I have to thank you for your kind words in relation to the way that your mum has settled into Castleford. Our approach is to ensure that the transition from one setting to another is smooth and that this does not have a negative impact on the individual. I am pleased to hear that Castleford Lodge and the whole team has restored your faith around care that is delivered in the care setting. It is also nice to hear that mums falls have reduced since moving to Castleford and that you feel that our menu is varied and appealing with a good choice for all types of diets.I will also pass over to the whole team that you find the staff friendly approachable and it is good to here that they are open and honest with you in relation to your mum and her needs. The staff at the care home are lovely and nothing is too much trouble, they are all kind and helpful and treat the residents like friends. The kitchen staff are great, they make lovely meals and always treat the residents when its their Birthday making cakes and singing to them. Christmas was a really special event, the manager Sarah and her wife Jackie came in dressed as elves making it a really great day, they always go the extra mile getting the residents up singing and dancing making sure they enjoy themselves. My mum is happy living here, she walks around the home chatting to everyone. Keep up the good work Castleford Lodge.

Hello, can i take this opportunity to thank you for such lovely words about Castleford Lodge and the team that we have working here. The staff will always go ensure that each person is given time to make them feel special ensuring that they are receiving the care and treatment that they need. Birthdays are special times and the kitchen team will always provide everyone with a special Birthday cake and sing to them cause we all love a sing song. Christmas in Castleford will always be special and the team will always ensure that everyone enjoys the day and is involved in some form of singing or dancing and as for dressing up who doesn't want to be an elf. I will pass on your kind words to the full team, and we aim to keep up the work and bring more fun to the home in 2026.

My dad moved from a care home a year ago to reside at Castleford Lodge. It was very different, but the lovely staff made him welcome, and in very little time, he settled in well, which was very comforting. His health gradually deteriorated, and on our last usual visit, it was obvious he had little time left. The nurses were amazing, explaining end of life care, and when the time came, I and my daughter were with him as he passed. They were so kind and respectful and made a huge difference to a daunting experience. I can't praise them enough.

As a family we are grateful that nana got a placement as she was EOL and needed caring for, but there were issues that should not be overlooked. The night before nana passed she was in pain and discomfort. We asked for help from 3 staff members, and was given different information each time, after having to chase for updates. Nobody seemed to know what to do. I was told false information, that nana would need a doctor to come out and this would be looked at the next day. I knew that an OOH nurse could be called and I had to do this myself as a senior staff member said they had tried 4 times and received no answer, which has never been the case when calling the OOH service. Staff appeared reluctant to make initial contact, and offered no reassurance, which is not fair for a lady in pain nearing the end of her life. Also when nana needed to use toilet facilities, a commode was wheeled in, which did not sit right with us, and regardless of cleaning does not appear hygienic or dignified.

Mum moved into Castleford Lodge at the beginning of January, the staff welcomed her and all our family and Mum has settled really well. The staff are attentive and caring from domestic staff, kitchen staff to carers. So far we could not be more pleased. Well done Castleford Lodge.

I am pleased to find that following the respite care that your dad received you have made the decision to make him a permanent person in the home. I am also happy to read that the changes that are being made by the new home manager are positive and that you feel that these changes are for the better in the home. The home has a new way of working around the environment and ensuring that this is always clean and tidy and I will pass on to the team that you have been able to see the positive changes. It's a difficult time, when a family has to put a family member into full time care. I can't thank Castleford Lodge enough, for all the help and support I have received from all the team. When I go home from visiting my mum, I feel confident leaving her in a safe environment, which is now her home.

Reading the words that your has said that the staff in the home home treat her like a person and that nothing is too much trouble is lovely, and that she feels safe in her environment. The staff will always give 100% when in work to ensure that each person is give the time and that they all feel special and cared for. Mum was moved here and from the beginning was assaulted on a regular basis. Many little incidents such as being bitten kicked and pushed over. She's blind and deaf but mobile. Caregivers were lovely but the manager etc couldn't wait to pass the buck. Apparently, it was mum's fault that the other residents were assaulting her. She seemed to be in permanent fear for her life. The homes' suggestion was mum pay extra for a 24-hour carer to keep her safe instead of the assaulter having to pay to protect others from her. Her next home was fantastic, worth every penny.

Thank you for your review for Castleford Lodge Nursing Home. I am sorry that the experience that both you and your mother had while she was staying at the home was not an enjoyable one. Following your mum's stay the home has a new manager in post and is focused on ensuring that the people that are living at Castleford are safe as well as looked after with a high equality of care, dignity and respect being delivered. The home also is focused on ensuring that the people in the home are involved in activities that have a person-centred approach. New activities are in place and regular resident and relative meetings now take place once a month allowing people to have their say on what they wish to be achieving while living in the environment. The new manager has an open door policy and welcomes families to come and discuss concerns that they may have as well as positive feedback

Dad was sent to Castleford Lodge on the fast track from the hospital. On first impressions when visiting Dad I must admit I wasn't sure about the place. Dad was only at the acre home for a week as he sadly passed away but every time I did visit he was very well looked after by all the staff.

The care and kindness given to him were outstanding, I can not thank the staff enough for making his end of life comfortable, it means the world to me as his daughter. I would not hesitate in recommending the home, 10/10.
My husband was in for respite in 2022 and I was not very happy with his care. There was a shortage of staff and he didn't get the correct care he needs. Hence, he has come for respite again and I'm very happy he is getting the right care he needs. I have noticed a big difference in this care home.
