View Full Details of Water Royd House Nursing HomeAfter the scandal from the state of care homes pre-COVID covid I was very sceptical about my mum being taken out of hospital for end-of-life care. After first visiting Water Royd and subsequently having my mum placed there, my fears were completely dispelled. My mum got the care she deserved during her short time she was there.
Our father was a resident from 19/03/25 to his death on 08/07/25. Throughout that time he received excellent care and was treated with warmth and understanding throughout. During our frequent visits we witnessed the care given to other residents and it was without exception always kind and caring. Thank you to everyone for looking after him so well.
My sister arrived to a lovely welcome from all the staff. I cannot thank them enough for the support they have given us. We have been able to make her bedroom into a familiar environment for her, which has made her settle much better.
My mum went into Water Royd House for palliative care and was in for the last 5 weeks of her life. The care she received was outstanding from beginning to end and I have nothing but praise for the wonderful staff who looked after her. Mum and I were treated with kindness and compassion by everyone and I highly recommend Water Royd House.
My husband was in a hospice 11 weeks. He has terminal stage 4 prostate cancer and parkinsons. I was asked to look for a nursing home. Water Royd House was the third one I looked at. My husband was only there for nine days. The nursing care was excellent. The support and care we received was special from all the staff. We his family were there at the end of his life, most of the day. I thank you so much for all you did at this very sad time. Thank you.
My nanan became bed bound after contracting sepsis in December. Her memory started to fluctuate, and she became very confused. I went to Water Royd, hoping they could help stimulate her. The manager & staff greeted my nanan on arrival, and she was introduced to staff and those living there. The hairdresser was there and offered to wash, cut & blowdry my nanan's hair. She then had lunch with everyone and said she wanted to go back very soon. Thank you everyone. This may become permanent in the near future.

Very friendly and caring staff - mum really was well looked after Excellent service would definitely recommend for all of they do. They are second to none service Beautiful place cannot thank them enough.
For the first time in a long while, I can relax and feel confident that my husband is safe and well cared for. The staff are very friendly and obliging and make the place feel like a home from home. My husband is encouraged to participate in all activities, but never forced to do so. He is not a good mixer and does need that extra encouragement. The standard of care is very good as is the cleanliness of the home in general. A welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
Staff and management are very friendly and welcoming. Staff are very good at keeping us informed. Food is good - variation of meals. Good assortment of varied activities which my family and I often join in with. Rooms are well kept and clean. Mum is well looked after and has her hair done weekly. Sincere thanks to everyone.

Mum has been in Water Royd since June 2024, the care Mum has received from all the staff has been outstanding. Mum has been cared for with kindness, dignity and respect. Moving Mum into permanent care was heartbreaking for all the family, Mum has advanced dementia, she became agitated, frightened and very distressed most of the time, now she has constant reassurance and expert care which means Mum is content and importantly, feels safe. Mum is always lovely and clean, and dressed in matching clothes, clearly Mum's dignity is important to the staff. All the staff are friendly and approachable, they always have time to listen to any concerns, and answer any questions with kindness and care. The laundry and cleaning staff do a great job, and the food is excellent. All the staff talk to Mum with kindness and respect. Water Royd is like a family home, the care is outstanding, we can't say thank you enough for caring for Mum with such care, kindness and compassion.
My uncle was admitted to Water Royd House February 2024. He was very unwell to a point where we thought we were going to lose him. 18/10/2024. My uncle is now due to be going back home, to live independently. The love, care and support he and the family have had while at WRH is amazing and without the fantastic team I do believe he would not be going home and I would have lost an uncle. From the bottom of my heart I thank you all.
Overall good experience.
My husband has been in Water Royd since October 2023 where he received nursing care as he has advanced Alzheimer's. I always wanted to care for him at home, but as his Alzheimer's advanced, I became unable to provide the care he needed. His move into a permanent care home was an extremely difficult time for us both. The care and support we both received then and continue to receive from all the staff is outstanding. Water Royd is very well managed by the manager and deputy manager. The care and support they and all their staff give to residents is excellent. All of their staff are very kind, friendly and very caring. I cannot thank them enough for the outstanding care they give. I highly recommend Water Royd to anyone who wants a first-class, caring and supportive home for their loved ones.
Since coming to Water Royd from a neuro rehabilitation unit my husband has improved immensely. This is due to the commitment of the staff. Who have listened to my concerns regarding his health and have acted accordingly. Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the staff. They always seem to be smiling and are really kind to all the clients on my husband's corridor. The atmosphere in the home is a very happy one. The food is very good and my husband has put weight on since coming here after being underweight. Well done to all the staff.
My mam has been in there since October 2023. She says all the staff are very kind and good to her.
