee, tea and milk and fizz glasses were set out ready for us. This was an example of how the management and staff go over and above to enhance the lives of their residents and we feel so grateful to them that we were able to have such a happy, memorable afternoon and for their continuing high quality care.
Highwell House is a very special place. All staff are friendly, caring and go above and beyond to make sure the residents and visitors are looked after in a friendly and professional way. The accommodation is to a very high standard very homely bright and very relaxed the bedrooms are also to a high standard clean and airy . The food is excellent great choices and freshly cooked. Activities for the residents are enjoyable with all encouraged to join in. Highwell is a very good run place from the managers to cleaners and laundry which is always clean and fresh. Thank you Highwell for looking after my wife so well.
Visited to attend a special birthday of a dear friend, so impressed with the welcome, the attentiveness of the staff, the food, the celebration, special details, but most of all the view. What an overall beautiful place.
Excellent in every way from the moment we arrived until when we left. The atmosphere was very good, the staff were exemplary, it was a joy to watch them all working as a team. When working I had experience of care homes in 4 counties, Highwell House in my Top 2.
All the staff and management are outstanding, they all take the utmost care of every need catered for, are very courteous to visitors, and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The nursing staff treat you like family. Sadly my best friend has spent her final days there and was treated amazingly well. Lovely and clean all the time, with people popping in and out. Never left alone for long. If I ever need this kind of care, this is where I would choose to end my days. Thank you so much for your care and service.
Overall a caring nursing home, with good views of the windows most staff are helpful and friendly, could do with more staff to enable more time to sit and interact with clients, visitors welcomed with open arms and access to food and drinks.
My mother was resident at Highwell House Nursing & Residential Care for some time and the team cared for her ever need. The level of care at Highwell House is exceptional and I would recommend the care home to anyone. I found the staff to be friendly and very professional towards my mother.

I have found Highwell House Nursing & Residential Care to be a very friendly establishment. There is a good atmosphere at Highwell and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and are on the ball at all times. The food is locally sourced and cooked and served to a high standard. I would certainly recommend it.
Dad's been a resident at Highwell House Nursing & Residential Care since November 2024. Everyone has made the transition easy and straightforward for both him and me. He's been made to feel very welcome and it's wonderful to be able to drop in and see him whenever and be a part of the festivities there too. He's enjoying the activities on offer and definitely the food! I know he's safe and well looked after, with caring staff who can cope with his night-time wanderings.
Highwell House is providing a very high standard of care for our mother. All the staff are friendly, caring and professional, taking pride in their work and relationships, with a clear sense of working as a team with the aim of providing exceptional care for the residents. The practical aspects of caring for the needs of those growing older with varying needs are carried out quietly and efficiently. With respect, dignity as well as safety being important factors of the care. A wide range of day to day activities on offer and the feeling of community created by the manager and her team is notable and impressive.
My neighbour has been in the home since February 2024 and is very well looked after. The staff are pleasant and the residence is well managed. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and homely. My neighbour has nursing needs and this is very well managed and, although she has deteriorated mentally, she seems very happy with her surroundings.
Another big birthday and what an amazing celebration my dad had at Highwell! A great deal of thought and care went into making it a very special occasion. He's been a resident for two years and is really a very happy one. He so appreciates the friendly banter with the wonderful caring staff and the homely atmosphere. Visiting family and friends are always welcomed and invited to enjoy the many and varied social events. Highwell ticks all our boxes for an outstanding nursing home.
The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. The home is cosy and homely. People are always willing to help. There always seem to be lots of staff around. Lovely views from rooms and sitting room.
My grandfather joined Highwell House on 14.12.2023. He was warmly welcomed and has settled in incredibly well. My family live locally so can easily visit the home. The staff are incredibly kind, helpful and supportive. A lovely bedroom which he was allowed to personalise. The food is very tasty and freshly made daily. Grandad loves the country views and fresh flowers that are always in abundance. A huge selection of breakfast items followed by a complimentary newspaper that he spends hours reading and completing the crossword. The new outside seating area has been created as a beautiful space to get fresh air and relaxation time warmly surrounded by beautifully freshly planted flowers to look at. Activities are created every day for fun and interaction and he even enjoyed a theatrical event two nights ago that he thoroughly enjoyed. The care team are very easy to communicate with and his health needs are met. Huge thanks to the entire team for a very kind and caring experience.
My dad has been in Highwell for just over two years following a major stroke. We managed to get him transferred there following a very stressful few weeks when he was discharged into a poor-quality care home from the hospital. The difference was huge. The care home manager sent us a photo of him on the terrace the day of his arrival; this was the first time in months had been dressed and in the fresh air. The location and building are great with beautiful views, there are regular activities but the main positive is the staff and their care, professionalism and warmth. My dad has struggled with adjusting to his stroke and a new way of life; the friendliness and the humour of the care staff have been a lifeline for both him and our family.
Our uncle was only at the home for a few days receiving palliative care. We cannot express our gratitude or put into words how fantastic the staff were with our uncle. The care and personal support he and we as a family received during this difficult time was exceptional. All I can say is thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
I cannot speak more highly of the home and the staff. My mother's room was bright and airy with lovely big windows, it was warm and homely and kept spotlessly clean. The communal facilities were excellent, with lovely furnishings, fresh flowers, and beautiful views across the open countryside. What really sets Highwell apart however is the amazing staff, nothing was too much trouble, the care they gave to my mother was exemplary and we (the family) were always warmly welcomed and looked after when visiting. There is clearly a culture of genuine care and compassion for the residents. Thank you Highwell House.
