View Full Details of Highstone Mews Care HomeEntering the care of any relative to an outside party is a very responsible decision to make. Turns out, with Highstone Mews, there was no need to worry. I cannot fault the care home in any way. The management and staff were exceptionally attentive and diligent from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble, and any queries we had were dealt with immediately.
I have improved since being here 100%. I am not who I was, but I am as near as I'm ever going to be.
Initially, dad was admitted to Barnsley Hospital, where he stayed for two weeks, but then BH wanted to discharge him. Initially, I was disappointed with my dad being admitted to a Care Home, rather than the Hospice, just because I felt he needed one-to-one end-of-life care. My dad was only in Highstone Mews Care Home for one week, before he sadly passed. I would like to say to the staff at Highstone Mews Care Home, a big thank you to Julia, Emma, Leah, Liam and Cheryl. You did everything possible for my dad and I will be forever grateful. Nothing was too much trouble. My dad's needs were met in every possible way, even down to one of the nurses putting music in my dad's room, whilst he was coming to the end of his life - how thoughtful! When dad passed, two members of staff were with me, and dad, at this difficult time, comforting me, and helping dad at the end of his life. Dad didn't need Hospice care after all, the nurses met my dad's needs in every way possible. Thank you so much.
My father enjoyed his stay, especially the food. His room was nice and kept clean. Even though my father is not a joiner when it comes to activities, there was plenty going on, and he encouraged me to join in. He was well looked after even got his hair cut. Would be happy for him to stay again.
My mum came to Highstone Mews from hospital for a 2 week independent living assessment. After the assessment, it was decided that she needed 24 hours care. We, as a family, were so thankful that the home had a permanent place for her. The care she receives is, as far as we are concerned, second to none. Being at Highstone Mews has made our transition from being carers to Mum being cared for stress free. Mum tells us she is happy and that the carers are really good.
My Mum was a resident at Highstone Mews Care Home for 2 years until she recently passed. The dedication of the staff was exceptional and they genuinely cared for my Mum, and our family, throughout this time. Their support was above and beyond, and their interaction with the residents is everything you would want for your family member, when in care. We cannot thank the staff enough for their hard work, in what must be a very challenging occupation.
Highstone Mews Care Home has surpassed our expectations of a care home. From the first visit, we were impressed by the cleanliness and friendly welcome. Many of the staff are local and this really helps both us and Mum feel at home and settled. It has been nearly two months now and we have not had a single concern with a member of staff, unlike experiences I've heard from friends with family in other care homes. The activities and food are other stand-outs. Mum was barely eating and disengaged, would not cooperate with the hospital OT. Now she is having small, regular meals and her mobility is better than it has been for months. Thank you very much for looking after her so well.
My mother-in-law is staying at Highstone Mews initially for respite, but we as a family hope it will become her permanent home if she is happy and settles there. The staff are amazing very knowledgeable and on the ball with her very complex needs. The place is immaculate and the other residents are friendly. She has had her hair done and is eating well, gaining weight and we are delighted.
Emergency respite for my elderly mum who suffers dementia. The facilities are beautiful and very homely. The staff are amazing and I mean amazing, the two carers are wonderful and so caring and nothing was any trouble. The food is delightful and home-cooked. Very happy with the whole package.
My mum has recently moved into Highstone Mews and I can 110% say that all the staff there are amazing and treat every single resident with the utmost dignity and respect. My mum is settling in very well and has already built some great relationships with staff members and the other residents on Mum's unit. You are all outstanding in what you do. Thank you.
Overall our family have had an excellent relationship, and experience with all the staff at Highstone Mews. The staff are very helpful and you can tell that they really care for the residents. One thing that might be improved might be to make the place a bit more homely perhaps. Overall though, we are very happy Mother has gained weight and seems genuinely very happy there.
Dad has settled in well since being at Highstone. Kept entertained with activities and appeared happy and content. Hygiene standards very good especially with incontinent service users and personal care. Staff very welcoming and accommodating. Good meal options provided daily including refreshments. I feel relaxed knowing my dad is safe and happy here.
My mother-in-law was initially admitted for rehabilitation. She felt so happy and comfortable during this time, that she was prepared to consider permanent care. Permanent care was essential for her at this time. The process of her being found a room and her settling into the care setting was been amazingly smooth. The staff have been kind, efficient and extremely grateful for all their love and support.
I cannot thank the staff for all the care and love shown to my mum and myself, it’s definitely a 5*. Mum was always clean and cared for, food is lovely, staff are always there to help they honestly go above and beyond for the family.
Great staff who take pride in caring for the residents, there is always something going on for them to keep a smile on their faces. Every time I go visit, there is always a member of staff sat in the lounge talking to the residents.
It was very difficult putting my mum into a care home after caring for her myself for 17 years. Highstone Mews exceeded my expectations. My mum is very well cared for and I would highly recommend your home to anyone.
My mum moved into Highstone Mews in May 2023. The staff immediately made my mum feel cared for and relaxed. They take time to work out what is needed for each resident and involve myself and my sister in all aspects of Mum's life in her new home. We dreaded the time when Mum had to leave her home, but Highstone Mews has exceeded our expectations and Mum is thriving. The dementia wing is relatively small, meaning good staff to resident numbers, something we really value. Meals and snacks are served regularly, with a variety of homemade hot lunches being a particular highlight of Mum's day. The cleaning and laundry staff do a brilliant job of keeping the home fresh and clean. All staff have the same priority, the health, comfort and safety of residents.
An extremely friendly home. Staff are professional, friendly and show compassion, they are always happy to answer my questions! Dad is cared for to the highest standard. He enjoys the daily activities. The food is excellent. The home is extremely clean!
My dad spent the last 7 months of his life at Highstone Mews. No matter how many unexpected visits I made, the home was always spotless. It never had a negative odour. The staff were not only brilliant with my dad, looking after his every need, they always made sure me and my family were alright. The food always looked delicious and fresh. I would not hesitate to recommend the home. Having peace of mind knowing your loved one is cared for as good as Dad was meant everything. Thank you.
I am very satisfied with the home we got, the patient is very happy. That makes me very happy. I miss him at home but I know he is very safe and well looked after.
