Highwell House Nursing & Residential Care

My Dad went to Highwell House in Feb '26. The decision was not easy. My mum and I made an appointment and met with the Manager; she was passionate and enthusiastic about her work and answered all our questions openly and honestly. It was clear that Highwell had excellent standards of nursing care, the home itself is lovely. We were shown around and commented on the 'feel' of the place. My Dad has settled well, the staff have got to know him, the care he is receiving is compassionate, caring and responsive. I know Dad is in safe hands.

One of the things that I like is that there is not high turnover of staff and some of the staff are still there that looked after my father in law.

My first experience was with the manager who assessed my husband in hospital. She was enthusiastic, efficient and knowledgeable with a friendly personality. I visited the home to check out the rooms available and the living areas for the residents. Very homely lounges with TV. A dining area with kitchen facilities which I could use to make a drink, biscuits available as well. Care staff on hand to see to the needs of my husband. Also looking after me if I needed a drink or wanted to stay for lunch. A conservatory available to book for Sunday lunch when relatives could join privately. Nurses on hand to monitor residents when needed. Very clean. No smells. Clothes cleaned/washed regularly. Personal care Inc hair, nails,feet provided. A programme of activities planned weekly to stimulate and entertain. A glass of something at lunch provided. Wine,sherry baileys if wanted. Caring and friendly staff which is a great comfort to me to know my husband is being well cared for.

The staff are all caring and considerate making the residents feel safe and the relatives reassured they are in the best place possible.

I have been so impressed by the care shown to my husband, and they are very caring towards me too. Nothing is too much trouble. When I can't be there to feed him, they do it instead and make sure he gets what he likes to eat

Needn't have worried, the staff are amazing and it was like being in a Five star hotel

My mother loves living at Highwell House. All of her needs are anticipated and met. The care is proactive and competent. The nurses, carers and all staff members are friendly and compassionate. The atmosphere is homely and friendly. Family are always welcome. There are lots of fun events arranged for residents and their families. Trudi, Sarah and all of the team are excellent.

The exceptional team at Highwell House provided superb care for my Dad during his last few weeks. They made him welcome, were proactive in suggesting the best care and medical approach, and ensured his final days were comfortable and dignified. They took equally good care of us, his family, guiding us with compassion through a difficult time. I would strongly recommend Highwell House to anyone looking for dementia / palliative care.

My father has been a resident at Highwell House for nearly 3 years. This week, 14 members of our family visited to celebrate his 90th birthday. We had arranged to meet him in their magnificent new entertaining suite and when we arrived we found it decorated with fresh flowers and lots of balloons. The very well equipped kitchen area was available for us to use and iced water, coffee, tea and milk and fizz glasses were set out ready for us. This was an example of how the management and staff go over and above to enhance the lives of their residents and we feel so grateful to them that we were able to have such a happy, memorable afternoon and for their continuing high quality care.

Highwell House is a very special place. All staff are friendly, caring and go above and beyond to make sure the residents and visitors are looked after in a friendly and professional way. The accommodation is to a very high standard very homely bright and very relaxed the bedrooms are also to a high standard clean and airy . The food is excellent great choices and freshly cooked. Activities for the residents are enjoyable with all encouraged to join in. Highwell is a very good run place from the managers to cleaners and laundry which is always clean and fresh. Thank you Highwell for looking after my wife so well.

Visited to attend a special birthday of a dear friend, so impressed with the welcome, the attentiveness of the staff, the food, the celebration, special details, but most of all the view. What an overall beautiful place.

Excellent in every way from the moment we arrived until when we left. The atmosphere was very good, the staff were exemplary, it was a joy to watch them all working as a team. When working I had experience of care homes in 4 counties, Highwell House in my Top 2.

All the staff and management are outstanding, they all take the utmost care of every need catered for, are very courteous to visitors, and nothing seems to be too much trouble. The nursing staff treat you like family. Sadly my best friend has spent her final days there and was treated amazingly well. Lovely and clean all the time, with people popping in and out. Never left alone for long. If I ever need this kind of care, this is where I would choose to end my days. Thank you so much for your care and service.

Overall a caring nursing home, with good views of the windows most staff are helpful and friendly, could do with more staff to enable more time to sit and interact with clients, visitors welcomed with open arms and access to food and drinks.

I have found Highwell House Nursing & Residential Care to be a very friendly establishment. There is a good atmosphere at Highwell and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable and are on the ball at all times. The food is locally sourced and cooked and served to a high standard. I would certainly recommend it.
