Dulas Court

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Dad moved to Dulas court 2022 and passed away there recently. The staff are amazing, from my first visit I knew that we had found a truly special place for him to call home with people that have chosen this line of work as a vocation, the love, care compassion and dignity with which all residents are
cared for is unparalleled in my opinion. Most of my visits were unannounced and dad was always being beautifully cared for whether with company, his appearance or his meals and endless requests for a cuppa. The piece of mind this allowed me was priceless. When dad started to decline there was a very open line of communication to me they would update immediately and honestly, but always with compassion. Dad was cherished right up until the end and I take great comfort in the fact that his Dulas family were with him. As a family we feel beyond grateful that Dad spent his remaining time with them. A truly special place filled with truly special people.

My father has just passed away after 3 years at Dulas Court he had mixed dementia and could be a little awkward at times. He had previously been in two care homes.
I have copied below the message I wrote in a thank-you card to all the staff as it speaks volumes

"Dear Becky and all the staff,
On

behalf of my all my family, I want to express our heartfelt thanks for the compassion, dignity and kindness you have all shown over the last three years of Johns life.
I understand my father was quite a character and could at times be quite a challenge, the way you treated him is a credit to your profession. I especially liked the way you humoured him when he was contrary. Your care went beyond meeting his needs and it gave us great comfort knowing he was surrounded by people who truly cared, especially in his final days.
Dulas Court and its staff will always hold a special place in our hearts for the genuine care you extended to my father"

A truly marvellous place with lovely people

Reply from Becky Williams, Manager at Dulas CourtThank you for this lovely review.
As you know we pride ourselves on excellent care, a loving family environment and a place that each resident can call their home. Your dad is very missed within our community with his big personality. Please pop in for a cuppa, if you happen to be passing by.

I went to visit an old friend Alan, and was truly impressed with the facilities and staff. From the front door all the way through the building, it was light, bright and smelled lovely. The staff were friendly and knew the residents all by name which was great to see. I was offered a coffee and was
made to feel very welcome. What a joy to behold a "care home" which actually felt like it was the clients homes and not an institution. I was lucky to see a new bedroom" wow it's nicer than my bedroom at home. Alan was relaxed and happy and must have chatted too much as, when i left he was dozing in the lounge. Anyone considering a place of safety for a loved one, which is a home from home please visit here !!
Reply from Rebecca Gwinnett, Deputy Manager at WhitegatesThank you so much for taking the time to share such a wonderful review. It truly means a great deal to us.

We are delighted to hear that you felt welcomed and that the home made such a positive impression from the moment you arrived. Our team works very hard to ensure the environment is warm, homely, and caring, so it's especially rewarding to know this came across during your visit.

It was lovely to hear how relaxed and happy Alan was - that is exactly what we strive for every day. Your kind words about our staff, facilities, and the overall atmosphere of the home will be shared with the team, as feedback like this is incredibly encouraging.

Thank you again for your thoughtful recommendation. You are always very welcome to visit.

Warm regards,
Becky

The exceptional team at Highwell House provided superb care for my Dad during his last few weeks. They made him welcome, were proactive in suggesting the best care and medical approach, and ensured his final days were comfortable and dignified. They took equally good care of us, his family, guiding
us with compassion through a difficult time. I would strongly recommend Highwell House to anyone looking for dementia / palliative care.
Reply from Trudi Barnett, Reg Manager at Highwell House Nursing & Residential CareThank you so much for taking the time to write this wonderfully thoughtful review. Your kind words mean the world to us as a team. Your Dad was gracious, dignified and a true gentleman. It was a privilege to care for him as the end of his life approached, and it was also a pleasure to care for you all as a family. Sending lots of love to you all, and I hope you have a peaceful Christmas.

My mum has been at Charnwood Country Residence for six months and all the staff have made her feel incredibly welcome. Moving to a care home is a huge change but they couldn't have done more to help her settle in. She now feels at home and happy. Nothing has been too much trouble for the staff, no matter
their role. It's wonderful to know she's in such thoughtful and reliable care, and we feel lucky to have found the place.
Reply from Lindsay Hagley, Manager at Charnwood Country ResidenceThank you for taking the time to share these comments, it really is lovely to read that our values here at Charnwood are having such an impact on not only the resident's we support but their families too. Charnwood Country Residence

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Our relative has been at Charnwood for about six months and has come to feel very much at home. Every single member of the staff takes time and care to get to know residents and their unique needs and preferences - not just the care staff, but the events organiser, kitchen staff, maintenance and garden
staff, and probably others I've never even seen - everyone puts residents' individual needs first with patience and kindness. Activities are tailored to the interests of residents, food requirements are adapted willingly and efficiently, and individual routines are respected. We always feel welcomed when we visit - it feels like a caring community and a genuine home. Senior staff cover care shifts when needed to avoid the use of agency staff and this level of commitment trickles down to the whole staff team, who are cheerful, committed and caring.
Reply from Lindsay Hagley, Manager at Charnwood Country ResidenceThank you for such kind words and I will ensure this review is shared with the whole team. Our vision at Charnwood is to be more than a care home, to be a family and community where everyone belongs, is heard and is supported to live with purpose and joy.

My dad has been at Whitegates for a few years, he is very well cared for by super staff who attend to his every need. The staff feed, wash and dress him, he is always very calm and happy. Staff take him out on trips to local cafes we go and meet him there. There are weekly activities emailed to us which
we are welcome to go to. I cannot recommend this place highly. We are very lucky he is so well cared for.

My father has been at Charnwood Country Residence nearly five months now. He has mobility issues and severe dementia. As a family we have been overwhelmed by the care that he has received at Charnwood. The facilities, food and amenitied are all first class, but it is the staff that make it such an exceptional
place. The love and care that they show my father are clear at all times and Amy made him feel loved and special in the way that he deserves as he nears the end of his time with us. He is treated like one of the family and is at peace with himself and is happy as he can possibly be so I couldn't be more grateful to everyone there for their incredible efforts.

Whitegates has been an absolute blessing for our family. My stepdad, who is living with dementia, receives truly outstanding care here. The staff are not only professional and knowledgeable, but also genuinely kind, patient, and compassionate. It's clear they truly care about the residents as individuals.
What
has meant just as much to us is the support they've shown our mom. She's always kept informed, listened to, and made to feel part of the care process. The peace of mind this gives us is invaluable.
The musical activities in particular have been incredibly special. Watching my dad completely immersed in the music, often sitting and conducting with such joy and focus, is deeply moving. It's like he enters a whole new world - one where he's fully engaged and alive in the moment. These moments are priceless for all of us. Thank you, Whitegates, for everything you do. You've made a difficult journey so much easier, and we're incredibly grateful.
Reply from Karen Rogers, Provider at WhitegatesWe're so pleased to hear how much Whitegates has meant to your family and your stepdad. It's wonderful to know that our care and support have brought comfort and peace of mind to you all. Our team works hard to create a home where everyone is valued as an individual and where families feel included every step of the way, so your feedback means a great deal to us. I'll share your lovely comments with the team, who will be so pleased to hear how their care and dedication have made such a positive difference. We're especially happy to hear how much your stepdad enjoys the musical event; moments like those are exactly why we do what we do. Your words mean a great deal to us, and we're so glad to be able to support your family.

My husband has been living well with dementia at Whitegates Care Home since February 2025.Care staff are caring, kind and well aware of Alan's wants and all his needs are met with empathy and respect. Management have ensured that a person centred plan of care is in place and I am involved in all the

You're reading this review because you're thinking of Highwell House for your loved one. My advice is DONT THINK about it, go ahead, book a visit, you wont regret it.
Life at Highwell is exceptional, my husband sadly passed away recently but the kindness shown to both my husband and myself throughout
his time there was remarkable.
I will be forever grateful for the memories I have of us enjoying tea outside on the patio one last time. The consideration shown to us by the staff, enabling us to have our time together, was so thoughtful.
My husbands complex care needs required visits from additional healthcare professions, Highwells team worked skilfully together with them and always kept me informed.
In the latter stages of my husbands life he experienced challenges linked to his illness, but the team at Highwell managed these with kindness, professionalism, and always dignity.
I cant praise everyone enough,
Thankyou for your compassionate care with kindness.
So book your visit today

Highwell House provided a calm and relaxing environment for my late uncle during his stay and I cannot praise the team highly enough. The facilities are outstanding, but it's the staff members who truly make this place special.
In particular, 4 members of staff went above and beyond their duties. Their
care, empathy and genuine authenticity were second to none. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Kindness and professionalism were constant and consistent.
The open-door policy at Highwell House reflects the home's honest and transparent approach to care.....what you see is truly what you get. It was a kind and amazing experience for my uncle and one for which my family and I will always be deeply grateful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My father has been a resident at Highwell House for nearly 3 years. This week, 14 members of our family visited to celebrate his 90th birthday. We had arranged to meet him in their magnificent new entertaining suite and when we arrived we found it decorated with fresh flowers and lots of balloons. The
very well equipped kitchen area was available for us to use and iced water, coffee, tea and milk and fizz glasses were set out ready for us. This was an example of how the management and staff go over and above to enhance the lives of their residents and we feel so grateful to them that we were able to have such a happy, memorable afternoon and for their continuing high quality care.

The team at Hazelhurst are wonderful! My mother was sent there in November 2024 for end-of-life care. She was bedbound and dying, having lost the will to live. The care team were kind, encouraging and loving and did all they could to make her happier. They saved her life and rehabilitated her, gently
and thoughtfully. She's walking again with a rollator and is even strong enough to go on excursions in the minivan. Her recovery is miraculous and would not have happened without the staff at Hazelhurst. The care, wellbeing, catering, cleaning, maintenance and garden teams work together excellently!
Mum thoroughly enjoys the food, praises it highly, she loves the flower gardens and the views across the beautifully landscaped 19 acres. Seasonal events are made special for everyone and she enjoys the various activities that are organised and has made new friends.
Having worked as an agency carer in various homes myself when I was young, I can honestly say that Hazelhurst is the best ever!

What an extraordinary home with an extraordinary staff! I originally found Hazelhurst while in the USA visiting a dear friend who wanted to return to England for Hospice. He didn't have any family who could accommodate him yet they all very much wanted to see him and spend time with him.
Honestly?
Hazelhurst could not have been a better place for him and all of us to spend his last days! The staff (including the doctor) were universally warm and loving, the room was spacious and comfortable, the grounds were simply BEAUTIFUL -and much to his surprise my friend (and all of us visitors) also loved the food!
I read the reviews before applying for a bed for my friend and just prayed that the reality would be as great as they were. And guess what? It very much was! Across the board. If I could award Hazelhurst six stars out of five I would. Highly recommended!
Reply from Karen Rogers, Provider at Hazelhurst Nursing HomeThank you so much for this lovely review. What an absolute honour it was to support you to make it possible for your friend to return to England from America, it was incredible that we made this happen. Thankfully we had some gorgeous weather and he was able to enjoy the beautiful gardens with you and his family. I hope you will have happy memories of these special days. Your review will mean so much to the team. Thank you

Dulas Court

My mother in law came to Dulas for some respite care following quite a traumatic fall at home. The experience from the moment she entered Dulas to leaving was just wonderful. Mother-in-law is living with dementia and can get quite confused at times, needing support to re-orientate. The team at
Dulas are amazing and quickly understood her needs and helped her to feel safe and well looked after. This gave her a sense of security and also reassured us as her family that she was safe.

Mother in law quickly made friends witin the home. The wellbeing of her and others was supported, and she enjoyed several activities and entertainment both inside and outside the Home.

The team at Dulas are incredibly friendly and approachable, readily available to answer any questions and provide assistance. They made us all feel welcomed and valued. Exceptional.

Reply from Becky Williams, Manager at Dulas CourtThank you so much for your review. It was an absolute please to care for your mother in law. I hope she is doing well at home with her beloved dog.

Visited to attend a special birthday of a dear friend, so impressed with the welcome, the attentiveness of the staff, the food, the celebration, special details, but most of all the view. What an overall beautiful place.
