View Full Details of Galanos HouseGalanos House is absolutely brilliant in every way when caring for my wife. Everybody dedicated in proving the right care. The home overall is wonderful and facilities first class. The area for walking and fish pond provided a welcome distraction. The community hub for food drink marvellous.
My mum is on Nursing at Galanos. She receives excellent care from the whole staff team who are also very welcoming to us as her family. We were able to enjoy a lovely birthday celebration with mum though the standard of consideration is not reserved just for special occasions. I am particularly impressed by the open, receptive way that staff respond to concerns and questions which fits with the values of the care home. I also really appreciate the attention paid by staff to the small but crucial acts of personal care
Overall the experience at Galanos house has been outstanding. They work hard to achieve a safe and familiar environment for the residents. Visitors are welcomed and know exactly where the resident is, or find out immediately where they are. Visitors feel they are part of an extended family. The staff are helpful and considerate and Nothing is too much trouble .
If there are any issues they are minor and very quickly resolved. The staff are professional whilst at the same time friendly and approachable. The volunteers are absolutely wonderful, kind-hearted people. The accommodation is superb, each room reflects its residents character and each one is very personal. There are regular outings for those willing and able and plenty of 'indoors' entertainment. There's always a sense of well-being.
Fantastic staff and volunteers. Lots of activities arranged daily. Individual needs addressed at all times. Great food, and choices for those with specific tastes/needs. I have highest regard for this facility.
My father has been living in the residential wing at Galanos for almost three years, and I'm extremely happy with the care he receives. He enjoys and actively participates in many of the activities on offer and even contributes to life at the home in his own way. To him, Galanos feels like one big family-from the management team to the care staff and fellow residents-and he has received meaningful support from that family in many different ways. I am deeply grateful for the support from the staff in looking after him - thank you very much.
Thank you for making Dad's first impressions so positive! I was so impressed that, having dropped his TV off at Reception at around 10am, that it was already PAT tested and set up to work in his room by the time he arrived, 2 hours later. Similarly, he mentioned he had been overwhelmed by how he was received when he arrived.
Galanos House is.amazing, I can not fault it in anyway, I would go as far to say it has saved my husband's life as well as my own, everyone from nursing staff to carers to everyone who works there and of course the volunteers do the most amazing job, I am so grateful to all of them.
The experience I've had since my Father arrived at Galanos has been the best I could've wished for. From the management through to the nurses , care staff , activities team, maintenence & cleaners . They are all amazing . Nothing is too much trouble . They make my Father comfortable and well cared for and myself when visiting very welcome. Overall this is an outstanding care home.
It's all about exceptional people who really care about exceptional residents And dedicate themselves to making live truly golden for mum and every resident I hope I will be lucky enough to end up here when I can't manage alone Thank you
Ever since my mum arrived at Galanos in August 2024 the staff have been amazing and to this day they continue to be amazing and do a great job looking after everyone in the care home. I really can't thank them enough for everything they do and have done for my mum. My Father was also a resident at Galanos in 2018 and I am very grateful for all the love care and the support of the staff and management. I must also say about the volunteerers they do a fantastic job as well and deserve a lot of praise for giving up there time to help others. My mum is well looked after and treated so well by everyone. Every chance we get we all should try and donate something to this wonderful care home. Thank you very much to everyone that makes Galanos house very special for my mum and I know that my mum is truly grateful and appreciates everything that every member of staff, management and volunteerers do for her. So a masssive thank you from my heart to you all.
My mother was a resident at Galanos House for more than nine years. Mum lived in Poppy Lodge for the first seven years of her stay, and on the nursing wing for the last two years. My mother recently passed away peacefully at Galanos House at the age of 90 after having lived with the effects of Alzheimer's for round 15 years. The level of care that my mother received consistently over her nine years at Galanos can only be described as outstanding. Without exception, the staff were patient, kind, caring and professional in all of the aspects you could wish for. There were many staff that had looked after Mum over the nine years, and too many to be able to thank when Mum passed away. Mum gained peace, security, happy times and kindness but - most of all - care and love too from the team at Galanos. My sister and I could not be more thankful for the way our Mum was cared for at Galanos and we believe Mum would have agreed.
Galanos House and Poppy Lodge where my mum is looked after provide excellent care. Everyone is kid and approachable and look after the whole family. Mum feel safe and glad she is well looked after and can see me on a regular basis. Galanos House is kind, caring and clean, thanks to the wonderful staff and volunteers.
Galanos House is a bit special in my opinion. The culture in any organisation is key and Galanos appears to have one that is very caring both to residents and to staff. It appears to lead to low turnover of staff which is key in any organisation but particularly so in a care home. And I believe a lot of how an organisation performs reflects what comes from the top. Going into a care home can never be easy but I have no worries about my mother in law at Galanos - she is really well cared for and it shows. It was the same for my late father in law too. I have experience of a relative in another care home and it's like chalk and cheese!
Making the decision to move a family member to a care home is always difficult but I cannot speak more positively about our Galanos House experience so far. My dad came to Galanos House for a short stay but has recently made the decision to become permanent. Every member of staff is kind, welcoming and cares for Dad to an exceptionally high standard. Thank you to all involved.
The fact that the carers and nurses and all staff at Galanos House really do care shows massively. They have made my father's life liveable again. The team are really supportive and does their very best to help. The activities that the team run for residents are great and help to keep my father entertained and involved, much more than other care homes have done in the past.
Fantastic and attentive care of my father, fully supportive and also kind and engaging. From name places at the dinner table, seemingly endless tea coffee and biscuits, to services like taking him to the dentist or meeting all medical needs, the Galanos team are really amazing.
I can't fault the care my brother-in-law is receiving at Poppy Lodge, all of the staff are lovely, friendly and caring. Nothing is ever too much trouble, they always have time to chat and are so patient. His mobility has improved enormously because he's encouraged to get up and get involved, rather than being left to just sit in his chair. He's also put on a bit of weight and always looks clean and tidy now, not something that happened when he was living on his own. Although he didn't want to go into a home he now says he wishes he'd come to Galanos House ages ago, you can't say better than that.
Overall, Galanos provides the best possible care for my father. Care staff are excellent, and there is a wide range of activities to keep him entertained, including trips out to the theatre, garden centres and local attractions.
My wife continues to receive the best of care and attention. The positive and welcoming nature of all the staff makes life for her the best it can be in the circumstances she is now in. She is beautifully turned out each day and despite severe disability is encouraged to partake in activities. She thoroughly enjoys her very well-prepared food and is well-supplied with drinks throughout the day. One has an overall impression of a staff who enjoy their work which is infectious overall.
