Mum was discharged from the hospital into Highwell House Nursing & Residential Care for her final days of care. She was well looked after and cared for by all the nursing staff. She was treated with respect and in a dignified way - until she succumbed to her illness and passed away.

We chose Highwell House Nursing & Residential Care for my husband who is now a resident purely for the professionalism and quality of the care staff and we have not been disappointed. All care staff have excellent nursing skills but also show great kindness understanding care and support not just for residents but for their families.. much needed, helping everyone come to terms with this great change in all their lives. I have no hesitation in recommending Highwell House Care Home to anyone who has come to the time in their lives when professional help and care is needed.

In the 9 months that my mum has been living at Highwell House Nursing & Residential Care, she has received the highest quality of care, adjusted to meet her individual needs as her dementia has progressed. Staff have had to manage a quite significant deterioration in her physical and mental capacity, but have risen to each challenge and made the necessary adaptations to support mum in the best way possible. Led by a highly-skilled, experienced and dedicated manager, the staff team exude positivity, warmth, generosity of spirit and patience towards their residents. My family and I are very glad we placed mum at Highwell House.

Our mother reluctantly went to Highwell House Nursing & Residential Care for nursing care in the remaining weeks of her life. Despite the shortness of her time there, the staff's cheerful manner and gentle persuasion resulted in her forming close relationships which helped ease her final days. As a family, we all felt that they had got to know her, met her health, emotional and spiritual needs, and supported us all through what was an immensely difficult time. All the staff are consummate professionals and Highwell sets the standards others should strive to achieve.

Thank you so much for this lovely review, it really does mean a lot to the whole team. Although we only got to know Mum at the end stage of her life, her strength of character and desire to remain as independent as possible really did shine through, a truly remarkable lady. Thank you for entrusting us with Mum's care.

Dad went to Highwell House Nursing & Residential Care in December, initially for one week's Respite Care. This had been a very difficult decision for Mum who has been his full-time carer for the last several years. Unfortunately, during that week, Mum had an accident. The manager could not have been more supportive in allowing Dad to remain at Highwell House and she and 'Team Highwell' have been incredible. It has also become evident that Dad now needs 24-hour nursing care.
Highwell is outstanding and it is very evident why this is so with the manager, clearly both ‘holding’ and ‘passing' the baton of her leadership to the rest of her team at all times. This is difficult to do well and doing so in the most challenging of times is even more of an achievement.
I have never seen the 6 Cs, values essential to compassionate care, demonstrated in such abundance - Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Courage and Commitment.

Thank you so much for looking after Dad as well as Mum and us.

My mom was treated with the utmost care, patience, dignity and compassion throughout her time at Highwell House, despite her worsening dementia and sometimes challenging behaviours. Every member of the wonderful team, from domestic staff, activity coordinators, care assistants, nurses, and Care Manager made Mom feel part of their family and couldn't do enough for her. They soon got to know Mom's character and took the time to engage in activities that she could take part in, particularly singing and chatting/laughing, even scoring a goal prior to the Euro final as part of the resident penalty shootouts. The outstanding care I evidenced for my mom was also extended to me and my family. I was in constant communication with the care manager who replied to my calls and emails at very unsociable hours to put my mind at rest and always facilitated visits and FaceTime calls. If you are looking for a nursing home, do not look anywhere else. This is the best there is!

I don't get a chance to see Grandma as often as I'd like to and it's been especially difficult during the last year with the Covid pandemic. However any fears I may have had regarding her wellbeing or any loneliness at not seeing family were truly dispelled when I visited her. You really could tell how well she'd been looked after both physically and mentally! Top marks to all the staff, Highwell House is a truly wonderful place to call home.

My Aunt of 96 is still enjoying herself at Highwell House, especially her room with a view over the hills. We live in Surrey and have not been able to visit in person since January 2020 but remain in contact via the phone and she always says how grateful she is to be looked after so well now that she can no longer manage at home.
I can't comment personally on all the services provided as I haven't been able to judge for myself but, based on Aunty's feedback, I'm happy to give this review.
All the team have always been very friendly and helpful whenever I've had to contact them about general issues like providing more clothes or buying my Aunt her newspaper. We were all delighted that (prior to Covid), my Aunt achieved a lifelong ambition of going horse riding!

What more could you want in old age?!

Mum is so well looked after by all the team - cannot praise the staff highly enough.
With the pandemic restrictions, we have always been well informed of all the measures being taken to make sure our loved ones are safe and it is wonderful that we are able to use WhatsApp to see and speak to Mum.

I cannot praise Highwell House enough. Mum has been cared for with such kindness and dignity since moving in just over a year ago, ensuring her every need is catered for. I applaud management and staff for their dedication in keeping Highwell House safe over the last few months and keeping us informed of events and measures being taken. We have been able to keep in touch with Mum by phone, WhatsApp and, under current restrictions, visits, which has been a great comfort. We have been shown such compassion by management and staff and know they will always go above and beyond to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone at Highwell House.

My experience has always been that this is an excellent home and the staff extremely kind, courteous and always willing to help. This year we lost our dear mother and even in such difficult circumstances, we were able to see her to say goodbye. We were very grateful that the manager contacted the priest to give mum the last rights which she would have dearly wanted. My father is still in the home we are so grateful that the staff are doing all in their power to keep them safe.

With a makeshift marquee, we have been able to see dad even though not as often as we would. However, we understand the need to keep him safe. My only concern is that now it is becoming cold this will no longer be feasible and he needs to continue to see us and for us to see him. I am sure that plans are being put into action as Highwell House fully understand our needs and the necessary safety issues. Every member if staff deserve a medal. Thank you.

I can’t say enough that can convey the hard work, commitment and love that I’ve witnessed at Highwell House. My dad has been looked after with care, dignity and unwavering good humour for the last two years. Covid has been hard for everyone, including families of the residents who miss the physical hugs and hand holding but the support we have been offered is a testament to the wonderful staff and leadership. Thankyou Highwell House.

Before the pandemic, I had great respect for all staff at Highwell House, but they have excelled themselves in the care the residents have received during this difficult time. Contact with residents' families and carers has been enabled to the best of the management and staff's ability, within the constraints of government guidelines. I have been able to pre-book visits outside, had phone calls and video calls. The care is second to none!
