My aunt moved to Charnwood 2 weeks ago and I am so pleased with the way her move was facilitated by the Manager. She has been helped to settle in and is constantly reassured by the staff when she is anxious. We visited the home twice: once on an Open Day and the place was buzzing with excitement and
anticipation of events planned. The lunch buffet looked absolutely wonderful and we met the staff who had prepared it. My aunt has settled in already thanks to the care and support of the staff at Charnwood and it is an excellent home. We feel the staff have a good understanding of the needs of the residents at Charnwood.

I came to look at Charnwood seeking a home for my Mother and was absolutely delighted to see the beautiful home at Charnwood. More importantly, the staff all treat the residents with affection and compassion - ensuring that all their needs, physical and emotional are met. We came to the open day and,
despite all the activities going on, the staff had an eagle eye to make sure that no one was neglected and all were happy and involved. Anxious relative are also treated kindly and with patience.

I have had dealings with Charnwood for the last 10 years, firstly with my late aunt for 4 years, followed by 6 years by my friend (still resident) and now my partner. I have no qualms with the care and attention any of them have received and still receiving.

Mum stayed two weeks in Charnwood Country Residence before moving to another home. A lot of effort was made to make her feel comfortable with the new environment.
The carers were very attentive and all the staff tried to find a person-centred approach to her needs.
Her level of cognition is poor
but the staff did all they could to allay her anxiety.

An excellent home, plenty of activities, caring and loving staff, kind and considerate to the residents with lots of laughs with the residents. The home always smells nice, good food, well managed. Medical requirements always come first.
I am happy that she is there, I no longer need to worry about
her. My visits are quality time.

My mother became a resident at Charnwood in September 2017. She was treated with the utmost care and dignity until her recent passing. Whilst she was in their care they laid on a wonderful 100th birthday celebration for her which was truly a memorable occasion. I have nothing but praise for the home
and care staff.

I came for the first time to see a lady I have been friends with for sixty years, from when I was four years old and still see her now.
The welcome I had here at the home was lovely, respectful by all of the staff. I have never seen a home so lovely, clean and such staff good.
11 out of 10, very good.

I have expressed on several occasion that I love the home and have never been happier.
I enjoy the music, the staff and the cake in particular. My room was made very homely and the staff played a great role in helping me to settle in as well as helping my family to adjust.
A huge thank you to all
at Charnwood. A home from home.

Charnwood is a lovely, welcoming place, the care and interaction between residents and carers is second to none. The facilities and the food are also of a very high standard. My mother was treated with tenderness, dignity and respect throughout her stay at Charnwood, right up to her last moments.
I
am very grateful for the loving end of life care she was given, and for the sensitive way the carers dealt with me and her throughout this potentially traumatic period.

My mother-in-law has settled into Charnwood so well and this is due to the kind, caring staff. Whenever we visit, my mother-in-law is so happy and we are made to feel welcome. There are lots of activities for her to do and we can join in anytime. My mother-in-law was a nurser and I love that the staff
allow her to be involved as if she is still working.
A very special place to live.

My friend was admitted to Charnwood in January 2015 when his mobility deteriorated and his arm was semi-functional after an accident. Over this period, vascular dementia was diagnosed to complicate his situation. Throughout the staff at Charnwood have treated him with unfailing kindness and latterly
skilled nursing. I visit often - some of the residents are difficult and demanding but I have never heard irritation or exasperation from any of the staff. Physically, this care home is excellently furbished and set in a beautiful part of Herefordshire, but it is for the personal care it offers that I commend it.

I find Charnwood a very welcome and warm place. The staff make you feel very welcome, however, I do feel that they could do with some more staff. As they always seem to be run off their feet.
Having said that, they still maintain a sense of dignity when dealing with the residents.

Very friendly staff but not enough of them. Really friendly place. Beautiful gardens. The entertainment caters for everyone, with different tastes. Very thoughtful to visitors when there has been an incident with a resident. The only think I find 'very' frustrating is the laundry situation. Clothes
that aren't the residents, underwear and socks.

Charnwood is my father's new home and not just a care facility and the atmosphere is one of a family.
I have been extremely impressed with the professional yet informal approach of all members of staff. It is very obvious that the manager leads by example and expects high standards of care, support
and respect for all the residents. Nothing is too much trouble - residents can ask for whatever they want, whenever they want it, day or night.
Visitors are welcomed at any time and can join in with delicious home cooked meals.

Brilliant. Staff are caring and professional and cope well with a demanding and sometimes impatient resident who often needs help to get in and out of bed, chair etc. Their patience is amazing. You truly have saved my life by giving me a much-needed break, without having to worry about my partner's
care and wellbeing. Thank you.

My Nan very sadly passed away this afternoon at Charnwood. From the beginning of her residence here until the very end the professionalism and dedication of the staff have astounded me. Nan has received the utmost care and love and as a family, we could not have asked for more. Charnwood is more than
a 'care' home, it's a 'home from home' filled with love, respect and dignity for all involved. We cannot thank the home and staff enough for all that they have done to keep my Nan safe, loved and with utmost dignity.

Current Review Score: 10.0 (9.952)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.952) out of 10 for Charnwood Country Residence is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.952 for Charnwood Country Residence is calculated as follows: ( (417 Excellents x 5) + (19 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 437 Ratings = 4.952
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Charnwood Country Residence is based on 37 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 37 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
