I can not speak highly enough of the care my mum has received at Newstead. It doesn't matter what day or time I visit I'm always welcomed and can see that my mum is being extremely well looked after by staff that really care. I'm very happy with all aspects of her daily care and the life she is living there . She is now living not just existing. A very big thank you to all the staff who work so hard to make my mums life the best it can be.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It is truly a pleasure to care for your mum at Newstead.
Without exception the care staff are caring, supportive and attentive and the management team of the home are compassionate and knowledgeable. We are fully informed and engaged in all decisions made in the care and nursing plan for her and I have total trust that they are doing the best at all times for her well-being. The home is always clean and bright and it really has the feeling of a "home" rather than an institution.
Before she came to Newstead we felt my mother was "existing", but now her quality of life is massively improved. The home has activities every morning and afternoon, and the care team encourage her to participate, but at no time is any pressure exhorted.
I would recommend Newstead to anyone faced with the dilemma of finding a care home that really "cares", because on a daily basis they demonstrate they really do.
Thank you for you review. It is always good to have confirmation that we are delivering our aim of helping our residents to live their best lives. Your mum is very much a part of the Newstead family.
My Dad stayed at Newstead for end of life care for the last few months of his life until he passed in November 2025. Although he didn't wasn't felling up to joining in with the activities he was always invited. His care was second to none and all of the staff were absolutely fantastic both with him and me and my mum. We never felt worried or concerned leaving him as we knew he was in the very best place. In particular in the last few days of his life he was treated with such care I cannot thank the staff enough. Truly an amazing care home with the most special of staff.
Thanks you for submitting your review. It was a pleasure to care for your father in the last months of his life. We loved hearing stories of his previous escapades and his near misses and disasters!
Our sister had been at Newstead for just over a year, and in that time the staff truly made it her home. She formed such lovely friendships with the staff and manager, and we always felt reassured knowing she was surrounded by kindness and care. Toward the end of her life, her health declined rapidly and her passing was unexpected. I cannot thank the nurse on duty that day enough. She gave us the precious chance to say goodbye, knowing we wouldn't make it there in time. We will never forget her words: that our sister had her Newstead family with her, they were holding her hand, sitting with her, cuddling her, that she was not alone and not in pain, and they would not leave her. Twenty minutes later, I received the call to say she had passed. The love, compassion and support shown to us meant everything. Every one of you are angels and will always hold a special place in our heart.
Thank you for your very kind review. Your sister was a sepcial lady who was always smiling and had a twinkle in her eye. It was a pleasure to care for her and to know that she, and you, considered Newstead her home.
The way they cared for Dad, especially, in the last few days of his life was exceptional, as is the support that we have received, since he passed.
Thank you all so much.
Thank you for sharing this review. Your Dad was such a lovely man and it was always very clear how much his family meant to him. We loved having him, and you, at Newstead. He could always bring a smile to our faces when we could hearing singing from down the corridor. He, and you, will always have a place in our hearts
Our Mum lived at Newstead for 4 years and over that time her health condition meant she gradually became more frail until, sadly, she passed away in September 2025. During that time Mum's changing needs were well catered for-even when her involvement in group activities lessened the Activities team would spend time with Mum on a 1:1 basis. The carers were very good and supported Mum with her daily needs and established and maintained a good rapport with Mum and the family. The care Mum received in her final days was exceptional and much appreciated by my sisters and myself. Thank you to all the staff at Newstead.
Thank you for submitting your kind review. Your Mum was very much a part of Newstead and her quick wit and dry sense of humour were a joy to behold. We felt honoured to care for her in her last years.
Mum lived at Newstead for over three years before she passed away in July 2025. She was very well cared for throughout the whole time she was there but the care she received at the end of her life was exceptional and she was treated with great dignity and respect. Our family were always welcomed at the home and my father in particular became part of the Newstead family. He visited every day and was encouraged to join in with the activities with Mum and then as an individual when Mum was no longer able to join in (but would sit and watch). In fact he still goes to the home several times a week to join in his favourite activities and is always welcomed as an old friend. It is incredibly, incredibly rare for any bank staff to be on shift and I am sure that this contributes to staff creating a family atmosphere. All staff are friendly and kind - the manager, nursing staff, health care assistants, cleaners and kitchen staff equally and they greet you when you arrive. A really lovely home.
Thank you for you kind words. It was so lovely that your Dad was able to visit your Mum every day while she was here. They loved to be together. We are so pleased that he still wants to come and get involved in his favourite activities and maintain his relationship with the staff and residents in the Newstead family
flagship carehome!
Thank you for your kind words. It was a real pleasure to look after your Dad, albeit for a relatively short period of time. Your devotion to him was evident from the moment we met you and we are so glad that we were able to support you through those final days.
I can honestly say that my husband has been very happy since arriving at Newstead House. He is happy and settled and enjoys the regular schedule of activities that are available e.g. gardening, dominoes and bingo. He particularly enjoys the days when dogs and other animals visit the home. There is always something going on for the residents to enjoy and the staff are wonderful.
Thank you for your kind words. It is so good to know that you are both happy with your husband's care and that he enjoys the wide range of activities we provide
My mum moved into Newstead House 7 years ago when living independently with Alzheimer's Disease became too much for her. My sister and I had visited and viewed countless care homes in Herefordshire and after a lot of thought and consideration we settled on Newstead. I cannot rate the care she has received over this time highly enough. They have been quite simply fantastic from the very start right up until mum passed recently. The quality of care and attention from all staff has been outstanding throughout mums time there. All staff caring for mum developed close working relationships with her and knew her very well. When she was unable to verbally communicate anymore they knew her well enough to read other cues so they knew what she wanted and needed. At no time have we ever had concerns that she has been unhappy or concerns about her care. I would hands down recommend Newstead for anyone requiring care in Herefordshire and can't rate them highly enough. Outstanding!!!
Thank you, Tasha, for your very kind words. We were privileged to look after your Mum and provide her with care in the way we knew she would have wanted. Although she was not able to respond verbally, in the latter part of her illness, we were frequently blessed with a beaming smile which would just light up her whole face. Your Mum will always have a place in our hearts.
Newstead is clearly well led and organised. Very quickly the appropriate assessments for continuing health care funding was arranged and adjustments to Mums care was so responsive as her health declined. A massive thank you to the whole team who made such a difficult time as comfortable and peaceful as possible.
Thank you, Abi, for taking the time to post a reveiw. We really value your feedback and it means a lot to the team to know that we have provided the best care to your Mum.Although your Mum was with us a relatively short perod of time she, and you as a family, made a big impact on the team. Your love for each other shone through and it was clear that she was at the very heart of your family.
From the moment we arrived at Newstead, Mum was met with warmth care and compassion.
Mum was spoken to with such kindness and respect, even though she was struggling with speech the time and patients that the team had was amazing and this barrier was never an issue.
The lengths they took to get to know her and to make sure they could bond with her which was absolutely fantastic and so reassuring.
My mum was so anxious prior to arriving at Newstead but she was visibly and verbally about to express her relief to be in such a fantastic place.
Thank you so much for your kind words. It was an absolute privilege to care for your Mum and welcome you all to the Newstead family. Although your Mum was only here a relatively short period of time, she and you, as a family, had a massive impact on all the staff here. We will never forget her or her amazing family whose only concern was her wellbeing. Thank you again
Newstead provides a welcoming homely environment for both residents and visitors. The care that my aunt receives at Newstead is excellent, my aunt has had several strokes resulting in the loss of the use of her left arm and leg. As a result, she requires a significant amount of care. The staff and management at Newstead are very caring and attentive and spend time ensuring that all my aunt's needs are catered for.
Thank you for completing this review. We appreciate your kind comments and we are so pleased that you are happy with the care your aunt receives
Newstead House is a very well run home with a very pleasant feel to it that you appreciate as you arrive in reception. The residents rooms are really nicely decorated, and well maintained. Very clean, bright and welcoming. The recent addition of the refurbishments of the residents lounge creates a most pleasant area to enjoy and has been compared to a good standard. The conservatory is another nice area to enjoy and spend time!
Thank you for your kind review. We appreciate your positive feecback
My grandmother was moved to Newstead at our request due to the previous home not being able to meet my grandmother's needs, the manager of Newstead is very passionate and dedicated to provide the correct environment and care that each resident requires she speaks very highly of the team of staff that they have at Newstead and it's very obvious that staff have been there for a long time with little temporary staff required, which is beneficial for my grandmother and for the families. Always feel welcome when visiting my grandmother. My grandmother enjoys the activities that Newstead has to offer.
Thank you for your kind review. We are so pleased that your Grandmother is happy living with us at Newstead House.
When visiting my nan the carers are always helpful and accommodating. My nan feels extremely happy there. The facilities are clean and tidy with plenty of things to do throughout the day if she wants to.

All staff are very helpful and caring. The property is always clean to a good standard and my mother-in-law feels like she is at home. Considering her condition that can only be described as a good thing.

From the moment you walk into the home, you are greeted with a smile and a chat.
I have to mention the manager when we first visited Newstead looking for the ideal home to move my mother to, she was just amazing, so patient and very knowledgeable, her wonderful personality made me know my mother would be in safe hands and receive the care and attention she would need.
Thank you for your kind words. We are delighted that you are happy with the care your mum receives at Newstead. It is a pleasure and privilege to care for her and to welcome you all to the Newstead family.

Meet the Team (7)

I have extensive experience in managing care homes and have been the Registered Manager at Newstead House since January 2018.
I have always had an affinity with the older generation and it has been a privilege to work with them for so many years.
I have always considered the senior generation as people who deserve the best and I feel honoured to be in a position, along with my fantastic team, to provide those in our care with the opportunity to live the best life they can at Newstead House.

I enjoy helping others to live their best lives. I love getting to know residents and their families really well and working with a dedicated team to make, even the smallest things matter. Enriching the lives and wellbeing of our residents.

A warm and friendly face, supporting residents wherever i can. I really enjoy getting to know residents and their families.

It's important to me to ensure all activities are personally centred to residents, allowing residents to live their best lives and promote independence.

I joined Newstead House in 2016 as a cleaner and was then promoted to Head of Ancillary in 2018. My team and I pride ourselves in making a positive atmosphere and keeping our high standards of cleanliness. Our priority is the well being of the residents to enable them to live their best lives.

I like to be kept busy around Newstead House, no job is too big or small for me as I love making residents smile.

As the Head Chef here at Newstead, a well balanced diet full of nutrition, quality ingredients and taste is so important to me. We review our menu's every 3 months to ensure variety is offered.
