Dad was no longer able to live alone being diagnosed with advanced Vascular Dementia. We chose the Lawns as a nursing home having visited without notice and met management and nursing staff, getting a good feeling. Lawns were wonderful in making Dad's discharge from hospital at short notice trouble
free, causing him as little stress as possible. Dad arrived at Lawns underweight and frail, with little interest in his surroundings and in engaging with others. He settled in quickly, gained weight and was gently integrated into life at Lawns. He needed nudging to join into activities, which with the sympathetic way his carers and activity staff acted began to happen, they got his sense of humour and he increasingly became his old self. We continued to visit Dad at Lawns without notice and consistently found him being looked after with compassion and genuine interest by the same cohort of carers month in and month out. Lawns End of Life care for Dad was faultless. Thank you.
Reply from Melanie Dawson, Manager at The LawnsThank you for your lovely words, your dad was a character and it was a pleasure to spend time with him, a celebration of a life well lived Melanie

Thank you all for the wonderful compassionate care that you showed my father in his final two weeks with you. We were so lucky to have you manage his end of life care.
You were all so incredibly kind and caring and I reference you fondly in the eulogy that I am writing.
Many staff had a special
touch with dad - being incredibly kind and you certainly helped him to settle in.
We are eternally grateful that we were lucky enough to have you care for our dad when he most needed it. Thank you again so much!
Reply from Melanie Dawson, Manager at The LawnsMany thanks for allowing us to be the care solution for your father - an incredible man who's life i am sure will be celebrated with wine and many stories Melanie

I stayed at Nowton for six weeks respite care. It is a lovely old building set in wooded area, very peaceful. Staff go out of their way to help but it is not a care home as such and one needs to be aware of the actual services provided. Care services such as help with bathing or mobility issues
are contracted by you with an independent care company. The manager Sam goes out of her way to assist and deal with any problems.

My mum has been a resident of Nowton Village for nearly a year now. I cannot recommend and thank all the staff enough for the care, attention and warmth they have shown and continue to show. Mum is well and truly part of the Nowton family now and alongside the wonderful staff the facilities are just
beautiful. Mum living at Nowton is such a comfort to us as her children, knowing she is safe especially after some challenging medical episodes. Thank you so much.

On Mothering Sunday, I was invited to share lunch at West Eaton with my friend ( her family lives too far away to come often). The dining room was beautifully set, and I was made to feel very welcome. Everyone received a small gift. There were two large family groups (3 or 4 generations). I sat with
my friend and two other ladies. The food was excellent, my dietary needs were catered for, and the atmosphere was friendly. Residents were treated with care and respect. It was like a family party; the staff couldn't have done more to make us happy.
Reply from Charmaine Denham, Registered Home Manager at West Eaton Nursing and Residential homeThank you so much for your wonderful review. We are truly delighted that you were able to join us for Mothering Sunday and share such a special occasion with your friend. Our team works hard to create meaningful moments for residents and their loved ones, so knowing it felt like a family celebration is incredibly rewarding. We hope to welcome you back again soon.

I can't speak highly enough of the team at Nowton Court. My father regularly stays for respite care, and the peace of mind it gives me is invaluable. From the moment he arrives, he is welcomed warmly by friendly, approachable staff who genuinely care and take the time to get to know him.
He truly
enjoys his stays, which says everything. The food is excellent and always something he looks forward to, and there is a real sense of comfort and routine that helps him feel at home.
Knowing that he is safe, comfortable and well looked after allows me to step away without any concerns, which is something I don't take for granted. He always returns relaxed, happy and well cared for.
Nowton Court provides not just excellent care, but also a welcoming and supportive environment for both residents and their families. I'm incredibly grateful for everything they do.
Reply from Sam Dacey, Manager at Nowton Court VillageThank you Ian. We love having Dad with us. He's such a gentleman.

The staff at Nowton Court have the best interests of my mum at heart. At the beginning of the year mum had a serious infection and was hospitalised for nearly 3 weeks. At all stages of this illness, the Manager acted professionally and swiftly to assess the situation and call in medical assistance
at the right time. She assessed the severity of mum's condition immediately and acted quickly. On return from hospital, Mum was very confused but she made a quick recovery and transitioned smoothly into her old routines with the help of all the staff.

Today, Mothering Sunday West Eaton invited families of residents to a Mother's Day lunch.
Three generations in our family enjoyed a delicious meal with superb hospitality, thoughtful table gifts and pretty table decorations. No effort on the part of the staff at the home was spared. All were and are
so friendly, obliging and courteous and made our day very special and memorable. A big thank you to everyone.
Looking forward to this week we know that there will be plenty of fun activities for all residents and that every day will be individually enjoyable.

My Dad stayed at Newstead for end of life care for the last few months of his life until he passed in November 2025. Although he didn't wasn't felling up to joining in with the activities he was always invited. His care was second to none and all of the staff were absolutely fantastic both with him
and me and my mum. We never felt worried or concerned leaving him as we knew he was in the very best place. In particular in the last few days of his life he was treated with such care I cannot thank the staff enough. Truly an amazing care home with the most special of staff.
Reply from Alison Ough, Manager at Newstead House Nursing and Residential HomeThanks you for submitting your review. It was a pleasure to care for your father in the last months of his life. We loved hearing stories of his previous escapades and his near misses and disasters!
