My mother was a resident for about 6 weeks receiving palliative care. The staff all treated her kindly and with dignity. Their care was second none. She had a lovely en-suite room with a superb view over the fields and hills. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Highwell House.

I was very impressed with the caring staff. They made my husband very welcome and looked after his needs with kindness and respect. The food was good and tables were laid to look nice. The entertainment could have been made clearer by word of mouth, as he wasn't aware of might be available each day.

Dad was in very poor health and very frail when he arrived at Highwell. Within 3 days he had made remarkable progress. It was evident that all the staff were contributing to my father's care and support. It is clearly obvious that staff are well trained, highly motivated and deliver exceptional care. You could see that staff love their jobs, are well supported by management and put their hearts into their work. Huge thanks from the whole family.

I feel that I'm in the wrong place at times as I'm here with lots of older people. I enjoy getting out such as trips out and to the theatre and shopping and would like to do this more often.

I think the carers are very nice.

The home has a welcoming environment. The staff are pleasant and show great tolerance with all residents. Visits at any time are allowed, residents always clean, tidy and dressed for the time of day. Regular showers (or bath if preferable) are given, hairdressing and chiropody if requested. Senior staff are available to give advice and answer visitors questions. Their well balanced and nutritional meals are prepared each day. Entertainment is provided by various artists and armchair exercises regularly feature, some outside visits arranged (weather permitting). Hydration and balance are encouraged at all times.

Highwell House care home is perfect for my mum as she has physical difficulties but is cognitively very switched on and thoroughly enjoys the many activities and entertainment provided here. She is always in the day room and very involved and stimulated. The staff are friendly and very caring.

Thanks to the manager and the staff at Highwell House for the exceptional care given to my father during his sadly short stay with you. From the moment he arrived he was treated with a dignity and respect. Whilst he was a very poorly man when he arrived, every effort was made to encourage him towards a degree of recovery and helped to make his final days as comfortable as possible. We, the family, did everything we could to enable him to be cared for at home during his latter months but, in hindsight, he would almost certainly have benefited from coming to you sooner so that your professional skills could have taken much of the strain we experienced whilst not at all being detrimental to his well being. On a practical level - his room was very comfortable; the menus were excellent; his personal needs in terms of clothing, hygiene and medications were ably looked after; and the cheery, helpful attitude of the staff towards visitors did you credit. Thanks again from the whole family.

My wife and I are regular visitors to Highwell House to see an elderly resident.
We are impressed with the staff and management who clearly have the residents' best interests at heart and go out of their way to be helpful, considerate and caring.
They also make visitors most welcome offering food and refreshments - and the 'help yourself' tea and coffee facility is a great idea.
Residents benefit from a range of activities organised for them.

Most importantly, the residents' varying needs are flexibly met with a high standard of care and support in a compassionate environment.

My aunty's room is very nice. It's warm and spacious. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The food looks very nice. My aunty would prefer to live at home but cannot look after herself and need all the support she received in the home.

I don't think she could be looked after any better anywhere else.

After 55 years in the same house, the sudden need to move into residential care must have been very disturbing to my father especially having lived alone for the last 30 years and the change was occurring at a time of great confusion for him. I was very impressed with the kindness of the staff at Highwell House and their caring, supportive approach as they treated my father with the utmost dignity from the outset. Dad has very quickly settled in, with already a noticeable improvement in his well-being with people who really care.
