View Full Details of Castleford Lodge Nursing HomeAs a family we are grateful that nana got a placement as she was EOL and needed caring for, but there were issues that should not be overlooked. The night before nana passed she was in pain and discomfort. We asked for help from 3 staff members, and was given different information each time, after having to chase for updates. Nobody seemed to know what to do. I was told false information, that nana would need a doctor to come out and this would be looked at the next day. I knew that an OOH nurse could be called and I had to do this myself as a senior staff member said they had tried 4 times and received no answer, which has never been the case when calling the OOH service. Staff appeared reluctant to make initial contact, and offered no reassurance, which is not fair for a lady in pain nearing the end of her life. Also when nana needed to use toilet facilities, a commode was wheeled in, which did not sit right with us, and regardless of cleaning does not appear hygienic or dignified.
Staff are always happy to help, they take exceptional care and support, with my dad. Always reassuring him about his concerns, and mine. I've seen my dad go from strength to strength over the past month, and this is down to the care he receives from all the staff involved with his care. The management team are always on hand also.
Mum moved into Castleford Lodge at the beginning of January, the staff welcomed her and all our family and Mum has settled really well. The staff are attentive and caring from domestic staff, kitchen staff to carers. So far we could not be more pleased. Well done Castleford Lodge.
My dad first went here for respite care and has been well looked after and his needs met. Staff are always pleasant and helpful and willing to help. He is now a permanent resident and things are changing under new management all for the better in my opinion. Clean and tidy rooms and always there to help.
Beautiful place. Clean safe an warm friendly staff who are caring and compassionate and very good at their jobs. My mum as come on in leaps and bounds since arriving at Castleford Lodge Nursing Home and is very looked after.
My grandma is a resident here and I am beyond happy with the care both she receives. The staff are attentive to her needs beyond basic care. They make sure she is socially integrated with other residents through planned activities. My grandma was very against going into a home but now she is there she is happy and thriving compared to her life before she was placed here. I have experience dealing with a few homes and this is by far the best I've found for my grans care needs, and my own peace of mind. I am so grateful for everything Orchard and the staff here do for my gran and I - I'd recommend this home to anyone.
My mum was moved to the care home in March 2024. Difficult decision to make by myself and family due to my mum's deterioration in her health and care needs. Mum has settled well into the home where she's well cared for. Staff are lovely and caring. Thank you.
My mum has settled in really well at Castleford Lodge. I asked my mum what she liked about the care home, her words are, they treat me like a person, nothing is too much trouble, the food is good and I feel safe. A lot of time effort and care is given, by all staff in making sure that all residents needs are catered for. Lots of fun, great atmosphere, plenty of interaction from staff with residents and their families. The management teams, door is always open to discuss any issues or queries. There is a proactive professional approach, to take on board any suggestions and to maintain a good working relationship with families of residents. It's a difficult time, when a family has to put a family member into full time care. I can't thank Castleford Lodge enough, for all the help and support I have received from all the team. When I go home from visiting my mum, I feel confident leaving her in a safe environment, which is now her home.
The staff are always friendly and kind and always treat the residents with respect, they look after them in a caring way, nothing is too much trouble. We can visit at any time of the day and are always made welcome. My mum is happy and well looked after. The meals are always nice with plenty of choice, my mum enjoys hers, especially the puddings and cakes at tea time, which are made in house. The kitchen staff are lovely and would do anything for you.
Mum was moved here and from the beginning was assaulted on a regular basis. Many little incidents such as being bitten kicked and pushed over. She's blind and deaf but mobile. Caregivers were lovely but the manager etc couldn't wait to pass the buck. Apparently, it was mum's fault that the other residents were assaulting her. She seemed to be in permanent fear for her life. The homes' suggestion was mum pay extra for a 24-hour carer to keep her safe instead of the assaulter having to pay to protect others from her. Her next home was fantastic, worth every penny.
Would like to give a massive shout-out to all the staff at Castleford Lodge especially the ones on the top floor for assisting/helping and caring for my good lady, once again thank you all.
My mum came to Castleford Lodge from a dementia residential care home as she needed nursing. The staff have all made us and my mum feel welcome and having watched the care and interactions with the residents, I am so glad we found this home. The staff not only look after the residents but family too.
From arriving at Castleford Lodge, the staff and team have been caring and ensuring that my mum is supported with all her needs. This was a big move for my mum, but the team put her nerves at bay and made her feel like part of the family.
Dad was sent to Castleford Lodge on the fast track from the hospital. On first impressions when visiting Dad I must admit I wasn't sure about the place. Dad was only at the acre home for a week as he sadly passed away but every time I did visit he was very well looked after by all the staff.
Dad had been in a care home then admitted to hospital, his needs were very complex, vascular dementia, COPD, the list goes on! It was decided he needed nursing care, the changeover to Castleford Lodge Nursing Home was faultless. Unfortunately, he declined rapidly and was only there three weeks until he passed. The care and kindness given to him were outstanding, I can not thank the staff enough for making his end of life comfortable, it means the world to me as his daughter. I would not hesitate in recommending the home, 10/10.
My husband was in for respite in 2022 and I was not very happy with his care. There was a shortage of staff and he didn't get the correct care he needs. Hence, he has come for respite again and I'm very happy he is getting the right care he needs. I have noticed a big difference in this care home.
The genuinely kind and loving care my husband received at Castleford Lodge Nursing Home was absolutely second to none. As his condition deteriorated, he was always treated with immense dignity and compassion - as was I. There is a wonderful atmosphere - everyone cares. We were very fortunate my husband was able to die there.
My mum has recently moved here from a residential home. I was very worried about how the move would affect my mum who’s 94. All I can say is that the manager and all staff have been wonderful and very supportive of not only my mum but myself and my family. I am astounded at the change I have seen in my mum. She seems so much more settled. Her room is beautiful. Although we are new to this home, she seems to be thriving. What I can say from the short time my mum's been here, the care she is receiving is excellent. Thank you from a very grateful daughter.
Overall kind and friendly staff throughout. Residents are treated with respect and dignity and receive great care which also extents to family members. Staff can't do enough.
On the whole, the care home was good. The management and carers were pleasant and polite. My only issue is that on one visit my husband was wearing the same dirty clothes he had been wearing four days earlier and he was incredibly smelly. I asked for him to be cleaned up atc. and this was done promptly.
