View Full Details of Woodheath Nursing & Residential HomeAs a pharmacist, I had provided medication reviews for Wirral care homes over 20 years ago and Woodheath was my favourite. When the time came for Mum to need extra care I looked at Woodheath and 2 others. Without a doubt this was still the best. Mum was looked after with kindness and her dignity was maintained at all times. She chatted to all the staff and I always knew I had made the right choice. Sadly she passed away recently but that was kind, gentle and peaceful too. I would not hesitate to recommend this care home and have said this to many people already.
All staff at Apple House were caring, compassionate and professional when caring for my Mum. They also have a great range of activities for the residents to participate in, including day trips out, which my Mum loved. They treated her with care, dignity and respect. Thank you
We chose Woodheath to care for my Dad in the last few weeks of his life, as our Mum had received wonderful care at Woodheath during the last 3 years of her life. Dad was terminally ill. The care he received was exemplary. All of the staff were professional, compassionate, kind and most of all treated Dad with dignity, especially in the last few days of his life. We cannot thank the staff enough for the care that they gave to Dad and also to us as a family.
The care my mother received was exceptional, and I would like to thank the staff publicly for the way they looked after her. Her end-of-life care was also very good; she was looked after with dignity and great care.
I wanted to leave a message to anyone looking for dementia care. My mother was not an easy personality and we worried about how she would settle. In the time she resided at Apple House Woodheath she was treated like one of their family, as was anyone who visited her. They took time with her and showed nothing but patience. It is a fun happy environment with activities to keep the residents engaged and happy. My mother passed away there and in her final days the staff were amazing. Thankfully her final days were as comfortable as could be. As a family we thank all the staff for everything they did.
Mum lived at Woodheath for the last 2 years of her life before she passed away in March 2024. During her time there she was very well looked after and was loved by the staff, just as she loved them. She looked forward to the daily exercise classes as well as various afternoon activities. She especially loved the trips out. Thank you to all at Woodheath for taking such good care of her and for being friendly and welcoming to us each time we visited.
My time visiting Apple House it's a pleasant and welcoming environment with clean and tidy routines, Apple House takes residents on day trips and in-house events are a great help and I'm sure they all love it too. Best wishes to the friendly staff.
The staff were what made Woodheath a special place of care. They don't just care for my mum they love her. I can't ask for more, additionally, they made me feel so welcome always getting me by name.
My wife is just starting her fourth year as a resident of Woodheath's Apple House annex for dementia patients. From the very first, the management and staff have treated her with kindness, understanding and skill. Although she is, inevitably, deteriorating mentally and physically, the wonderful carers have never given up trying to bring some meaning and pleasure to her life. Only a fortnight ago, for instance, they organised an outing by taxi and wheelchair to the local promenade, for fresh air, sea views and a meal out. That initiative came from the staff, not from me, and was typical of their thoughtfulness. In short, I am full of the utmost praise for this excellent care home.
Woodheath Nursing and Residential Home is an excellent home. It has cared lovingly for its residents during the Covid period. It now continues to provide dedicated professional care for the very ill and frail patients of whom our mother is one.
My auntie has resided at Woodheath for over 4 years now and the care and consideration that has been afforded to her has been excellent. She has been well looked after since she had to give up her home when she could no longer look after herself. The activities offered to the residents are varied and well-planned with schedules shown in the reception area. My auntie particularly loves the children and animals coming to visit and the photos that appear on Facebook show her face lighting up with genuine smiles and joy. Woodheath is always clean and tidy when I go and visit and it is a very calm environment to enter. The staff are amazing and I really like the fact that there is always someone there that we know and have known since my auntie went there 4 years ago. Staff seem to like working there and stay which is great for continuity for the residents. There seems to be a very proactive caring management team at the heart of Woodheath which radiates down through the home.
September was my Mum's 80th Birthday month. (Mum has advanced Dementia formerly Alzheimer's disease) Woodheath staff provided the whole family a space to celebrate and share mums "Big" birthday. We were provided with refreshments and on top of us having a cake, the Canteen had made a surprise one for us to share as well. Woodheath feels like a proper home, not a a bedroom for mum. We find the staff always helpful and friendly and enjoy our visits with mum and regularly chat to other residents, I would recommend choosing this lovely home.
We were so reluctant for Mum to go into a care home but I cannot thank Woodheath staff enough for the care they provide to her. They are so very dedicated, friendly and loving and treat all the residents with kindness and respect. They entertain them, and provide activities and days out. They celebrate all of their birthdays with a constant stream of cake and fun. The staff have become Mum's new family and she loves them. This is an outstanding care home with outstanding support for your loved ones. They go the extra mile and I am eternally grateful to all of them.
The care and attention given to my husband in the last two months he was in care were excellent.
The standard of care at Woodheath care home is fantastic, and the staff are simply wonderful. My mum is happy there. Mum's clothes and bedding are always clean to a high standard. The staff really do have an interest in the residents. They laugh and joke with my mum to keep her in good spirits.
I have spent many hours researching care homes on and around The Wirral. Many have similar facilities, regardless of price. What is actually important is the competence and attitude of the staff. Following a recommendation from friends, I placed my mother at Woodheath last year and have been very pleased with how well she has been cared for and how well she has settled in.
My husband and I wanted to take the opportunity to express our thanks to all of the staff at Woodheath. My mother is 95 and, sadly, now in need of professional care. Despite having limited English, the staff have been able to communicate with her by using picture cards and by having learned a number of Cantonese words. Every time we have visited, she is clean, well dressed and more importantly, well loved. She especially likes having her nails painted and is enjoying her meals! Asked if there were any issues with her care or any members of staff, she replied "no - they are all wonderful". We have lived in the USA for 18 years now and have found it difficult to see how her age and ailments have slowly taken their toll. It is however of huge comfort to us that she is being looked after by such a compassionate and caring group of professionals. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Very good care. Excellent all round help.
I feel so reassured that I've found a second home for my wife with exceptional staff who are professional, caring and always can't do enough for you. I confirm below on behalf of my wife and myself. Thank you.
My mum has been in this home for over 18 months, as a family, we have been very happy with the care she has received. Even in the difficult Covid times, the staff have done everything they could to keep her safe and us informed.
