Attending to my parents' family home after the recent passing of my dear mum, it has taken until now to write a review of the marvellous nursing care she received throughout the last 5 months of her life in the safe and caring hands of all the staff at Nazareth House, Birkenhead. It is not a decision to make lightly when accepting that a family member will be safer in full time residential care. A recent diagnosis of late onset Dementia, with a rapid deterioration in all aspects of my mum's health meant that remaining in the family home (albeit with support from a care agency in the absence of family who all live over 100 miles away) was unsustainable and unsafe. Mum entered Nazareth House in August, settling into a lovely airy room with furnishings from home and weekly family visits. The staff cared for her every need. I was consulted and kept informed daily over the phone in between visits. She received the best possible care, aware of her surroundings until dementia really took a grip.
Our dear sister lived at Nazareth House for 13 months and went to God in May. The care and compassion that she experienced was just exemplary, she was looked after in every way as if she was one of their own family and the respectful kindness of every single person who cared for her was outstanding. Nazareth House isn't just a care home, it's more like an extended family home where every person is respected and loved. We will be forever grateful that we found such a wonderful home for our sisters last months and cannot recommend highly enough the commitment of everyone there to making sure that the residents feel loved, cared for and respected. As a family we were welcomed so that it was a home from home for both my sister and our family. Thank you to all.
The care given to my sister-in-law at Nazareth House Care Home, Birkenhead is just amazing. If she could not be cared for at home, this is as near to home as you could wish for. The staff are so welcoming. They treat residents as family. I have been involved for five years and have no complaints and would recommend Nazareth House, Birkenhead.
The staff are so caring, not only to my dad but to our family. Every member of staff was attentive, they looked after all of us. They were so thoughtful. I couldn't have asked for anything more. They genuinely care.
I brought my elderly friend for a 2-week rest after she experienced some health issues. We were both treated well on arrival and shown all the facilities and her room. My friend has been suffering with some anxiety and depression and had lost her appetite. After a few days I noticed an improvement in her mood and staff reported that she was eating well. All staff knew her name and she reported that everyone was so kind to her and treated her with dignity. Each time I visit there is an offer of a drink ( and biscuit). My friend loves going to mass each day and likes all the afternoon activities that are available. There is always someone to discuss her progress either face to face or on the phone - nothing is too much trouble. My friend has felt so at home that she has decided to stay long term and all her friends are delighted as they feel she is so well looked after at Nazareth House.
Looking for a care home for a loved one is a stressful time. However, once we found Nazareth House, we knew that we had found the right home for our dad. From the initial look round with the general manager, to our regular visits to see our dad, all the staff are very welcoming and caring. Our dad has settled well into Nazareth House. He is beginning to join in with the activities programme on offer and enjoys the nutritious meals provided. We are very grateful to the hard-working staff for taking great care of our dad and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nazareth House.
As usual - all friendly, caring staff. Excellent facilities. Very happy with the support and kindness.
Dad felt very welcomed and cared for at Nazareth House. Staff clearly see their role as a vocation rather than just a job. They helped family rest assured at the fantastic care Dad received. Can't recommend Nazareth House more highly. Superb.
My brother and I are deeply grateful for the wonderful care our mother received at Nazareth House during the last months of her life. The love and care of all the staff was exceptional at all times and this gave Mum a very dignified and peaceful time as he life came to an end. All the stff showed such care to my brother and me too which was so appreciated at a very sad time in our lives. We will always be grateful for you loving care. Huge thanks.
Nazareth House is a wonderful, caring, warm place with the most wonderful kind team of people. I cannot speak highly enough of them. From my mum’s arrival in October, for what was potentially going to be just a temporary respite stay, through to the peaceful end to her life after about 6 months in Nazareth House, she was cared for in the truest sense of that word. Far more than just being looked after, she was surrounded by love, warmth and compassion for her as an individual. Helping her get to Mass in the Chapel when she was able meant a great deal to her. What’s more, we as a family always felt welcomed at Nazareth House. Little touches like knowing our names, coming and talking to us about how Mum is, bringing another chair and offering us a cup of tea – they may seem small, but make a world of difference when visiting regularly, especially towards the end of life.
We as a family are really pleased with the choice of Nazareth House Birkenhead for the care of our Mum. We couldn't ask for better. The staff are all very caring and kind. The food is good and the home is very clean. There is always something going on for the residents to enjoy.
If you're looking at reviews for nursing homes then it is probably because someone you love needs care. This happened quite quickly for Mum, as it does for many. With the best will in the world, it is just impossible to stay at home. Nazareth House was a brilliant next step for Mum. I felt such a sense of relief when the staff came to see her at home and said that they could help her. Her room at Nazareth House was beautiful; clean, bright and well-equipped (as is the whole home). Speaking as someone in healthcare, I was extremely happy with all of the care and attention that Mum had. Communication was excellent; everyone was friendly and approachable. I do mean everyone: so many people went 'above and beyond'. Whatever Mum wanted was provided. There was so much more to her stay than that, though. They really saw her as a whole person. She was loved. She was so happy to go to Mass and speak to people daily. It is truly a place to be happy and create memories. Thank you.
Nazareth House staff looked after my dad very well. They were excellent in their nursing/caring skills and their attitude - they were friendly and approachable; whatever we needed for Dad they provided; we couldn’t have asked for better care. The home itself is clean and bright.
From our very first interaction with staff as a family we were supremely confident that our mum was in the absolute best place. All facilities communication and procedures are exceptional as you would expect for your loved one. But there is much more to Nazareth House, the attendance at daily mass was so important to Mum and something that she had missed. Staff knowing this about Mum and facilitating this time for prayer is just one example of the exceptional level of care we experienced during Mum's short stay. We had our mum back for those few precious weeks. We were all made to feel as part of the Nazareth House family, always welcomed, offered refreshments and involved in conversations that showed just how well staff knew Mum. Due to distance my visits were long. I was always welcomed and never once made to feel in the way. I really felt that I was visiting Mum at her home. She was so happy with the spiritual pastoral and social aspects, she viewed Nazareth House as her home and we are all so grateful for this.
Since the new manager has arrived I have noticed a great improvement. The home has a much more warm and welcoming feel to it. The staff (most of them) treat the residents with love and respect and their welfare is very well supported. I am very happy that my mum is there and very happy with the care she receives.
I certainly would recommend Nazareth House to anyone, in the time my mother has been a resident (16 months) she has been treated with respect and has been cared for excellently at all times. I always get offered tea or coffee on arrival which is four or five times a week.
