I was resident for care at this nursing home following a stroke from March to September 2020. At no time could I fault the treatment I received. It was excellent!

I have been a resident here since the new year of 2019. The staff have always been professional, friendly and helpful. Our kitchen staff works very hard - ensuring that food is prepared in the home - not prepared elsewhere and carried in. Laundry is dealt with quickly and efficiently. With registered nurses always on duty, advice and care are always available. This is far better than I ever imagine a home might be.

Came to see my Grandad for a visit in the garden. Brilliantly organised, the staff were very helpful and brilliant throughout the whole process. Never seen my grandad so happy in such positive homely environment. I would highly recommend Abberton Manor to everyone.

Thank you to all the staff that helped Mum. What with the covid 19 virus and Mum forgetting she had a memory problem, it must have been difficult at times. Special thanks goes to one particular member of staff for her understanding of Alzheimer's. Kind regards.

My father resided at Abberton Manor for just over a year, until he recently passed away. I have nothing by admiration and thanks for all the care my dad received whilst in Abberton Manor. He was looked after with so much compassion and love from all the staff, nothing was too much for them. The whole home had a lovely family feel to it and all were treated with great dignity and respect. I loved the way Abberton Manor had an amazing community feel to it. Often visited by the local school and various other outside organisations. We (the family) were also made to feel so welcome every time we visited - often daily! I would also like this opportunity to thank you and all your staff for the care and attention Dad received from all at Abberton Manor. Although it was a tough year for Dad, we couldn’t have asked for better care. All your staff are amazing and deserve a medal, they were so friendly, caring and compassionate. And made us all feel so welcome as a family when we visited.

My wife spent seven months at Abberton Manor whilst terminally ill with cancer. She was happy and content there, in spite of being bedridden. The staff were very friendly and very caring, she was completely lucid and was able to chat with the staff, several of whom became her friends within the limits of their duties. The food was good and she especially liked that if what was on the menu was not to her liking she could request something else and it would be provided. When she suddenly became very ill and was in her final days her passing was well managed and made to be peaceful and pain-free. I would strongly recommend Abberton Manor.

The staff at Abberton Manor Nursing Home were very friendly and helpful. I was so pleased my father was accepted into the home. My sister and I appreciated their kindness and attention to my father at his time of passing. We had total trust in the staff who helped our father to pass away peacefully.

My brother was admitted to Abberton Manor in February, suffering from terminal cancer. We, as his family, knew that he would not have many weeks of life left, but were grateful that he had a lovely room with a beautiful view. The meals provided were very good too, served and presented very nicely. When his condition worsened, and he became bed-bound, the care my brother received was excellent. All staff were attentive and kind, in fact, I felt that they treated him as they would one of their own family.
The end-of-life care my brother received was very sensitively-administered, and we as his family were shown great compassion too.

Although our experience of Abberton Manor was a short one, we were able to appreciate the professionalism and high level of care from everyone working there, helping to make each resident feel important, and 'at home'. Thank you, everyone!

My Nan was in the care Abberton Manor from October to March. The staff were very kind and welcoming whenever we came to visit Nan. Towards the end of Nan's life, she became very poorly. Abberton Manor did everything they could to make Nan comfortable and supported our family through this difficult time. The care and attention was amazing, I can't thank Abberton and its staff enough for taking care of our Nan for us when we could no longer give the care that my Nan needed.

Longer-serving members of staff making sure new staff to Abberton Manor maintain standards. January has been wet, dull and under threat from visitors colds and viruses. Despite this, the family visitors are unaware of the pressure.
Atmosphere is relaxed and homely. Emphasis is placed on residents welfare, activities including bus trips and 'ladder to the moon.'

Dependency of residents is constantly increasing yet all are treated as highly intelligent individuals.

My mum was a resident at Abberton Manor for a very short while, three weeks. During this time she was treated with the utmost respect and dignity and also with care and compassion.
She was encouraged to be her own person and was able to join in activities and social events. Every member of staff treated my mum and the rest of our family as if we were one of their own family.
Nothing was ever too much trouble.
My mum died on 12th July 2017 and during her last days she was pain-free, comfortable and her nursing needs were met totally.

Thanks so much you are all amazing!!

This nursing home is a breath of fresh air. The staff care for a rather difficult old gentleman and treat him with dignity and good humour.
Visitors are made most welcome and are encouraged to join in the activities where possible.
There are few rules, dog visitors are welcome and it is by far the most pleasant care home I have come across.

Help and financial advice have been forthcoming and I have no hesitation in recommending Abberton Manor highly.

My mother lived at Abberton Manor for the last eight weeks of her life. The care she received was excellent and responded to her changing needs as her health declined. She was consistently treated with respect, kindness and sensitivity to her individual needs. Abberton Manor is a beautiful building in lovely grounds. It has a very welcoming and homely atmosphere created by the lovely staff team who always find time to chat with both residents and visitors. The food is good and the activities programme is varied and imaginative, taking into account the preferences of residents. It was a huge relief for me and my family to know that mum was being so well looked after in the final weeks of her life. The nursing staff always kept me informed about what was happening and I felt well supported and involved in mum's care at all times. I would have no hesitation in recommending Abberton Manor to anyone looking for a nursing home in the Colchester area.
