View Full Details of Elmwood Care HomeFather in law has now been at Elmwood for over 6 months. Both him and my mother in law went in together. He has settled into his new home very well and straight away got involved in the daily activities and entertainment. He enjoys the excellent variety of food made by the on-site Chef. They will also provide him meals that are not on that daysmenu if he fancies something else. All the staff are very nice and supportive. The home is well run, clean and in good order. The manager is very good and approachable. My father in law is very happy there.
My mum has been at the Care Home for nearly 2 years. Every member of the Elmwood team is friendly, caring and attentive towards my mum. All staff do their best to ensure the residents feel comfortable and well supported on a daily basis. Any concerns we have, the staff are always willing to listen and take action/advise where possible. My mum is happy at the home and we appreciate everyone working at Elmwood.
Excellent care. Wonderful staff, though I think they could do with more as they are extremely hard pushed to complete all task quickly and sometimes had to wait for the attention because they were so busy.
It is hard to rate considering my friend was only at Elmwood for 10 days before he passed away. However feel I can make the following comments: - The management team were very good and extremely responsive both on admission and during my friend's stay - Care staff were always friendly, approachable and definitely seemed to have his interests at heart, and in particular extremely welcoming on arrival - Food was fine, and the catering staff were flexible to his wishes - soup and ice cream were the main things he wanted to eat - The room was clean and perfectly functional but not very large, so space for hoisting and wheelchair movement was a little restrictive Location is great, close to shops and Roundhay Park, although sadly he was never well enough to get out. Overall a brief but positive experience, and would happily recommend Elmwood as a small friendly care home.
Arrived at 13:40 lunch was running late and my sister was in her room, she presented as very agitated and delirious. Alerted a member of staff who said it was normal behaviour for her (I visit monthly and have never seen her like this). I raised the issue of whether it could be a water infection but this was dismissed. No tea was brought around in the two hours I was present. Due to my sister's stroke and dementia, she sleeps for long periods but I feel she needs more encouragement to drink in order to prevent her from becoming dehydrated.
My mother has been very happy at Elmwood. She is very well looked after. The staff are happy, caring and very reassuring. It seems to be a happy place to work.
Very happy with Elmwood Care Home and its staff for my 103-year-old mother who has been in this care home and also receiving nursing care since March 2023.
My wife became resident at Elmwood Care Home since 23rd January 2023, I was extremely apprehensive about her admission. Gradually I learned that my fears were groundless, a major reason for this was the faith and admiration I had for one of your staff in particular. During the following 15 months, it became obvious to me that he was reliable conscientious and energetic. I would rate him the star performer at the Elmwood Care Home, Leeds, the other staff support my views and share them. At all material times, he has dealt with us in a very professional manner and I have nothing but praise for him.
Experience is very good the staff are helpful polite and responsive to my mother’s needs, who appears to be centre of their attention, my mother is well fed and her special diet is monitored and kept on. The management team are good and always approachable. The quality of the food is good my mother does enjoy the soups, any fruit and the ice creams as well as many of the meat and fish main courses.
A very warm and friendly atmosphere. Staff excellent, level of care to a very high standard. My mum is very happy and settled here and content. I myself am happy with the level of communication from everyone. The housekeeping staff especially one in particular is very professional and helpful. Overall experience excellent.
The staff are amazing and do their very best to keep my parents happy. There are lots of activities to join in. My dad loves the peace a quiet and my mum loves the staff who give her cuddles and there is a very caring approach.
Very happy with general care and nursing care. Staff all very friendly and approachable. Lots of different activities available in lounge for those able to leave their room. Recently had some chicks hatch in incubator in lounge.
My mother has been at Elmwood for nearly a year now and I must say it really has been an excellent experience. She is really well cared for and is very happy. The carers are friendly, attentive and genuinely lovely people. Mum now spends a lot of her time socialising with her new friends in the day room, playing games, having her nails done and being entertained by the many visiting groups (singers, visitors from church, mobile shop, animal visitors etc). She was also taken out shopping the other day which I thought was beyond her. She has also had really good medical input, including timely GP reviews. It’s been all that we hoped for and thanks for keeping my mum happy!
My husband was admitted to Elmwood Care Home in January 2023 from hospital and was with them until he sadly passed away in March 2023. We knew from the moment the manager came to assess my husband in the hospital that we had picked the right place for him to stay. Everyone from the managers, nurses, care staff, cleaners, kitchen staff and the two reception ladies made the whole family feel welcome and could not do enough for us. My husband had a bad leg and couldn't walk, he also had a bad foot which the nurses treated very professionally and with care. All the staff were wonderful to him and had little jokes with him to keep him as happy as he could be. He knew all the names of the staff that were looking after him. We would recommend this home to anybody who is in need of care. Thank you.
When visiting my nana I feel the care she gets from staff is brilliant. Staff go above and beyond.
Upon visiting I am always met with a lovely smile and greeting from whoever is on reception. Although obviously not present at mealtime, my mum has said the meals continue to be satisfactory. I have found all staff very pleasant when I have met them during a visit.
Lovely place with staff that seemingly do their best. They care and do what they can. Sometimes it's very busy and things get missed but nothing you can do much about being so busy. They have kept great standards through covid and we are happy with the service provided. Thank you.
My husband has been a patient at Elmwood for 3 years now. He is regrettably reaching the end of his life but has always received the best care and kindness during his stay. I shall always be grateful to everyone at Elmwood.
Dad came to Elmwood from hospital after yet another fall and the effects of previous strokes back in April 2021. At the height of the pandemic, we were thrown into a very difficult time. The admin staff at Elmwood were extremely helpful with our initial enquiries and ensured the transition was as simple as possible. Our main objective was for Dad to be safe and for Mum to no longer have the daily stress associated with his 24-hour care needs. We are overjoyed with the care Dad gets, and he seems 'happy as Larry'. Whilst his memory isn't the best, he lives in the moment and appears to have built good and fun relationships with the staff. He's never far from an awful joke, song or anecdote! When we visit, he is always well turned out and groomed (now the hairdresser is back) and seems very happy. The biggest plus for us is the new lease of life that Mum has. Whilst it's a wrench to no longer have Dad at home, her stresses have been removed. Thank you, Elmwood; roll on open visiting!
Overall, the service has been excellent, and I would recommend this home to family and friends.
