My brother has been in care for 8 month and in Archers Court for 5 month. This care home is the best care home I have been in, I have visited many, the manager is first class with all the residents and joins in with whatever is going on, the food is first class as well its like a 5 star hotel what is baked and served in the care home. Staff are friendly and helpful and I visit all the time and see first hand in what is done. The new back garden is an added addition and in all is 5 star rating

Review of Ashlea Lodge Care Home from Michelle G (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 August 2026 Submitted via Website

My Mum has been a resident for a few years now. She refers to her room as "home".
This makes us so happy, as do the entire staff, from management to cleaning staff, they are just amazing. They've personified the word "carer" from the very beginning.

The loving care my Mum & all of the other residents receive from the staff is beautiful to see. The interaction between them all is like that of a very large family, all caring & to the same goal - happy, healthy people, making every day as good as the last. I can't put into words how truly grateful we, as a family, are to them all. Knowing Mam is cared for, safe, happy & with proper care & given the right medication at the right times is such a relief to us. I, for 1, sleep a lot better, knowing this & that the staff will ring us if there's anything to report. Thank you, to each & every 1 of Ashlea Lodges staff for giving us peace of mind & genuinely caring for our precious Mum.

Reply from Gillian Varley, Home Manager at Ashlea Lodge Care Home

Thank you so much for your kind review. We are pleased that you can rest assured that you Mum is well looked after in Ashlea Lodge and that you Mum refers to her room as home. This makes it all worth while. It's lovely to hear.

Review of Ashlea Mews Care Home from Tracey L (Daughter of Resident) published on 7 August 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

Accepting that a parent needs to move out of their own home and into residential care can never be easy. However, the manager and staff at Ashlea Mews have made this process as smooth as possible. They show kindness and compassion to our whole family - not just to my mam. She is well cared for and all the carers treat her with respect and sensitivity as well as showing a much appreciated liveliness and sense of humour! The manager always has a listening ear and gives sound advice. We are extremely grateful to all staff. Thankyou all very much.

Mam has resided at Ashlea Lodge for 10 months. It was never something we wanted to do, to have to look for a care home for her. We love the home, Mam is so well cared for, staff are great and you can see how much they care for all of their residents. Whenever we ask for anything, nothing is too much trouble. Mam has settled in so well. Very happy with home, cannot fault the home or staff.

My Mam moved into Ashley Mews in April having been cared for at home for a number of years previously and as expected it was an extremely anxious time for us all. I cannot express how grateful I am to all of the staff at Ashley Mews for making that transition as supportive as possible. I no longer worry about her being safe, clean or unattended and I know she is receiving the highest standard of care. The home is welcoming and accommodating, supporting visits at all times.

I had been visiting my 91 year old mother on a daily basis for just over a year, during that time I got to know all the staff and all of the residents on her dementia wing. When you visit every day you get to see every thing and every one, from cleaners, kitchen staff laundry, carers, senior carers, accounts, receptionist and senior management and activities staff every one I encountered was brilliant and actually cared. Unfortunately my mothers medical condition got worse and needed nursing home care and had to move on

I will miss them all.

I visit the care home 4 to 5 times a week to visit Mam and I visit at different times of the day. Mam has been in the care home since January 2026. During the last 6 months I have nothing but praise from the hard working team from the kitchen team who feed mam to the carers that look after Mam. They are worth their weight in gold. You have a good hardworking team and this is priceless to a care home. They have full respect for Mam they talk and chat to her in a lovely manor and have built up a relationship with her over the 6 month and with Dad who visits everyday without fail. In my opinion I feel Mam is well looked after. However If I was worried about anything I wouldn't be afraid to speak up and voice my concerns to the management team. When I have spoke or emailed the management I have always received a reply in a timely manner. While I was on holiday I was kept up to date with Mams health care as we have had issues with her catheter, and I was very grateful for this.

My mother was admitted in early May. She had great difficulty in communicating and recognising her family before she was admitted to Ashley Mews. The improvement in her awareness since her time here is remarkable. She is more alert and aware of her family again. I feel the care and interaction within her environment have gone a long way to her overall improvement. The atmosphere within Ashley Mews is vibrant, friendly and inclusive of everyone regardless of circumstances. Finally, the whole place is bright, clean and positive.

The so called carers, wake you up at 5am and curtains closed at 6pm , still light for another 4 hours, This weekend a joke 27/28 June took 5 hours to get washed.
I heard a resident complained about a peg coming out but the nurse incharge dismissed it, it fell out him/her ended up in hospital.

Ashley Mews is so welcoming and nice from the moment you walk through the doors. Carers provide an excellent service overall - even when my mother is at her most difficult, or, at times, aggressive.
They are very patient and caring with her, even if she gets angry or repetitive.
The rooms sometimes seem dirty (table and floor) with the same things on the floor as previous day. First floor corridor usually smells.

She really seems to enjoy her breakfasts and lunches, and she is often given multiple hot drinks during the day - most of which she doesn't drink. She is now good at drinking her lemonade.

Review of Archers Court Nursing Home from Lynda L (Sister of Resident) published on 10 June 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

The home is a welcoming and happy environment. The staff are friendly and carry out their role in a professional manner. There are daily activities where staff encourage the residents to join in. They make these activities fun for all. The home is clean and tidy and the food provided is of a high standard. My brother has settled well and gets on well with staff. The manager interacts well with the residents and answers any questions that we may have.
