My mum has started displaying very challenging behaviour lately. The whole team remain kind, caring and professional. On Sunday her mood and the weather improved and so she was wrapped up snuggly and taken out briefly. She enjoyed herself so much and was just so happy. Also during a period of extreme
anxiety a member of staff made the effort to search out prayers specific to her religion in an effort to comfort her. I am so extremely humbled by all the staff's continued care of my of my dear mum.
Reply from Charmaine Denham, Registered Home Manager at West Eaton Nursing and Residential homeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review, we are so glad that the team was able to support her in both her moments of anxiety and joy, and that they were able to bring her comfort through something as personal as her religion. It's wonderful to know that, even in challenging times, we've been able to create moments of happiness for her and will continue to provide the best care we can.

Our Mum lived at Newstead for 4 years and over that time her health condition meant she gradually became more frail until, sadly, she passed away in September 2025. During that time Mum's changing needs were well catered for-even when her involvement in group activities lessened the Activities team
would spend time with Mum on a 1:1 basis. The carers were very good and supported Mum with her daily needs and established and maintained a good rapport with Mum and the family. The care Mum received in her final days was exceptional and much appreciated by my sisters and myself. Thank you to all the staff at Newstead.
Reply from Alison Ough, Manager at Newstead House Nursing and Residential HomeThank you for submitting your kind review. Your Mum was very much a part of Newstead and her quick wit and dry sense of humour were a joy to behold. We felt honoured to care for her in her last years.

My time here at West Eaton has been a rollercoaster for me. I can honestly say it has been a joy to be here. Each member of staff, from cleaner to manager, has played a part in getting me well and back to my old self. I had lost all ability to live. I wasn't taking my insulin (Type 1) or pills I slept
in a chair for over 2 years. Now I sleep in a bed and take my insulin and pills on time. All the staff each have a special give. I love having a bath with all the bubbles as I don't have one at home. I have shed a few tears and had many a cuddle. They all show true happiness and love in their jobs. They are so all dedicated to every patient even the grumpy ones. The food is like a 4 star restaurant. I love you all and thank you so much.

My mother moved to West Eaton in August 2025. It has been a joy to have her cared for professionally with courtesy, love and as one of the family. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, and the evident ethos at the home is to make the lives of the residents as enjoyable, positive, fun, stimulating
and interesting as possible. Everyone is catered for individually and personally. The admission process was easy and straightforward with the necessary support along the way. Everyone from the kitchen up to management works as a team, and as soon as one enters West Eaton, visitors feel genuinely welcome and included. My mother particularly enjoys the beautiful garden and is taken out frequently.
Reply from Charmaine Denham, Registered Home Manager at West Eaton Nursing and Residential homeThank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. We're genuinely pleased to hear that your mother has settled well at West Eaton and that you've felt supported from the very beginning of the admission process. Our team works hard to maintain a culture where residents are treated with dignity, warmth and genuine family-style care, so your feedback really reinforces that we're moving in the right direction. It's encouraging to hear that the garden and regular outings have made a positive impact on your mother's day-to-day experience. Creating an environment that is engaging, uplifting and tailored to each individual is exactly what we strive for. We truly appreciate your kind words about the whole team-every department plays its part, and your recognition means a great deal to us. Thank you again for your trust in West Eaton.

My mother moved into West Eaton when she was no longer able to look after herself and stayed there until her death, aged 95. While she became increasingly immobile and her eyesight and hearing failed, she took part in the many activities the staff and volunteers put on, both inside the house and on
occasional excursions. She had her own room, light and airy, which we decorated with items from her house. She was able to watch her favourite programmes on TV in her room.
I cannot praise the staff enough for the care and understanding they gave to my mother. They were wonderful throughout: they treated her as a friend or as one of their own family. She was mentally alert right until the end, and came to see West Eaton as her home rather than just "a" home. We found the management and staff friendly, approachable, and ready to make little changes to make her life more comfortable. I have visited several care homes recently and can definitely recommend West Eaton as the very best.
Reply from Charmaine Denham, Registered Home Manager at West Eaton Nursing and Residential homeThank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. We're truly honoured that your mother chose to make West Eaton her home, and it means a great deal to know that she felt comfortable, cared for, and part of our family during her time with us. Our team takes great pride in creating a supportive and homely environment where every resident can enjoy meaningful activities and maintain their individuality, so your words about the staff's kindness and understanding are especially appreciated. It was a privilege to care for your mother, and we're grateful to have shared that part of her life with her and your family.

Mum lived at Newstead for over three years before she passed away in July 2025. She was very well cared for throughout the whole time she was there but the care she received at the end of her life was exceptional and she was treated with great dignity and respect. Our family were always welcomed at
the home and my father in particular became part of the Newstead family. He visited every day and was encouraged to join in with the activities with Mum and then as an individual when Mum was no longer able to join in (but would sit and watch). In fact he still goes to the home several times a week to join in his favourite activities and is always welcomed as an old friend. It is incredibly, incredibly rare for any bank staff to be on shift and I am sure that this contributes to staff creating a family atmosphere. All staff are friendly and kind - the manager, nursing staff, health care assistants, cleaners and kitchen staff equally and they greet you when you arrive. A really lovely home.
Reply from Alison Ough, Manager at Newstead House Nursing and Residential HomeThank you for you kind words. It was so lovely that your Dad was able to visit your Mum every day while she was here. My father has been at West Eaton for 14 months now. The staff are amazing. Nothing is ever too much to ask. They look after all my fathers needs, including encouraging and supporting him in the pursuit of his hobbies and interests. All the staff (management, medical, carers, housekeeping and maintenance
are so approachable and always willing to make necessary changes when requested, with immediate effect. This is a wonderful facility. We have been encouraged and supported in making my father's room his personal space. He has enjoyed and benefited from the activities and goes out on trips with staff. I can not thank the team at West Eaton enough for all their hard work and devotion.

Our dad was only at Newstead for 4 weeks as he didn't settle at the first care home. We didn't know that dad would need end of life care so quickly. It was a real blessing that Newstead was there for him. I cannot praise all the staff highly enough. From the minute dad arrived they went out of their
way to make us all feel welcome and valued. Their absolute professionalism, expertise and sensitivity in caring for him in his last days was overwhelming. I was able to spend precious moments with Dad as a daughter, not his carer - I cannot thank them enough for their love and support. The manager's door was always open and the nurses always available for consultations. The carers also knew our names and were always around to offer help if needed. The impressive management imparted a ethos of respect and care for their loyal staff - enabling them to work efficiently and compassionately. The Doctor was outstanding too! The whole package gets 10/ 10. Should be a
flagship carehome!

My mum moved into Newstead House 7 years ago when living independently with Alzheimer's Disease became too much for her. My sister and I had visited and viewed countless care homes in Herefordshire and after a lot of thought and consideration we settled on Newstead. I cannot rate the care she has received
over this time highly enough. They have been quite simply fantastic from the very start right up until mum passed recently. The quality of care and attention from all staff has been outstanding throughout mums time there. All staff caring for mum developed close working relationships with her and knew her very well. When she was unable to verbally communicate anymore they knew her well enough to read other cues so they knew what she wanted and needed. At no time have we ever had concerns that she has been unhappy or concerns about her care. I would hands down recommend Newstead for anyone requiring care in Herefordshire and can't rate them highly enough. Outstanding!!!
Reply from Alison Ough, Manager at Newstead House Nursing and Residential HomeThank you, Tasha, for your very kind words. We were privileged to look after your Mum and provide her with care in the way we knew she would have wanted. Although she was not able to respond verbally, in the latter part of her illness, we were frequently blessed with a beaming smile which would just light up her whole face. Your Mum will always have a place in our hearts.

The amazing team at Newstead cared for my Mum in the last few weeks of her life. The kindness and empathy of the whole team towards my mum and all our family was so appreciated. They prioritised her comfort but also her dignity. They were respectful of her wishes and communicated so well with her even
when it often took a lot of time to be able to understand what she was trying to say. While mum wasn't well enough to take part in any of the weekly activities, we were able to observe these during all the time we spent with her. The feeling of the home is friendly and inclusive and there is a real range of activities which staff help residents to be included in.
Newstead is clearly well led and organised. Very quickly the appropriate assessments for continuing health care funding was arranged and adjustments to Mums care was so responsive as her health declined. A massive thank you to the whole team who made such a difficult time as comfortable and peaceful as possible.

From the moment we arrived at Newstead, Mum was met with warmth care and compassion.

Mum was spoken to with such kindness and respect, even though she was struggling with speech the time and patients that the team had was amazing and this barrier was never an issue.

The lengths they took to get

to know her and to make sure they could bond with her which was absolutely fantastic and so reassuring.

My mum was so anxious prior to arriving at Newstead but she was visibly and verbally about to express her relief to be in such a fantastic place.

My mother has recently died after five years at West Eaton. I cannot praise the staff highly enough. They combined human warmth and humour with superb care throughout her time there. They adapted to the different stages of her health (and dementia), always helping her to enjoy life as much as she was
able. Staff were always polite, calm, caring and friendly, and as a regular visitor I was always made welcome. Their different approaches to different residents was testament to their thoughtfulness and intention to do their best for every individual. I am immensely grateful to them all. The setting is wonderful. The view is lovely, the home is filled with natural and uplifting light and many residents and visitors make use of the garden.

Newstead House is a very well run home with a very pleasant feel to it that you appreciate as you arrive in reception. The residents rooms are really nicely decorated, and well maintained.
