Thank you Shenda and Luisa for all the time and effort you have put in, over the last three months, to secure a permanent placement for Dad. We are so grateful that he can continue to live in familiar surroundings and be cared for by the wonderful staff he knows, and know him. You have shown just how passionate you are in ensuring that vunerable residents receive the care they are entitled to.

As a family we are absolutely delighted that our my mum is receiving exceptional care here. Without exception all the staff are caring and nothing is too much trouble. Not only do they look after our mum but have supported our family too. The building and grounds are beautiful, spotlessly clean and well maintained. It is a restful and peaceful environment. Residents have lovely freshly cooked meals every day. Visitors too can have a two course lunch for a very small charge. The frequent entertainment programme is fun and offers a huge range of activities. Without doubt we would highly recommend Abberton Manor and are very grateful for all the love and care they are providing.

My brother has been a resident at Abberton Manor for nearly two years, two years of exceptional care! The staff are caring, attentive and, most important, recognise each resident as an individual, not a 'task'. A comfortable environment, excellent meals, attentive nursing and personal care and also a creative activities program that includes bringing the local community to the residents. As a residents relative I particularly appreciate the good communication with the staff. First rate!

During this call with (Lisa care home manager), we explained our Father's condition at length, Lisa seemed more interested in 'glossing over' our Father's health concerns, to upsell Abberton manor to us!. We were totally transparent about the fact our Father was blind, had dementia and was traumatised by the very recent loss of his wife of 60 years. The main reason for choosing Abberton Manor was location to my Father's beloved Mersea. On admitance (January 10th 2026), we were greeted with agency nurses who didn't seem to be aware of our presence, let alone my Fathers complex needs!. He was assigned an upstairs room ( he's blind!), I insisted on a sensory mat, to avoid my Father falling down a winding staircase!. Even when the mat buzzed no one came!, this happened regularly!. Abberton Manor has an ethos of money over care!

Wonderful staff each and everyone who works at the Manor, are kind and enthusiastic with fantastic personalities with all of the residents. The nursing staff, are great and extremely knowledgeable the residents have the kindest of care. All the boys and girls on the care team are extremely hard working and yet always have the time to sit and chat with residents as well as there visitors and keep everybody upto speed. Kitchen, cleaning, office, handyman/gardening and entertainment really go the extra mile. Bravo Team Abberton Manor.

Abberton Manor is set in beautiful grounds and activities often take place under the gazebos. It really is home from home.

I could not recomend this carehome highly enough.My father has been a resident for over a year.The staff are delightful and do an amazing job. Food is always freshly prepared and delicious . I have been able to order lunch and eat with dad for a small cost. There are many activities during the week and visits from musicians choirs and more. I didnt think care homes could be like this ! There are lovely grounds to wander in including a walled garden ...my dog is welcome too!

I feel very lucky that mother lives in such a lovely home.

The staff at the home were also always ready to help us too, the family and to take time to talk to us. We found the whole atmosphere relaxed and friendly.

My brother has been a resident full time for the previous 7 months, having received earlier intermittent respite care. I have been impressed by the care provided by all the staff at Abberton Manor, which is professional, prompt, and above all, kind and thoughtful. My brother has multiple needs, both physical and mental, and at times can present challenges, but he is treated with patience, in a friendly, cheerful and open environment. Family members are always warmly welcomed and encouraged to participate in the life of the manor, as well as being kept up to date on care issues in a timely manner.

Husband spent nearly 3 weeks at Abberton Manor before he passed away - The staff were so lovely with their care and empathy, couldn't have wished for a better nursing home for my husband. Wonderful care, gracious surroundings and care that actually cared for the well being of their residents - made so much difference to my life and to my husbands.

My sister was at Abberton Manor from October 2033 to December 2024. During that time the care and consideration given to her was excellent. The nurses and carers went above and beyond to make her feel welcome and comfortable. I would like to thank all of the staff at the home for their kindness to her and to me.

A special mention for one member of staff in particular on the entertainment team who my mum loves.

Not only do they provide outstanding care for my wife they are also very comforting to myself. I would highly recommend this home and I am forever grateful for all that they do.

I moved here at the end of October 2023 after 28 years in a certain area. My brother lives close by and I asked him and his wife to find me a nursing/care home in their area. After some time and many visits to other places, they decided Abberton Manor fulfilled my exacting requirements, not too many residents, great architecture, rooms with high ceilings and in spring/summer a garden to sit in. It has been an eye-opening experience for me, the staff day and night (nursing, catering) in fact everyone from top to toe has been very caring and attentive at all times. I cannot answer value for money as I have no input for this, my brother deals with all financial matters.

Me and my family would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at the Abberton Manor Nursing Home for the truly great care that they gave my brother during his time there before he passed away. We were so very happy with the way we were welcomed when we visited my brother.

I was worried about my dad spending his last days in a care home but as soon as we got to Abberton Manor Nursing Home, the staff where lovely. The respect and the care he received were beautiful. Couldn't ask for a better place for him to spend his last days and can’t thank the staff enough.
