Hazelhurst Nursing Home

from Marilyn S (Daughter of Resident) published on 18 February 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum has (since becoming a resident approx 4 years ago)and does receive excellent care from all the staff at Hazelhurst.
She is happy and content at the home and describes everyone who work there as very good and that they take care of her extremely well.
She has high praise for the excellent meals
they provide and if she isn't feeling particularly hungry on a certain day they will make her an omelette or jacket potatoe with cheese which she will sometimes ask for instead. This shows me as a family member that they will go out of their way to ensure she is catered for and provided with an appropriate meal to suit her needs at particular times.
The cleaners do an excellent job in keeping mum's room clean and the entire home is kept clean and well maintained - I particularly like the way they set out the tables for meal times, they are laid out beautifully.
As her daughter I am happy with all the care and support mum receives from the home and would not hesitate in recommending it

Dulas Court

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The staff are very patient and caring and remain calm if there is a problem. There are paved areas so that residents can walk outside in winter if the weather is suitable and beautiful grounds for warmer dryer weather.

There are lots of activities planned throughout the day for the residents and

they are actively encouraged to join in. The residents look out for each other and regard it as their home and all of this creates a lovely atmosphere enhanced by a beautiful building with plenty of space.

Nothing is too much trouble and the staff always try and deal with any request including purchasing items.

My sister moved into Coldwells House in June 2025. She was living alone before and has a number of health issues. She has benefited greatly from the extra daily support, regular nutritious meals, monitoring of her medication and fluid intake. She is able to partake in a variety of activities if she
chooses. We are able to visit whenever we wish and feel very welcome as there is such a friendly atmosphere.

Four years ago I moved to Dulas Court with my late wife. The love and respect we received and I still receive ensures I feel surrounded by the care of professionals who cater for my every need. Trips to the theatre and a glass of wine with lunch give my life meaning and joy. Her loss was dignified and
my fellow residents (now friends) showed great sympathy helping me grieve and find joy once more. Thank you Dulas Court.

My experience of this care provider has exceeded my expectations. I have therefore no hesitation in recommending this home to those who are searching for a suitable home. The one aspect which reassures me in particular is the personal touch that underlines the day to day experience, and gives peace
of mind to relatives and residents alike. This comes after I have experience of other homes in the past year, all of which came rather short of the required standard. I can now look forward to the future with confidence that my needs will be met, and dealt with in a sensitive way.

Dulas Court is a fantastic care home set in incredible grounds which provide a wonderful and stimulating environment. I have visited on a number of occasions and have particularly noted the caring atmosphere and focus on person-centred care. The home and grounds themselves are maintained to a very high
standard, as well as wonderful staff who are incredibly friendly and kind, in addition to going above and beyond to ensure residents care and happiness. The food always smells incredible too!

Mum has been a resident at Charnwood for 3 years now, and considers it her home. She feels safe and well cared for, and we, as her family, are extremely grateful for the love and care shown to her. On visiting her, we are always shown a warm welcome and know we can address any issues we may have surrounding
mum's health with the care home manager and nursing team. Mum especially enjoys joining in with the activities which are ably provided by Bev, who encourages those who are able to, to join in. A big thank you to all the staff who make Charnwood such a special care home.

Hazelhurst Nursing Home

from Sam J (Daughter of Resident) published on 30 January 2026

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother, who has dementia, has been resident at Hazelhurst for nearly 2 years. It is a testiment to every single member of staff that, despite the fact we are moving some distance away, she will be staying at Hazelhurst. Hazelhurst has become a second, cherished home for her, her daily and weekly
routines ensure she has a secure and safe environment she is familiar with, but also multiple opportunities to take part in activities in and outside the home. Hazelhurst has provided a new, extended family. The food is fantastic, we spent Christmas Day there and enjoyed a fabulous meal! Communication is excellent, we are kept abreast of any issues medically/mentally and offered the opportunity to take part in house, dementia awareness meetings and various seasonal activities. The care staff are warm, friendly, polite, respectful, skilled and professional. Angela has also particulalry benefitted from the presence of beautiful gardens, gardeners and their dogs! A truly exceptional Care Home.

Our family couldn't be happier with the care my grandma has received over the past year. The home is always clean and tidy, which gave us peace of mind from day one. What has surprised us most is the food. Grandma has always been a very picky eater, but she absolutely loves the meals here! She also
really looks forward to the outings, being taken out to enjoy the local scenery has made a huge difference in her happiness. It's wonderful to see her so content and well cared for.

My Mum was admitted to Hazelhurst a year or so ago, by the NHS, for end of life care. She was literally wasting away and had lost the will to even eat. Very sad.
Truly could have just slept away at any time.
From day one Hazelhurst did everything they could to make her as comfortable and dignified
as possible. They tried everything they could to nourish her and help her to start eating again. Her mental health was very poor when she arrived too.
But the genuine care and great nursing skill at Hazelhurst, gradually brought her back to us. They literally saved her life!
She is now very happy there, eating full normal delicious meals and enjoying quality social time with other residents and has even been able to restart attending Church most weeks in Ross-on-Wye.
Visitors are also made genuinely welcome, even at meal times. I've had a number of delicious meals there with my Mum, totally free of charge.
This home is exceptional! And the house, gardens and location are beautiful.
