View Full Details of Westhaven Nursing & Residential HomeMy two elderly friends knew Westhaven as they had a relative living there, and were impressed by the home whenever they visited her. In time when they became more infirm they were happy to move in themselves. As a friend I saw how well looked after they were and how pleased to be in such a kind, happy and well run place they were. There is a lovely, interested, hardworking group of cares who could not do more for the residents than they do.
I felt very relieved and grateful towards all the staff at Westhaven because I felt that I was leaving my sister in good, kind, hands during the final weeks of her life. They could not have been more caring and attentive towards her and they also allowed me to keep in touch with both my sister and themselves knowing I lived a long way away and could not visit very often.
My auntie sadly passed away in the home last week and was cared for wonderfully by all the staff at Westhaven. I heartedly recommend Westhaven for anyone or their loved ones. We, as a family were touched by their kind, thoughtful and professional manner.
Not being familiar with the care system until my mother was really incapacitated and required nursing care from hospital I was upset anxious and didn't know what to expect. However my thoughts were put at ease here at West Haven. Not only did she receive excellent care and dignity, but they became my family in there I cannot express my gratitude enough. They looked after me.
Excellent care. Staff friendly and helpful to the family as well as the resident. Relative is clean and tidy and the staff have done well getting her to leave her room for meals and the communal room. Meals smell delicious! Premises are spotlessly clean. Management and admin also lovely. Very happy.
Mum fell and broke her arm and we initially thought she could cope at home. Sadly that was not possible and we contacted Westhaven to see if mum could come to them for respite. The response from the Manager and the team was proactive and caring, and she went the next day and has been with them for 9 weeks. The care and support have been excellent, especially as I live many miles away and know mum was safe and well looked after gave me great peace of mind. The facilities are very good apart from the WIFI, and the rooms got very warm during the recent glorious weather! The range of activities provided was wide and mum thoroughly enjoyed them. Mum has improved and has now gone home but Westhaven is the place she would like to return to if she needed extra support in the future.
Treated with friendliness and respect by all staff. My husband found most staff to be caring and friendly. However, a few members did not appear to show as much patience and kind demeanour as others. On the whole, they treated him with warmth and friendliness as they did myself. He was given a choice of meals and enjoyed them.
The care, love and support shown to both our mum and family was exceptional. We can not thank you all enough.
My sister moved from another setting to Westhaven in March 2024. I wish she had moved sooner. Although her needs were complex, they always listened to our suggestions and all staff (managers, nurses, care staff, hostess team and admin and maintenance staff) did their very best to befriend my sister and help her settle and be comfortable. Their care, clinical acumen and compassion were always present, timely and never withheld. My lovely sister was safe in their care. Thank you all.
Visited Westhaven for a birthday celebration and was struck by how clean the home was, with a nice friendly atmosphere. It was also very inclusive, with residents being well looked after.
As a regular visitor to Westhaven, I was initially impressed with the security and cleanliness. I have on several occasions stayed for lunch which I found adequate and tasty. I find most of the staff extremely helpful and attentive which reassures me when leaving my dear friend. Well done Westhaven.
The management are excellent! They have done everything in their power to make my husband and I welcome at this very uncertain, unsettling and sad time. They've gone above and beyond to meet all of my husband's needs and have also been a big comfort to me when I needed them.
Great facility, great staff, very caring approach. The team always goes the extra mile and looks after my Dad and considers the full family and others and how they can interact. He is treated with respect and dignity.
On arrival staff are always polite and helpful. My aunts room is always clean and she always state that she feels safe. When needing medical attention it is always priority given. My aunt enjoys the activities in the lounge. If she is well enough. All in all a very efficiently run care home, with professional staff and a high standard of care.
My experience being at Westhaven Nursing Home for my mum is very good, very homely and caring staff are excellent, all the management go up and beyond to help and I would recommend this nursing home to anyone.
I feel very confident thar my mum is cared for 24/7 with care and dignity, with a laugh along the way. The staff are excellent and work very hard. Sometimes they need an extra person available to watch in the lounge. Thank you everyone.
Westhaven is an amazing place. My mum is so well looked after. The staff are amazing.
My mother was a resident for 3 1/2 years at Westhaven until she passed away in November 2024. The staff were most kind and friendly and were very professional and attentive in the care they provided. Nothing was too much trouble and they were most responsive to her needs. My Mother was for the majority of her stay in good humour and she was known for having a good laugh or joke with the staff. Latterly with her failing health the staff helped her retain her dignity (as much as possible). I (and family and friends) were always made to feel welcome in either taking her out for the day or just visiting in her room. I would have no hesitation in recommending Westhaven.
My friend was a resident at Westhaven for 6 years until she passed away in October 2024. She was extremely well cared for throughout this time. Everything was always immaculately clean, including her clothing, her bedding and her room. It was good to see some of the same faces throughout her stay, meaning that not only was there continuity of care for my friend, but she got to see the same faces and got to know the people looking after her. On those occasions when my friend needed to be reviewed by a doctor, Westhaven always ensured that this was done promptly. In the final days leading to my friend's passing, Westhaven ensured that someone was sitting with her at all times, which was very moving. It is easy to see why Westhaven have won awards for the standard of care they provide.
We are extremely thankful for the care and kindness Dad received in his final few months. All the staff were incredibly professional and hard-working and made Dad as comfortable as possible. We will be forever grateful.
