Mum is on Irwell Unit & has been there for 3 years. Both me and my sister find the staff very approachable & willing to listen if we have any concerns. Mum is well cared for both with cleanliness & nutrition. I can't comment on facilities & activities as mum is bedbound and we aren't there at
mealtimes but mum is obviously eating okay.

There is a very clear lack of funding within the home. This is visual with the staffing levels, the upkeep of the home, activities on offer, training standards and happiness of the residents. Staff lack clear understanding of residents, especially those who have a diagnosis of dementia or other lack
of mental capacity. Activities on offer are the choice of the home and not the residents. The involvement for everybody is very limited.
The rooms of the residents are very outdated and non person centred. The home is very institutionlised. The residents day to day routine is fit around the hours the staff work of the rota system. Most residents will be in bed before 7pm, where this might not always be there choice at heart.
There have been many meetings held in the time my family members has been within the homes care. Not much gets done after these meetings and the home manager doesn't even take minutes via laptop/paper of the meetings to action what has been reported or are concerns.

Carers on Brindley are very good but not enough time available to be able to provide shower & hair washing at least weekly have to continue to ask for Mum's hair to be washed when its gone over a week. Lunch time meals are continuing to deteriorate, having to provide other food or else Mum would
have nothing to eat this is extra cost

My mum seems very settled here, and I love that she is less angry than at her previous care home. I really am grateful to the staff in Moss house. They do a great job. My issue would be the activities seem non existant, and there is no real one to one session eventhough the boards state its daily
and I know the staff are frustrated that they dont get time to spend with the residents 121
Also Ive been waiting 6 months for my mums door to be fixed/replaced.

I can only speak for Moss Dementia Unit. I have nothing but praise for Moss. The manager Blessing is incredible. He has improved the unit 200%. Kind caring and REALLY cares. Xavier the new assitant manager is amazing he is brilliant with his residents and relatives but his medical knowledge is
incredible. The carers on the ward are THE BEST!! I cannot praise or thank they enough. The laundry and domestic staff are such caring people and they too bring a great deal of happiness to Moss. More than anything I trust them all 100% with my husband Brian.

As a friend of one of the residents at Barton Brooke Care Home, I've had the pleasure of visiting regularly-and I can honestly say it's a truly special place. The home has a lovely, welcoming atmosphere and offers an impressive range of activities that bring joy and stimulation to the residents'
day-to-day lives.
One of the standout features is the on-site café, which feels just like a high-street café you'd visit outside-it's a fantastic touch that brings a real sense of normality and comfort. The carers are not only incredibly attentive but also genuinely involved. They don't just provide care; they participate in activities and really connect with the residents, treating them with dignity, warmth, and respect.
It's clear that Barton Brooke isn't just a care home-it's a true home from home. The dedication and kindness of the staff shine through in every visit, and it gives me great peace of mind to know my friend is in such good hands.

My dad arrived at this place on August 29th 2024. In the short time he was there he had 11 falls, pushed to the ground twice with injuries, lost 1/2 stone in weight, he was a very slim man. Went missing twice, staff unaware of his whereabouts, sat with a blanket over him with vomit and no socks on,
he was freezing. Cup of tea in his room green moldy. Caught an infection, his bed was broken, my husband had to fix it. Caught another infection which lead to Sepsis. He was rushed to hospital where he stayed one week later, we were told he is now on End of Life care. Me and my husband called to this place to complain to the manager. Her response, half of these incidents were not brought to her attention. Well you all should be ashamed and embarrassed that this has happened under your watch. After being closed down once and investigated by a consumer investigating programme this needs checking again. CQC report Care, Needs improvements. Safety, Needs improvement. My dad passed away on 13th December 2024.

The staff have been extremely helpful and supportive at a difficult time for the family and work tirelessly to make sure families are kept up to date with any changes that occur. The garden cafe area is a lovely place to sit and chat when the unit is busy, there is nothing which is too much trouble
for the team working with families. A huge thank you to everyone at Barton Brook Care Home, from management, carers, entertainment, office, maintenance, laundry, cleaners and kitchen, you are all amazing.

When I first arrived on Irwell, the manager was so nice to me and bent over backwards to help me out for all my needs. She gave me an excellent room with patio doors and patio. She got me sculptures of cats and chickens. She really helped me out. Not only that, she works really hard to make Irwell a
happy environment. All the staff on Irwell are really nice, decent and will help you out with anything you need. Irwell is the best unit by far. It has the best manager and staff by far. I feel lucky to be on this unit. All the staff are fantastic and wonderful and that's a fact.
