Our mother was in the care of Middleton Park Lodge Home for approximately a year. Even though it took Mum some time to settle in, which was upsetting at times, the staff were very patient and understanding of her needs and how she felt. It was very obvious to myself and my siblings that eventually
she trusted the staff and had her particular favourites. Despite the staff being very busy at times with other residents, they still found the time to spend time with Mum when she was anxious. Often allowing her to spend time in the nurses' office to 'help' them. I'd go so far to say Mum was loved by many of the nurses/carers and that was shown in her final days where Mum was shown care and dignity until she left us. We were shown the same respect and kindness in the final hours of her life and nothing was too much to enable us to stay by her bedside 24/7.
Reply from Suzanne Mckie, Peripatetic Manager at Middleton Park Lodge Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to share your review of Middleton Park Lodge. It was an honour to provide the care and support your mum needed during her final year. We deeply appreciate your trust in our team and remain committed to supporting families with compassion and dignity.

I would like more activities on a daily basis for my husband to go out little bit more, weather permitting, it seems it is the same residents that go out more regularly than others.

We have a varied programme of activities on a daily basis and daily outings to the local community (weather permitting). We will review your husbands involvement with these activities and outings.

My Mother is in this home & we have recently had to complain about the level of care she is receiving due to neglect. Mum is regularly found in the same nightwear that she has had on for over 48 hours & with food in her hair. She is very often found in a wet bed & also left in a wet pad for hours without
being changed or even staff visiting her room to check. Family have had to call this out many times & then we wait over an hour to get anything done. Mum is bed bound, so she cannot get up to get a drink & we regularly turn up to find her table quite a distance from her bed with no fluids. Family have had to do the carers jobs by feeding her, often bringing food from our home because the quality they give her is very poor. Due to this awful neglect, mum took very ill & it took the family to get her well again, because staff didn't seem to care. The Management are extremely poor & are not willing to listen, they regularly have to use agency staff who are not very caring to residents.
Reply from Janet Bedworth, Regional Operations Manager at Middleton Park Lodge Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we value your feedback and assure you that we take this very seriously. The safety, comfort and wellbeing of all residents here at Middleton Park Lodge is of paramount importance to us. I would like to personally reassure you that I am on hand and happy to discuss your comments with you further, to see if there's anything we can do to alleviate the concerns you have. If you would like to have a conversation with me directly, please contact the team at Middleton Park Lodge and I will be happy to arrange a call or a face-to-face meeting with you. Best wishes, Janet Bedworth, Regional Operations Manager

My brother is being cared for at this location. I live outside of the country and flew over to visit my brother for one week. Being there ever day, I was impressed by the professionalism of the staff and level of care and attention my brother received.
The management and administration were very
open and communicated well. They gave clear and understandable plans for my brother's care. And made extra efforts with regard to continuing communication due to the fact that I live abroad.
I was very impressed with the location and staff and feel very comfortable that my brother is being well cared for.
Reply from Paulina Drzewiecka, Middleton Park Lodge Manager at Middleton Park Lodge Nursing HomeWe are extremely proud that we could look after your brother in such a difficult time for him. I personally choose this care home for my dad, as I'd read other good reviews. My dad is well looked after, cared for and there is always plenty of activities on to keep them entertained. There is a good range of meals and snacks throughout the day too.

The management team are extremely caring and approachable and will do anything they can to assist you. The staff are so friendly, caring, kind, they make it an absolute pleasure to
visit and I am so grateful for the way they care for my dad and his special needs. Thank you everyone for all your hard work, this job is not easy or for the faint-hearted but you do it with such grace.

Dad has been at Middleton since January 2024. From the start, he was welcomed with a one-to-one settling-in session with the manager. Dad has become much more relaxed and happy since being here. All the staff are helpful and kind, always keeping us up to date with everything, and always treat the residents
and their families like family. We're happy and relaxed knowing that Dad is in the best place for his wellbeing and that the staff will go above and beyond to make him feel safe, comfortable and happy.

My uncle has been a resident at Middleton Park Lodge for about a month now. He settled into his new surroundings very quickly, this is due to staff on all levels, carers to managers as patience, respect and friendliness between the carers and residents is amazing and a delight to witness. It has a very
homely feel to it when you walk in. It is very clean and is a safe and secure environment for our precious and vulnerable family members.

If you are considering this home for your relative then ensure you are prepared for prescriptions to be sent seventy miles away to a company in Runcorn, Cheshire. My Mum had a 30-hour delay to an urgent antibiotic, prescribed at 13:30 on Thursday, and administered at 18:35 the next day! I did raise
a complaint with the manager but received no reply until Adult Social Care forced a reply two weeks later!
The Home manager and Doctor blame each other! If considering this home then try to be on site to ensure any urgent prescriptions are sent to a local pharmacy and not to Cheshire!
What I find even more concerning than this farce is that the home took thirty hours to react! It's quite obvious to me that this is about profit and not common sense!
The home sees no problem with this procedure and is continuing to use it even after two warnings from the Doctor's surgery regarding patient safety. There is a pharmacy literally steps away!
Reply from Sarah Armitage, Operations Director at Middleton Park Lodge Nursing HomeThank you for your review. We take all concerns raised seriously and have amended our processes based on the feedback you have shared. I can confirm that all urgent/acute prescriptions are now managed locally. Dad was very well cared for by all of the staff, nurses and management. Nothing was too much trouble. He was always clean and tidy. Even the kitchen staff would ask him what he would prefer when he went off his food. The laundry staff helped when they could, even making us a cup of tea. The whole family
agree that although Dad was only here a short while, it was with dignity.

Nan moved in here in November and has adapted very well. The staff are great and very empathetic to the individual needs of different levels of dementia. The staff are very well trained in dementia and are always around to approach if needed. Nan has issues mainly with personal care but staff are very
understanding and patient. Such a difference in Nan's mood, speech, sleeping, eating and general well-being.

I had been worried about how Mum would settle in her new home, but I need not have worried as she was truly fine. Our welcome on the day was very warm, friendly and so relaxed. The staff were so chatty and smiley, and Mum loves people who smile. All the staff were so helpful, and nothing was too much
trouble. The manager also welcomed Mum into the home personally, which was lovely. The home was warm, clean, and nicely decorated. The staff put on entertainment, i.e. music, films, TV, and games, and they are always interacting with residents. Mum loves this, and it shows.

The care home is exactly that! The love and "care" the staff give my mum is above and beyond.
The staff are always walking in, chatting to Mum or checking if she wants anything. Her room is always clean and well-maintained.
The food looks gorgeous, and Mum especially enjoys breakfast.
All in all,
Mum wouldn't be with us now if it wasn't for the "care" she gets at Middleton Park.
Thank you!

All the staff and management are very caring and extremely hard-working under difficult conditions. The rooms are very clean and tidy, and the facilities are adequate. The only criticism I would have is the standard of the food, which the standard has dropped in the last few years.

satisfied with the care my mam receives and am grateful for all your hard work and patience.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.185)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.185) out of 10 for Middleton Park Lodge Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 14 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.385 for Middleton Park Lodge Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (116 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (11 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 161 Ratings = 4.385
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Middleton Park Lodge Nursing Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
