View Full Details of Northfield Nursing HomeMy Father spent 6 months at Northfield mostly bedbound. I found the staff on the main reception and the desk upstairs to be corteous and helpful when asked. There were times when I had to wait in the corridor whilest they changed soiled clothes and sheets. Most of the time the room was warm and clean, but there were times when there was food on the floor (which felt sticky). The meals themselves were adequate but they were eaten in a constant aroma of urine and faeces. I found the smell overpowering. On several occasions the batteries were missing / changed from the tv remote and clock. I had to provide new batteries as none could be found. My father was left in bed watching the same tv channel for days. Overall my Father's stay was okay, but it could have been much better with a few minor adjustments.
Staff friendly & very caring, always make you feel welcome no matter what time visiting. Always keep in touch with treatment as been given (innoculations & extra medication when needed).
Woefully understaffed. Agency staff have no idea what they're doing. Rooms/building very old and tired - but clean. Residents left for several hours without attention - call button unanswered. Medication and meal times not adhered to. Overall - awful experience. Would not recommend.
The building needs a refurbishment, wooden windows need re varnishing, the carpets need replacing with water proof flooring. The home always smells of urine, short staffed meaning they don't have time to care for people. This is the second floor.
My Dad was admitted into Northfield after a few month's stay in the hospital. Even though he had a good week...he deteriorated rapidly from ongoing long term health issues and unfortunately passed away. The staff were amazing, nothing seemed too much trouble and my Dad was looked after during his short stay. The staff acted professionally tending to my Dad after he passed and helped me and my daughter tremendously. Thank you and can recommend for sure.
Following fast track referral from hospital to a nursing home my uncle could not have been placed any better than he was than at Northfield's . The care, compassion and friendship he received there as his condition worsened from his terminal illness was first class and is something that he nor I will ever forget and will forever by thankful. It is probably unfair of me to single out any staff by name because all of those involved in his day to day care whatever their role played a really important part in making his stay at Northfield's as comfortable and friendly as it was Thank you all
Northfield is a Dreadful place. A dumping ground is the best way to describe the place. My friend was discharged from the Hospital for assessment here, definitely avoid as I can't recommend at all.
My mother was admitted on 24/09/2024 and died on 26/09/2024 (end-of-life care). On admission, every member of staff introduced themselves and nothing was too much trouble. Within that short time, my mother was treated with dignity and respect. On her last day we were also treated accordingly and what we needed to do next was carefully explained.
My aunt received excellent care from everyone involved. They were patient, thoughtful, very kind and professional. I am sure that she had a longer and happier life than she would have in her own home.
My mother wasn't very long at Northlands, she sadly died in September, she was 96 years old, her needs were very demanding but Mum always received good care especially her end-of-life care, I can't thank one staff member in particular enough for the dedicated care she gave to Mum towards the end and the emotional support she gave to me. The communication was excellent from Northlands care staff who always kept me up to date about her condition or any incidents. I shall miss visiting Northlands, I was always received warmly despite their busy schedules.
Had no complaints at all at the care my late father received. All the staff were efficient and friendly. My family and I would like to thank everyone at Northfield for their excellent care.
My mother-in-law moved to Northfield Nursing Home for the last four weeks of her life. The staff on floor two looked after her with love, great care and dignity. They were always attentive to all her needs. When we visited, they were always cheerful, very helpful, pleasant and showed great compassion to all our family. My mother-in-law, who was confined to bed, with no mental capacity, always looked very clean, comfortable and at peace. We would like to thank everyone, including reception, housekeeping and catering for everything they did for us.
The care home provides a safe and professional care for its residents. The food is really good. The staff are caring and friendly. The admin staff are excellent, very organised and helpful. The only thing that could be improved is the amount of activities for the residents. Maybe staff could interact with residents more by playing games or reminiscing more.
There is only 1 word to describe my experience at Northfield is unbelievable. THe staff are amazing, they treated my with utmost dignity and kindness. My time here was pleasurable, the staff communicated politely and with a sense of humour. The food was the best I've tasted in years. The rooms were extremely comfortable and they are kept clean. I will recommend Northfield to my family and friends.
My husband spent eight weeks in the home when he was having an assessment. The home and the staff were warm and welcoming. The cleanliness and food were excellent. The staff were very helpful and caring and built a good rapport with my husband. If the home had been nearer our home we would have been really happy for him to remain there long term. Thanks to all the staff for the very good care they gave him.
I cannot express how wonderful the care my mum received at Northfield in her last two months was. She was transferred from hospital and the difference in atmosphere was immediately noticeable. The quality of care exceeded all the family’s expectations and we will be eternally grateful to all the staff who cared for her so beautifully. She was really comfortable and happy in her surroundings and we could not be more pleased and grateful. Northfield is a bright and happy place, with staff who always went above and beyond to care for our mum. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Thank you to you all for the care and dedication that you have all shown. It has all been greatly appreciated. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending your nursing home.
My mum very sadly passed away in her sleep last month. Everyone at Northfield was caring, supportive and respectful at our extremely difficult time. Mum was treated with love and compassion and laid out 'at peace'. We were also 'walked' through our next steps in the most supportive and caring manner. Thank you so much to all your wonderful staff!
Our family are very happy with the care Mum is receiving in Northfield House. The home is well-run and the staff are very kind and caring. Our only slight concern relates to the furniture layout in Mum's room. The room itself is fine, but the current layout means that Mum is unable to move freely in her powerchair, or gain access to the view from her window. We feel that the bed and furniture could be repositioned into a more user-friendly layout. Overall, we feel that Northfield is very good and we pass on our thanks to the staff and management.
My mum stayed at Northfield for a respite period, the staff are lovely and very caring. I would absolutely recommend Northfield. The rooms are lovely and clean and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I was very apprehensive about putting my Mum in a nursing home, even for a short period but my worries were quickly gone. The staff work tirelessly and are a credit to Northfield. Thank you so much.
