Just lately, he has been down with depression and all the staff keep going in and joking with him and make him laugh.
What a lovely group work there and care and many thanks to them all, Muriel.
Thank you so much for your kind words, they mean so much to us here at Abberton. It's wonderful to know that you're happy with the service and care we provide. It's a privilege to care for J.
The food is excellent and the residents are asked to suggest ideas for the menu. Meals can be eaten in a small comfortable dining room. There's a wide range of activities such as crafting, exercises, gardening, and performances by choirs and musicians.
Abberton Manor is set in beautiful grounds and activities often take place under the gazebos. It really is home from home.
Thank you so much for your kind words, they are truly appreciated. It's a pleasure looking after your dad, and I'm so glad we're meeting your expectations. Thank you.
I could not recomend this carehome highly enough. My father has been a resident for over a year. The staff are delightful and do an amazing job. Food is always freshly prepared and delicious . I have been able to order lunch and eat with dad for a small cost. There are many activities during the week and visits from musicians choirs and more. I didnt think care homes could be like this ! There are lovely grounds to wander in including a walled garden ...my dog is welcome too!
Thank you so much for your review, family and friends are always welcomed, we have such a ranged of activities to suit everyone. It is an absolute pleasure and honor to have your father here with us. Thank you.
The team all work well together and always have time for us when we go in so we feel very involved in our mother's care. They are incredibly supportive.
Activities are tailored to all tastes so all residents feel valued.
Food is very high standard and we often go in to have lunch with mother.
I feel very lucky that mother lives in such a lovely home.
Thank you Jo. It is our pleasure and privilege to care for your Mum, and always lovely to see you and your family.
The staff at the home were also always ready to help us too, the family and to take time to talk to us. We found the whole atmosphere relaxed and friendly.
Thank you for your kind words. Your sister was a remarkable lady and It was an absolute honour to have known and cared for her.
My brother has been a resident full time for the previous 7 months, having received earlier intermittent respite care. I have been impressed by the care provided by all the staff at Abberton Manor, which is professional, prompt, and above all, kind and thoughtful. My brother has multiple needs, both physical and mental, and at times can present challenges, but he is treated with patience, in a friendly, cheerful and open environment. Family members are always warmly welcomed and encouraged to participate in the life of the manor, as well as being kept up to date on care issues in a timely manner.
It is our pleasure and privilege to care for your brother. Thank you for your review. We appreciate you taking the time to submit it.
Husband spent nearly 3 weeks at Abberton Manor before he passed away - The staff were so lovely with their care and empathy, couldn't have wished for a better nursing home for my husband. Wonderful care, gracious surroundings and care that actually cared for the well being of their residents - made so much difference to my life and to my husbands.

Staff very good.Any minor problem efficiently and effectively dealt with.
She was comfortable and settled there.
THANK YOU ALL
My brother has been at the manor for about 3 months and he has settled in completely - this is a testament to the excellent, professional care and that staff genuinely care about the welfare and happiness of the residents. In the background so to speak, the rooms and facilities are very well kept. The meals and food and ample opportunity for residents social interaction if wished. Also in this background is a comforting, lasting hint of the manor and grounds grand past.
My sister was at Abberton Manor from October 2033 to December 2024. During that time the care and consideration given to her was excellent. The nurses and carers went above and beyond to make her feel welcome and comfortable. I would like to thank all of the staff at the home for their kindness to her and to me.
Mum was not well at all at the start of her stay but 3 months on Mum is doing amazing.
All the team are amazing.
A special mention for one member of staff in particular on the entertainment team who my mum loves.
Hi, thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review, it is an honour to be able to care for Mum and we all enjoy seeing you and your family during your visits.
Thank you to everyone at Abberton.
Not only do they provide outstanding care for my wife they are also very comforting to myself. I would highly recommend this home and I am forever grateful for all that they do.
Thank you very much for taking the time to complete a review. I will pass your compliments to the team. It is a pleasure to care for your wife and we look forward to your visits.
I moved here at the end of October 2023 after 28 years in a certain area. My brother lives close by and I asked him and his wife to find me a nursing/care home in their area. After some time and many visits to other places, they decided Abberton Manor fulfilled my exacting requirements, not too many residents, great architecture, rooms with high ceilings and in spring/summer a garden to sit in. It has been an eye-opening experience for me, the staff day and night (nursing, catering) in fact everyone from top to toe has been very caring and attentive at all times. I cannot answer value for money as I have no input for this, my brother deals with all financial matters.
Thank you Pamela for your kind words, we are glad you are enjoying your new home.
Me and my family would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at the Abberton Manor Nursing Home for the truly great care that they gave my brother during his time there before he passed away. We were so very happy with the way we were welcomed when we visited my brother.
Kind regards.
I was worried about my dad spending his last days in a care home but as soon as we got to Abberton Manor Nursing Home, the staff where lovely. The respect and the care he received were beautiful. Couldn't ask for a better place for him to spend his last days and can’t thank the staff enough.
Thank you again.
Abberton Manor Nursing Home is like a home from home where you very quickly sink into the ambience which is like a "warm blanket on a cold day". The bedrooms with bathrooms are so comfortable but the best feature of Abberton Manor, without a doubt, is the staff who I would describe as friendly and caring. Care homes, by their nature, are expensive but Abberton Manor stands "head and shoulders" above the norm. Very well done!
The care and respect my mother has received since arriving at Abberton Manor Nursing Home in June 2023 has been excellent. It is a great relief that her personal care and safety are professionally administered and her psychological welfare is addressed and communicated with me.
Many thanks for your review, we are honoured to care for your mother and are very grateful for your review. Regards.
Abberton Manor Nursing Home is a beautiful care home. The garden areas and bedroom views are breathtaking. We are always greeted with happy staff and made to feel very welcome. I cannot praise and recommend this home enough.
I am also grateful to the staff for their kindness in looking after me too and for all the cups of tea and coffee and the many much-needed hugs.
Walking into Abberton Manor felt like walking into a lovely big family home. It was obviously an amazing place in its heyday, and now the grandeur is a little faded, but somehow that just adds to its warm and comforting feel.
Abberton Manor is a lovely place full of lovely, caring people.

Meet the Team (4)

I have worked in healthcare for 33 years, been a qualified nurse for 13 years and have worked in a senior capacity for the past 7 years. I love making connections with others and making a difference.

I have been in finance and administrative roles for many, many years. Before I joined Abberton, I worked for a national children's charity in Scotland and fully understand the importance of Person Centred Care. I love working with the team at Abberton and supporting our residents and their families, and friends as well.

I started at Abberton Manor in 2017 as a Care Assistant and was promoted to a Team Leader in 2022. At the end of 2023, I was promoted to Head Housekeeper.

Paul has many years of maintenance and site management experience. He is also a highly skilled carpenter and a crucial member of the team.
