View Full Details of Newstead House Nursing and Residential HomeI can honestly say that my husband has been very happy since arriving at Newstead House. He is happy and settled and enjoys the regular schedule of activities that are available e.g. gardening, dominoes and bingo. He particularly enjoys the days when dogs and other animals visit the home. There is always something going on for the residents to enjoy and the staff are wonderful.
My mum moved into Newstead House 7 years ago when living independently with Alzheimer's Disease became too much for her. My sister and I had visited and viewed countless care homes in Herefordshire and after a lot of thought and consideration we settled on Newstead. I cannot rate the care she has received over this time highly enough. They have been quite simply fantastic from the very start right up until mum passed recently. The quality of care and attention from all staff has been outstanding throughout mums time there. All staff caring for mum developed close working relationships with her and knew her very well. When she was unable to verbally communicate anymore they knew her well enough to read other cues so they knew what she wanted and needed. At no time have we ever had concerns that she has been unhappy or concerns about her care. I would hands down recommend Newstead for anyone requiring care in Herefordshire and can't rate them highly enough. Outstanding!!!
The amazing team at Newstead cared for my Mum in the last few weeks of her life. The kindness and empathy of the whole team towards my mum and all our family was so appreciated. They prioritised her comfort but also her dignity. They were respectful of her wishes and communicated so well with her even when it often took a lot of time to be able to understand what she was trying to say. While mum wasn't well enough to take part in any of the weekly activities, we were able to observe these during all the time we spent with her. The feeling of the home is friendly and inclusive and there is a real range of activities which staff help residents to be included in. Newstead is clearly well led and organised. Very quickly the appropriate assessments for continuing health care funding was arranged and adjustments to Mums care was so responsive as her health declined. A massive thank you to the whole team who made such a difficult time as comfortable and peaceful as possible.
From the moment we arrived at Newstead, Mum was met with warmth care and compassion. Mum was spoken to with such kindness and respect, even though she was struggling with speech the time and patients that the team had was amazing and this barrier was never an issue. The lengths they took to get to know her and to make sure they could bond with her which was absolutely fantastic and so reassuring. My mum was so anxious prior to arriving at Newstead but she was visibly and verbally about to express her relief to be in such a fantastic place.
Newstead provides a welcoming homely environment for both residents and visitors. The care that my aunt receives at Newstead is excellent, my aunt has had several strokes resulting in the loss of the use of her left arm and leg. As a result, she requires a significant amount of care. The staff and management at Newstead are very caring and attentive and spend time ensuring that all my aunt's needs are catered for.
Newstead House is a very well run home with a very pleasant feel to it that you appreciate as you arrive in reception. The residents rooms are really nicely decorated, and well maintained. Very clean, bright and welcoming. The recent addition of the refurbishments of the residents lounge creates a most pleasant area to enjoy and has been compared to a good standard. The conservatory is another nice area to enjoy and spend time!
My grandmother was moved to Newstead at our request due to the previous home not being able to meet my grandmother's needs, the manager of Newstead is very passionate and dedicated to provide the correct environment and care that each resident requires she speaks very highly of the team of staff that they have at Newstead and it's very obvious that staff have been there for a long time with little temporary staff required, which is beneficial for my grandmother and for the families. Always feel welcome when visiting my grandmother. My grandmother enjoys the activities that Newstead has to offer.
When visiting my nan the carers are always helpful and accommodating. My nan feels extremely happy there. The facilities are clean and tidy with plenty of things to do throughout the day if she wants to.
All staff are very helpful and caring. The property is always clean to a good standard and my mother-in-law feels like she is at home. Considering her condition that can only be described as a good thing.
My mother moved to Newstead House Nursing and Residential Home at the end of July due to having a stroke, I can not praise the management, staff and nurses enough for the new lease of life it has given my mother. From the moment you walk into the home, you are greeted with a smile and a chat. I have to mention the manager when we first visited Newstead looking for the ideal home to move my mother to, she was just amazing, so patient and very knowledgeable, her wonderful personality made me know my mother would be in safe hands and receive the care and attention she would need.
Very happy with how Mum has been treated by all care staff, nurses and manager. Always on hand to have a chat with on how mum is doing. The home is lovely, clean, warm and very friendly. Plenty of daily activities from bingo to skittles. So glad Mum has settled into her new home.
The care and attention for my nan is second to none, absolutely no worries or sleepless nights knowing she is being taken care of at Newstead. All of the staff are so helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much to ask for. Thanks so much, everyone.
After much consideration and research, my mother went to live at Newstead House in September 2021 aged 96 with increasing mobility issues and a diagnosis of progressive vascular dementia. From the moment she arrived, we were welcomed with open arms and made to feel that nothing was too much trouble by any of the staff, from the management, senior nurses, care staff, and domestic and catering staff. I immediately felt my mother was safe and would be well cared for, which indeed she was. There is always a full and varied daily activities programme, in-house home-cooked food with plenty of choice. Each resident is a loved and valued member of the 'Newstead family' and there is always an air of calm, friendship and kindness the moment you step inside the door. No resident could ever feel bored, hungry, lonely or worried. I would have absolutely no reservations about recommending Newstead to anyone, it is an amazing care home, a rare find at a time of anguish and worry. Thank you for everything.
My aunt has been a resident at Newstead since January 2024. I visit very regularly and see how kind and caring the staff are and also how happy their residents are as well.
I can honestly say that it was Newstead House that picked me up and put me back on my feet. Thank you to all the team for all your help and kindness.
My husband was cared for in Newstead House in Hereford for nearly a year before he passed away at the end of August 2023. The love and care he received at this nursing home was excellent. All of the staff, especially the nurses and carers, showed him so much love and cared for him so well. They also treated me and all of his family with care and nothing was too much trouble for them. I will be eternally grateful to everyone there.
We were welcomed into the house and told we will take care of all your daily needs and your time is for enjoying yourself. We were just surprised by a wonderful lunch to celebrate our 50th anniversary. We could not be happier, spending our time laughing and joking with the members.
For the past 18 months, my father has resided at Newstead House, during which time it is clear he has developed strong and happy bonds with residents and house staff. This connection with both was recently key in the early recognition that his health had taken a sudden and unexpected turn for the worse. The staff’s rapid professional, and deeply caring, intervention to get my father into the medical system resulted in the identification and treatment of a previously undetected risk to his life. Dad is back once again in the place he calls ‘home’ much to the relief of his fellow residents, many of whom have become close friends, and the amazing staff.
Newstead House is a lovely and well-organised home. My aunt has been living there happily for some time now. The nursing staff know her well and can always be relied on to answer our queries. They don't just care for her - they clearly care about her.
My sister spent almost two years at Newstead. She always looked clean and well cared for and she always regarded Newstead as her home. She never complained and I think she was as happy as she could have been in the circumstances. I am very grateful to the staff at Newstead for all the kindness, patience and care that they gave her.
