I chose this home for my elderly friend for a two-week respite stay after he came out of the hospital. I looked around the home first and was very impressed by the kindness of the staff. All the patients look well cared for and happy. My neighbour stayed here for a couple of weeks just before Christmas and was really well looked after. The staff were so kind.

My dear friend lived at Whitegates for a few years following a long stay at hospital. The care he had was nothing short of miraculous. We didn't expect him to be with us for long, but with the love and care he received, he learnt to walk again and regain control over his life. Thank you to the incredible staff for everything you do.

My mom is treated with dignity and care. Everyone that has anything to do with Whitegates puts 100% into there jobs. I mean everyone.
She gets hugs when needed and reassurance when she is struggling. That goes out to the family as well. Having Dementia could mean that person is lonely, angry, frustrated, sad ,lost and with the care of these people who are very special to us as a little family we get through it as well as the person with Dementia. To me all the staff are worth there weigh in gold .
She also has a social life and days out. This is organised by a wonderful lady who understands everyone's needs. To most residence music is there soul enjoyment.

Thank you everyone .

Excellent care home where residents are looked after with care and empathy in beautiful surroundings and where their family and friends can visit them with ease.

They have a lovely dining room where they have a choice of food from a menu at each mealtime and a comfortable lounge where entertainment is laid on for residents.

I went to visit an old friend Alan, and was truly impressed with the facilities and staff. From the front door all the way through the building, it was light, bright and smelled lovely. The staff were friendly and knew the residents all by name which was great to see. I was offered a coffee and was made to feel very welcome. What a joy to behold a "care home" which actually felt like it was the clients homes and not an institution. I was lucky to see a new bedroom" wow it's nicer than my bedroom at home. Alan was relaxed and happy and must have chatted too much as, when i left he was dozing in the lounge. Anyone considering a place of safety for a loved one, which is a home from home please visit here !!

My dad has been at Whitegates for a few years, he is very well cared for by super staff who attend to his every need. The staff feed, wash and dress him, he is always very calm and happy. Staff take him out on trips to local cafes we go and meet him there. There are weekly activities emailed to us which we are welcome to go to. I cannot recommend this place highly. We are very lucky he is so well cared for.

Whitegates has been an absolute blessing for our family. My stepdad, who is living with dementia, receives truly outstanding care here. The staff are not only professional and knowledgeable, but also genuinely kind, patient, and compassionate. It's clear they truly care about the residents as individuals.
What has meant just as much to us is the support they've shown our mom. She's always kept informed, listened to, and made to feel part of the care process. The peace of mind this gives us is invaluable.

The musical activities in particular have been incredibly special. Watching my dad completely immersed in the music, often sitting and conducting with such joy and focus, is deeply moving. It's like he enters a whole new world - one where he's fully engaged and alive in the moment. These moments are priceless for all of us. Thank you, Whitegates, for everything you do. You've made a difficult journey so much easier, and we're incredibly grateful.

My husband has been living well with dementia at Whitegates Care Home since February 2025.Care staff are caring, kind and well aware of Alan's wants and all his needs are met with empathy and respect. Management have ensured that a person centred plan of care is in place and I am involved in all the decision making as Alan's dementia progresses. My sincere thanks go to all the staff at Whitegates, care staff for meeting his needs on a daily basis, chefs and kitchen staff for ensuring that dietry likes and dislikes are considered, Management for ensuring his physical and emotional health is managed and admin and occupational staff for keeping me informed in how my Alan spends his day.

Thank you

We moved a friend who was 80 years old, was incapable of being alone and had early signs of dementia from a home in Lincolnshire to Whitegates due to location. The friend's wife died and we had POA as they had no family. Being 8 miles away makes it easy for us to visit 3 times a week on average.
Whitegates couldn't be a better home for him. If we had to go into a home we would very happily live at Whitegates. (I think my wife is trying to get me a booking for me behind my back.)

I have been to several care homes visiting relatives over the past 10 years and Whitegates is by far the best I have ever experienced. The staff are caring and empathetic and they have enough of them (most homes seem to be understaffed), many with a lot of service years - so much experience. Excellent facilities, lovely rooms, great food - it really is like a 5-star hotel. Exceptionally well managed by a great team.

Whitegates is well maintained and regularly upgraded, which keeps it looking very pleasant and clean. My father is extremely well cared for and the staff are kind, friendly and treat him like family. The entertainment on offer is very interactive with great trips out and wonderful performers. Families are always invited to take part if they would like to, and I couldn't wish for a better care home to look after my dad.

I have always found the staff and management very helpful and knowledgeable. They are always cheerful and willing to listen if the time is available.
There is always a cup of tea available should we want one and a piece of cake.
The entertainment ladies are always engaging and involve my wife and I, in almost everything they do.

Love the fact that the building is being updated and brighter.

My mother-in-law stayed here at Whitegates Bromyard recently, initially for a two-week stay to see how she liked it. Unfortunately, her second week was cut short due to a nasty fall which needed an emergency visit to Hereford hospital where they identified a bleed on the brain. During her limited time at Whitegates family members visited most days to see that she was okay and whilst we acknowledge that Whitegates had a "Outstanding" assessment by Care Quality Commission back in 2018, the family were disappointed in some aspects of the care provided. One specific area of concern was how frequently we observed staff members using their mobile phones and watching TV when they should have used this time to interact with their residents. This unfortunately was witnessed all too often by family visitors. Not the best experience but sadly probably a very common experience for many living in a care home these days. I'm glad to report that my mother-in-law has now recovered from her injury.

I hope you found our meeting helpful. I was pleased to show you that the mobile phones you refer to were in fact the devices used by staff as part of the digital care planning system and not mobile phones. My husband spent three months in this wonderful home. He suffered from dementia but was able to join in the activities provided - a ride in a canal boat, tea dance, music, etc. He enjoyed living there and was so happy. The food was excellent, the staff caring, and the residents always looked cared for! He was always treated with dignity and respect.

He, unfortunately, died after suffering from a stroke. The end-of-life care, kindness and sympathetic treatment of relatives will never be forgotten.
