Newstead House is a home split into three households with both residential and nursing care. Staff focus on providing a warm welcoming environment, along with a high degree of professionalism as evidenced by their Gold Standard Award in palliative care, and one of their nurses being awarded in 2023 the palliative nurse of the year in the Great British Care Awards.

Nursing and care teams, led by an experienced home manager, work together to ensure residents lead a better quality of life by receiving high levels of care, stimulation and social interaction which improves their health and overall wellbeing.

The home has a number of lounges and dining areas and a coffee lounge, where residents enjoy time with friends and family, along with a secluded garden, which won an award in 2018 with Herefordshire in Bloom. It has close links with the local community and being so close to the centre of Hereford means residents can enjoy regular trips to the shops and other attractions.

The quality of the establishment is only excelled by the quality of the outstanding staff. Caring, communicative, and dedicated. I cannot envisage any better end of life experience.

Difficult to find words to describe the home. The standards in all departments are of course excellent but it is that little extra that makes such a huge difference. Seeing the staff in action you realise that extra something is invariably there, it is many many small ways that the staff show their
concern for their resident in a manner that seems completely natural to them. I do find it very difficult to highlight specifics because all aspects of Newstead must and do function as a unit and in doing so achieve their aim to provide a home for residents and long may that continue. Hats off to all Newstead staff.

I have visited a number of care homes over the years, in connection with finding a home for a close relative.
Out of many, I visited, I chose three which were all of an excellent standard in all aspects. So no complaints with them.
However, Newstead House is far superior to all others I had seen.

Personal view of care provider very positive. Both for residential and nursing provision. Senior and assistant nursing staff always friendly, polite and cooperative. Entertainment and activities organised weekly, also Summer Garden Fete in July and Christmas Carol Services in December. Very grateful
for palliative nursing care on behalf of my aunt who died (aged 101) on 9th January 2020.

I have been a volunteer at Newstead House for a number of months now. It is a lovely home with friendly and professional staff.
It does not feel like a care home and it has a lovely atmosphere, very calm and peaceful. The residents are well cared for, and there is a lot of fun and laughter in the
home. The home is well maintained, with some lovely communal spaces. I really enjoy my time at the home and look forward to visiting each week.

Since my next of kin was brought in on respite care, it has given myself and the family great peace of mind and also he is receiving the very best care he deserves which he was not receiving in the community. When I visit, the staff make me feel so welcome. It is very pleasing to know my mum-in-law is in such a lovely warm and friendly place. She has told me the food is very good. My father-in-law was a resident here too for a while and he enjoyed his stay, being waited on and the company. He also enjoyed
walking around the garden.

My mum was admitted after a long struggle with dementia, a very independent, private lady who fought against going into care, but medical conditions proved we had no choice but choose a suitable home for her.
Newstead was chosen and from the beginning mum settled in, the staff gaining her trust and
respect. She ended her last months with us a contented lady who was looked after by a wonderful team.
The home is absolutely spotless, a lovely room with a view, set out on a long corridor which meant there was always somebody passing usually waving or checking people were ok, we always felt that if there was a problem someone would be at hand straight away. A great comfort after spending many years worrying if everything was ok with mum.
I have no idea how we would have managed without Newstead, their care for mum and us was outstanding, I can’t thank them enough. They truly are a wonderful team of nursing and caring people.

Dad has been at Newstead for over 2 years now and I have no complaints regarding his care. He's treated with dignity and respect. The staff are always friendly and helpful. His room is always clean and tidy and most importantly Dad is happy there (well as happy as he'd ever be in any nursing home!)

I have a very dear friend living at Newstead and visit her several times a week, she is happy there and well looked after. The staff are always pleasant and willing to help and always make me feel welcome. I often have a meal there with my friend and find the food very acceptable.

Very smooth transition from my grandmothers home to Newstead. Staff are incredibly supportive and keep me well informed of my grandmothers health and needs. The deputy manage is simply wonderful and has been a great help and comfort to me during this transition. She is simply unbelievable at her job
and I have total peace of mind that my grandmother is being well cared for and safe in there trust.

Newstead House, what can I say! This home is "home from home", full of cheerfulness, passion and kindness. My Mum has Alzheimer's and has been a resident for over 2 years and Dad the same tup until March 2019, when he sadly passed away. They are professional. They keep you updated all the time and contact
me with any changes/concerns they have. My Dad's end of life care was exceptional. They were above and beyond and my rock too. They got me through a heartbreaking time. During this time, when I arrived, there would be a member of staff, chatting and comforting Dad. My Mum is always immaculate. Her personal hygiene care is exceptional always looks comfortable, in her bed or chair. Finally, if you are looking for reassurance of high standard, medical and care support, I recommend Newstead.
