I cannot speak highly enough of Charnwood Care Home and the exceptional care my uncle receives there. From the moment he arrived, it was clear that this is a place where residents are genuinely cared for, respected, and treated with dignity.

The staff are outstanding - kind, patient, attentive, and

always willing to go the extra mile. Nothing ever feels like too much trouble, and they take the time to really know each resident as an individual, not just a name on a list. My uncle is always spoken to with warmth and compassion, which gives our whole family great reassurance.

The home itself is clean, comfortable, and welcoming, with a calm and positive atmosphere. There is a real sense of community, and it's clear that residents' wellbeing, happiness, and safety are the top priorities. Communication with family members is excellent, and we are always kept informed and listened to.

My husbands Grandmother has been in the care of Charnwood for many years and throughout this time has received nothing less than exceptional care. Residents are treated with the upmost respect, care and compassion by staff. The activities arranged by staff demonstrate that they genuinely care about
residents wellbeing. I would highly recommend this care home.

Charnwood is an exceptional place where the staff demonstrate remarkable care and consideration for the residents. They recognize that each individual has unique needs and diligently work to fulfill them. My family and I feel assured knowing our grandmother is cared for to a very high standard, and
she thrives in such a joyful and nurturing environment. Regular activities are available for residents to engage in. The rooms and communal areas are maintained to a very high standard and visitors are welcomed to spend time with the residents, often over a cup of tea.

We also take our grandmother out for small family gatherings, and Charnwood consistently supports this, ensuring she doesn't miss out on any experiences.

All of the staff are very caring and kind, showing that they really know the residents well by the way they interact and talk to them. They treat the residents with dignity and respect and as individuals. There is always some activity taking place which even if the resident cannot physically get involved
in they always include them as much as possible. They are always supportive of family members and we know we can discuss our family member with them at any time.

The staff at Charnwood have treated my father in law like one of the family, not only do they see that his medical needs are met but they have taken the time to get to know him as a person and to treat him with warmth, humour and compassion.
They make a lot of effort to decorate the home according
to the season and to organise events such as a brilliant fireworks night, complete with hotdogs and a 'quiet' fireworks display for residents and their families.
The staff are good at communicating with family members, and arranging medical input where necessary. They cover serious issues as well as day to day matters with kindness and consideration and try their best to ensure that their charges are as comfortable as possible. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Charnwood.

Whenever I visit Grandma it is clear that she is very well looked after. She always looks smart and has had her hair done. Every time I visit there seems to be a different activity on that is led with passion and enthusiasm. The team at Charnwood have got to know my Grandma and understand her character,
they interact so well with her encouraging her to enjoy all Charnwood offers.
Knowing how well Grandma is looked after has relieved so much stress on my Mum too, Charnwood communicates so well about Grandmas care and have taken the time to chat through family concerns. Mum is a frequent visitor and Charnwood include her in their activities and when the great grandkids visit they include them with juice and biscuits! We all feel at peace knowing at Charnwood Grandma is getting the best care she can.

My mum was adamant that she never wanted to be in a care home, but the time came when I was so concerned about her well being that I had no choice. Having looked around the town nearest to me I found nothing that I was happy with. A friend told me about Charnwood, I had dismissed it because 'country
residence ' sounded posh and I knew mum would not do 'posh'. However, I was persuaded to look and the minute I stepped through the door, I knew it was the right place. It was bright; the dining room was small and cosy, the orangery was light and overlooked the garden, the furniture looked new and the residents were being entertained by the loveliest lady who spoke and treated the residents with respect. I was impressed. The rooms were clean and I love the idea of the 'quiet' room for visiting family.
Whenever I visit the door is always opened by a smiling and welcoming staff member, I am usually offered a cup of tea. Even though my mum is the resident I feel this is our new family.

My experience of Charnwood Country Residence is as a Day care User. A phone call the day before to ask 'can I bring Mum tomorrow please from coffee till after tea ? Certainly what time will you arrive '? . On arrival I am settled into a comfortable chair in the Living Room where I join in whatever
is happening that day or I can choose to do my own thing . Choice of food from a menu is served with correct cutlery napkins and drinks of my choice -milk shakes tea, fizzy cans etc. Sign of an excellant kitchen brigade -they can cook vegetables properly -cabbage that is crisp, make soup and sauces to die for! Any request for help is given promptly, kindly using correct safe methods of handling me . I go home after a lovely day in good company sharing all the residents' and staff news and views . My daughter has had day off caring for me. Money well spent

My 93 year old cousin recently moved into Charnwood from her own home. This also involved a move into a different county in order to live nearer family. She has dementia and has become very wobbly on her feet so a full-time care setting was needed.
My cousin has always been a fiercely independent person
and I was anxious that she would struggle greatly with this move and become either very agitated or depressed. I am so relieved that these worries were completely unfounded! Staff at Charnwood are exceptionally caring. They put each resident's needs at the heart of everything they do each day. They are hard working, professional and so incredibly kind. The bedrooms are immaculately clean and wonderfully homely, routines are flexible and person-centred, the food quality is outstanding, wellbeing initiatives are thoughtfully implemented and the medical and management and support staff are all extremely competent and kind. This place is truly special and I am grateful to have found it.

I can not speak highly enough in praise of the staff at Charnwood.
Every single one of them deserves my total gratitude for their care of my Father.
Their knowledge and professionalism is top class but what makes the team so outstanding is the friendliness, obvious sense of genuine care for the residents,
warmth and smiles and the 'above and beyond' effort they put into lots of extra activities.
It has always stood out that whenever I visit, they remember my name and are happy to answer any questions.
Managements communication about any changes in my Fathers health or situation has been exceptional.
The property itself is small enough to not feel intimidating but large enough to provide separate spaces for residents to socialise or have quiet time, as they prefer.
I would certainly recommend Charnwood to anyone looking for a Care Home and they shall always have my eternal Thanks.

Earlier this year my husband and sister in law took the difficult decision to ask their mother to move from the family home in the east of England to Herefordshire. Visiting a few local care homes, Charnwood really stood head and shoulders above the rest - from the initial meeting with the Manager,
to seeing the Activity Coordinator in action, to the financial information from the Accounts team and to the care and attention received by residents from every member of staff. The team at Charnwood made a difficult decision much more manageable, and my mother in law is thriving in her new home - folk nights at the local pub, daytrips around the area, meals juggled to match her preferences. The day we arrived after a long drive across the country, L and the team were there with a warm welcome, tea & cake, and a card and gift tailored to my mother in law's love of wildlife - a level of thoughtfulness typical of the team and which is evident on every visit. Thank you all.

My mum has been at Charnwood Country Residence for six months and all the staff have made her feel incredibly welcome. Moving to a care home is a huge change but they couldn't have done more to help her settle in. She now feels at home and happy. Nothing has been too much trouble for the staff, no matter

Our relative has been at Charnwood for about six months and has come to feel very much at home. Every single member of the staff takes time and care to get to know residents and their unique needs and preferences - not just the care staff, but the events organiser, kitchen staff, maintenance and garden
staff, and probably others I've never even seen - everyone puts residents' individual needs first with patience and kindness. Activities are tailored to the interests of residents, food requirements are adapted willingly and efficiently, and individual routines are respected. We always feel welcomed when we visit - it feels like a caring community and a genuine home. Senior staff cover care shifts when needed to avoid the use of agency staff and this level of commitment trickles down to the whole staff team, who are cheerful, committed and caring.

My father has been at Charnwood Country Residence nearly five months now. He has mobility issues and severe dementia. As a family we have been overwhelmed by the care that he has received at Charnwood. The facilities, food and amenitied are all first class, but it is the staff that make it such an exceptional
place. The love and care that they show my father are clear at all times and Amy made him feel loved and special in the way that he deserves as he nears the end of his time with us. He is treated like one of the family and is at peace with himself and is happy as he can possibly be so I couldn't be more grateful to everyone there for their incredible efforts.

We have been very impressed with the level of service at Charnwood County Residence. When we visit our grandma, it is clear that all the residents are well looked after, offered a variety of activities throughout the day, and by all accounts the food is great! The home is spotlessly clean and the gardens
are maintained to a high level. We really enjoy the updates on Facebook from the staff, and enjoy seeing our grandma happily getting involved in bingo, painting, flower arranging - to name a few. We also like how the residents are offered a trip out of the home to places across Herefordshire, with the staff taking in to account places which might hold a special meaning to a resident. Her room is light and airy, and always very clean. We are so pleased to have found Charnwood, and would recommend to others.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.952 for Charnwood Country Residence is calculated as follows: ( (417 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 437 Ratings = 4.952
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Charnwood Country Residence is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months.
