View Full Details of New Springfield Care HomeMy Mother has been a resident of the care homes Dementia Unit since 2019. The care home is looking brighter and refreshed since becoming New Springfield ( formerly Springfield ) but most importantly as her Alzheimer's has progressed the quality of her care has remained high. Recently after consulting me the care home moved her to a room closer to the office, the staff felt that as her condition was deteriorating and she had lost mobility it would be easier to keep a close eye on her if she was nearer the office, this was a great comfort to myself and I felt happier knowing care was closer to hand should she need it as her Alzheimer's progresses.
I was dreading having to put my mum into a care home but as a family we all decided it was the right the time. My mum has dementia and is non verbal so this was worrying knowing she couldn't communicate with anyone. She went in November 24 and I can honestly say she is doing amazing. I go to see her every week and every time she's always clean, dressed, happy and content. She's made her own little family in there. They take mum out on day trips and show me photographs what she's been up too which is really lovely to see as she didn't like leaving the house for years. The staff are lovely always engaging with her. The care home itself it's very clean which I love. They have recently painted and decorated since mum has been there and it looks so fresh and more up to date now. They have done a great job. Her room is always spotless and hoovered. I would 100% recommend this care home.
overall excellent, the current renovations are looking excellent. the new lift being installed, will be a game changer. staff are attentive to Dads needs, overall he is happy with his surroundings and has made a few friends there.
Night staff need to be reviewed. Not really caring enough for residents. My dad was in hospital for four days after falling out of bed. The floor mat is not in place! All my comments refer to day staff which are excellent. A change of menu would be good at lunchtime.
From the first day of being cared for Mum settled in very quickly which was such a huge relief for me. In addition, her cognitive awareness is healthier compared to when she was living with myself. My only slight concern is she's become a bit less talkative, however, she is talkative with the staff. On the whole, Mum is at ease in her surroundings.
I moved into Springfield Care Home fourteen months ago. I enjoy being here a lot.
I grade you as an excellent nursing home. I could be wrong, but there does not seem to be a brochure/fact sheet specific to what Springfield has to offer in order to advertise your excellence. I believe this is a legally enforceable requirement according to the "accessible information standard" on 1st August 2016. This fact sheet/brochure is a necessary requirement making a client/family to be able to make an informed decision. This information is a guide map to future care at the outset and should proceed with a "care needs assessment"!
My mother has been a resident for over a year and has received excellent care. The staff are very kind and compassionate. My mother's health improved dramatically whilst in Springfield Care Home after leaving the hospital. Also, all the staff have made me and my family welcome during our visits.
Total chaos resulting in many serious issues. The resident was removed due to safety and care issues and is now safe and being looked after properly. Belongings went missing and care was variable depending on the staff that were on duty. The home has deteriorated over the year and is trying to save money but this should not impact on residents. The definition of care and home are not being met.
I have come today to visit my mum, and I think it is excellent. All the staff are nice. I think my mum came to the right place.
I find the staff very friendly, and nothing seems to be any trouble to them. They always friend time to have a conversation with you and keep you informed on how the resident is doing.
Disgusting care home. Most carers seem to operate under the ‘minimum wage, minimum effort’. I’ve heard staff shouting at the dementia residents before, belongings go missing. It stinks, cleanliness is definitely not a priority. Dirty dressings are not changed for over a week, causing infection. One of the staff nurses shouts at relatives, other members of staff and residents because he’s a couple of years away from retirement and really couldn’t care less. Food is terrible, hardly any activities for the residents and to top it all off the heating has been broken for a few weeks now. Do not put your loved ones here!
The overall care from the home is first-class - the carers do a first-class job. The help and support from the medical staff have been brilliant and so much appreciated. The main areas that could be improved on are - general communication - often we don't know what is happening or changes going on. A re=frsh of some of the facilities and room would be good.
My sister was admitted to Springfield for rehab to help get her walking again after a bad fall, but unfortunately, her mental health deteriorated while in hospital, and this was no fault of the home, it just happened to my sister due to anxiety and stress of being away from her home, in my opinion. I find most staff helpful and pleasant to talk to, but feel very miss guided when asking for updates about my sister, which due to Covid rules and visits limited, is very important to me. It appears to me that things are often very unorganised, such as visiting, you can be left waiting at the door for up to 15 minutes then when you get in you can be waiting to see your relative, so often half of your visit time is lost. I can’t comment for the rest of the home, but I find the unit my sister is on very dark, depressing and never smells clean. The room often looks untidy, cluttered and dirty with food left on the floor from meal time that I have cleaned up while visiting.
Just wanted to say thank you to the staff for helping my father settle so well over the last 6-months in a difficult time for everybody. We can tell he is settled, speaks well of the staff and says how good the food is. It reassures us that he is happy and secure and has everything he needs. Thanks to the staff on floor two for answering our questions when asked.
Springfield Care Home is a lovely welcoming and caring environment. All the staff go above and beyond for their family (that's how the residents are thought of "family). Extremely professional and always keep the families informed of their loved ones progress. It's obvious to see all the residents are happy in their home. Lovely food and lots of activities to keep everyone entertained. The professional and approachable management team is a credit to the home and cares greatly about her residents and staff.
I would like to commend all the staff on level 2, the dementia floor, for doing a sterling job looking after my husband, especially the male chap who goes above and beyond his call of duty. The staff's patience and caring nature are second to none through this very difficult time, as I haven't been able to go into the care home properly since my husband moved in, in July 2020 due to Covid19 restrictions. The only critique I would like to make is that I would like the owners to act more swiftly in arranging suitable indoor access (adhering to cover restrictions) for seeing my husband.
Both my mum and dad transferred to Springfield from another care home in the area. My dad had lost the ability to walk and constantly displayed distressing behaviour. On arrival, both mum and dads need where assessed. This resulted in much improvement in mum and dads well-being. Within weeks, they began to gain weight and Dad began to stand and transfer and walk aided. A great improvement could be seen in both their life's. I can't thank the staff on the dementia unit enough, for the support given. Firstly to my mum and dad, and also to myself and my family. This now is my mum and dad's home, and they are being given the care and support that they need and totally deserve to help with this dreadful disease. I would highly recommend Springfield to anyone seeking dementia care for a loved one. Thank you to everyone.
I have found all the staff and management really professional and helpful. As well as really supportive nothing has been to much trouble for them to help me with, I would really recommend this place to family and friends.
On visiting my friend I found the staff to be very friendly and caring, the home was lovely and clean, as reception had just been cleaned it smelt lovely and fresh, as it was Christmas, the reception looked lovely with the lights and Christmas tree. I would certainly recommend anyone to come here, they are cared for very well. I didn't meet the home manager on my visit so can't say how she is, but I was told by staff she is lovely.
