Care Homes Owned by Herefordshire Care Homes
For the Herefordshire Care Homes' owner, exceptional care has always been about people, about ensuring that every person who lives in a care home is truly recognised, valued and respected for who they are, not defined by age, diagnosis or dependency.
Holding a Master’s Degree in the Management of Health and Social Care Services from the University of Birmingham, the owner's career has been shaped by a relentless drive to raise standards across the care sector. Before founding Herefordshire Care Homes, she spent several years inspecting care homes specialising in improving quality.
Herefordshire Care Homes represents the culmination of this lifelong commitment and the personal vision that grew from it. A care home must be a positive life experience: a place where older people can continue to live with dignity, purpose and joy, supported by teams who truly know them as individuals.
That vision has translated into extraordinary outcomes. Five of the homes are rated “Outstanding” by CQC (January 2026) - the highest possible rating giving Herefordshire Care Homes the highest proportion of Outstanding-rated homes in England, placing them in the top percentage and making them the only care homes in Herefordshire to achieve this standard.
These accolades are not the end goal, but the result of something deeper: a culture where compassion leads, standards never stand still, and every person is recognised, always, as a person first.

Facilities are excellent at Dulas Court. All staff and management are outstanding and all go way beyond what is expected. They all really care. The rooms and communal areas are always kept to a very high standard and attention to detail is exceptional. The food is out of this world, better than any
restaurant, we eat with our mum on a regular basis and it is 1st class. Thank you Dulas for everything that you do.
Reply from Becky Williams, Manager at Dulas CourtThank you for this wonderful review. There is nothing more homely than having a quite meal together, keeping the family tradition alive.

Dulas is a wonderful place. Always a warm welcome and my mother-in-law is very happy here. She always looks well and content when I visit and it is clear she is looked after with best attention and care. The staff are so lovely and the place has such a lovely atmosphere. Plenty of activities and the
most beautiful gardens, all 14 acres, which we enjoy walking around with my mother-in-law.

Dulas Court continue to excel in everything they do. My mother has lived here for almost two years and I couldn't ask for more kindness and care. The staff make her feel loved and special. Any requests or suggestions put to them about my mum are listened to and acted on. I couldn't be more delighted
with the care my mum has received. Highly recommend Dulas to anyone looking for the perfect place for thier loved one.

My sister has been resident at Dulas Court for 4 years and she enjoys everything about her life there. She is safe, supported, well cared for and very well entertained with lots of fun and meaningful activities. Staff fully support my sister to engage in her many hobbies and they are very understanding
of her needs. The team is well led and all of the staff are kind, caring and respectful. The house is homely and comfortable with wonderful gardens for residents to enjoy. My sister's needs are met perfectly at Dulas Court and both my sister and I could not be happier. Thank you to everyone at Dulas Court.

My parents became residents in February 2026 after moving from another care home in Hereford.
Both their care & support has been absolutely fantastic since day one, we couldn't have asked for a better care of them both.
All of the staff are extremely supportive & friendly from the moment you step
through the front door- couldn't ask for a better team than Charnwood.
Unfortunately we lost my father a few weeks ago, I can not praise Lindsay, Bev & all the staff enough as they went above and beyond, showing full dignity & respect for my father in his final moments. They have given full care, respect & support for my mother in the last few tough weeks.
Bev, the activity co-ordinator is fantastic with all the residents, whether it's minibus trips out, weekly bingo or arranging daily activities, there is always something going on for the residents which shows on social media posts & communication with family members.
All the residents are treated like one big family, always happy & smiling.
Reply from Lindsay Hagley, Manager at Charnwood Country ResidenceThank you for your kind words, its lovely to read that our values of belonging, kindness, understanding, trust and joy are embedding into everything we do every day. It was a pleasure getting to know your father for the time he was with us. We will continue to support your Mother and you all through this difficult time.

Friendly & efficiently run care home. A great family feel to the house from the moment you walk through the door. The staff are always going the extra yard to ensure my mum, who suffers from Dementia, is safe and feels wanted. The daily entertainment is varied and excellent. It is clear a great deal
of thought goes into entertaining the residents. A beautiful secure garden is a real bonus. A choice of many areas for residents to explore offering variations of interactions and peace and quiet. From a visitors perspective, the staff go out of their way to ensure myself and my four legged companions are felt extremely welcome.
Reply from Sharon Childs, Reg Manager at Coldwells HouseThank you so much for the lovely review which I will share with the team. Your mum has really settled well and we love your visits with your four legged companions.

Staff at Coldwells looked after my mum for end of life care in February 2026. Their care and kindness was exemplary for both my mum and her family at such a difficult time. There was regular liaison with hospice and GP teams. This reflected the compassionate care throughout my mum's stay at Coldwells
House since 2018.
Reply from Sharon Childs, Reg Manager at Coldwells HouseThank you so much for this wonderful review which we will share with staff. We were honoured to be able to spend the time caring for your mum and supporting the family during her time at Coldwells House.

I chose this home for my elderly friend for a two-week respite stay after he came out of the hospital. I looked around the home first and was very impressed by the kindness of the staff. All the patients look well cared for and happy. My neighbour stayed here for a couple of weeks just before Christmas
and was really well looked after. The staff were so kind.
Reply from Rebecca Gwinnett, Deputy Manager at WhitegatesThank you for your kind feedback. We're so pleased you felt confident choosing our home and your friend was well cared for. Your comments mean a lot and will be shared with the team.

We moved my mother and father into Charwood from a completely different care home provider three weeks ago. The individual care and attention given to them since their arrival has been superb. They have differing needs but the attention to detail and genuine warmness from all the staff means that I
really feel Mum and Dad are "cared for" as opposed to being just "looked after". I feel very confident that we have made the right decision.
It's evident that the manager, Lindsay, sets the example that is followed by all the staff. Her communication to us as a family is excellent and her dedication to the residents in her care demonstrable.
Reply from Lindsay Hagley, Manager at Charnwood Country ResidenceThank you for your kind words. We are so pleased to welcome them both to Charnwood. Our vison is to be more than a care home, to be a family and a community where everyone belongs, is heard and is supported to live with purpose and joy. I will ensure your review is shared with the team.

My mum was very well cared for and shown so much respect and love while she lived in Coldwells House. Everyone was friendly toward her and made sure they spoke loudly so she could hear them, especially important as mum had limited sight. Sadly Mum passed away on 2nd January but she was looked after
before, during and after her death. Lovely people were with her all the time.
Reply from Sharon Childs, Reg Manager at Coldwells HouseIt was our absolute pleasure to have been given the honour to love and care for your mum. She will be sadly missed.

My mum has (since becoming a resident approx 4 years ago)and does receive excellent care from all the staff at Hazelhurst.
She is happy and content at the home and describes everyone who work there as very good and that they take care of her extremely well.
She has high praise for the excellent meals
they provide and if she isn't feeling particularly hungry on a certain day they will make her an omelette or jacket potatoe with cheese which she will sometimes ask for instead. This shows me as a family member that they will go out of their way to ensure she is catered for and provided with an appropriate meal to suit her needs at particular times.
The cleaners do an excellent job in keeping mum's room clean and the entire home is kept clean and well maintained - I particularly like the way they set out the tables for meal times, they are laid out beautifully.
As her daughter I am happy with all the care and support mum receives from the home and would not hesitate in recommending it
Reply from Charlotte Whittington, Home Manager at Hazelhurst Nursing HomeThank you so much for your review. It is such a privilege to care for your Mum and we are fortunate to have families like yours who support us as a Home. Thank you for your lovely feedback.

My mother loves living at Highwell House. All of her needs are anticipated and met. The care is proactive and competent. The nurses, carers and all staff members are friendly and compassionate. The atmosphere is homely and friendly. Family are always welcome. There are lots of fun events arranged for
residents and their families. Trudi, Sarah and all of the team are excellent.
Reply from Trudi Barnett, Reg Manager at Highwell House Nursing & Residential CareWhat a lovely review! Thank you so much for taking the time to write this for us. Your Mum is living a wonderful life at Highwell House, I'm so glad she is loving living here with us. You, as her daughter are a wonderful support, not only to your Mum but to us as well. Thank you.

The staff are very patient and caring and remain calm if there is a problem. There are paved areas so that residents can walk outside in winter if the weather is suitable and beautiful grounds for warmer dryer weather.
There are lots of activities planned throughout the day for the residents and
they are actively encouraged to join in. The residents look out for each other and regard it as their home and all of this creates a lovely atmosphere enhanced by a beautiful building with plenty of space.
Nothing is too much trouble and the staff always try and deal with any request including purchasing items.

My sister moved into Coldwells House in June 2025. She was living alone before and has a number of health issues. She has benefited greatly from the extra daily support, regular nutritious meals, monitoring of her medication and fluid intake. She is able to partake in a variety of activities if she
chooses. We are able to visit whenever we wish and feel very welcome as there is such a friendly atmosphere.

Four years ago I moved to Dulas Court with my late wife. The love and respect we received and I still receive ensures I feel surrounded by the care of professionals who cater for my every need. Trips to the theatre and a glass of wine with lunch give my life meaning and joy. Her loss was dignified and
my fellow residents (now friends) showed great sympathy helping me grieve and find joy once more. Thank you Dulas Court.

My experience of this care provider has exceeded my expectations. I have therefore no hesitation in recommending this home to those who are searching for a suitable home. The one aspect which reassures me in particular is the personal touch that underlines the day to day experience, and gives peace
of mind to relatives and residents alike. This comes after I have experience of other homes in the past year, all of which came rather short of the required standard. I can now look forward to the future with confidence that my needs will be met, and dealt with in a sensitive way.
